How to Debone Chicken Thighs

Video Overview & Insights

Learn how to easily de-boned bone-in skin-on chicken thighs (which are often more economical than boneless skinless thighs) to make either skin-on boneless thighs, or boneless skinless thighs.

Have a small pot of salt & pepper water ready. Quarter an onion, add a couple of bay leaves & spices of your liking (thyme, oregano, rosemary, etc). Drop the chicken bones into the pot as you go and pop it on the stove to a light boil, then a simmer. Strain after it reduces and you have the start of a wonderful soup/soup base, or gravy. For extra flavour, bake the bones/parts until brown and then begin the broth. Don't forget to add a tablespoon of soy sauce to your finished liquid for the umami boost! 👍

Thanks for the video! I bought some chicken thighs with the bone in because they were on sale. It turned into a messy situation. I thought it wouldn’t be that difficult and that I could do it in maybe 10 minutes. Oh boy, was I wrong. It took me like 45 minutes to debone 5 thighs. I probably should have watched this video beforehand. 😅

Half price to boneless chicken thigh. My wife is lazy so buys them, drives me mad. Just debone is ffs, takes 30 secs

Although I once asked a butcher for 24 boneless chicken thighs and he looked at me like I was the devil and said "you will have to come back for them" lol

01/28/26 I never thought about deboning a chicken and thanks to your video and the GREAT demonstration you displayed.... now I can indeed and WILL debone my chicken thighs, yay! Thank you, great job!

This is how a Nobu chef taught me to do it. I had to look it up here for some advice/training/teaching to refresh my memory. This is a very good channel and I will view it again. You make it about the lesson You aren't trying to be the focal point. It's a simple thing but most tubers would drag it out to 15 minuts and act like they created fire.

As I type this, I’m standing in the supermarket having seen bone-in skin-on chicken thighs for $2.59/lb or boneless/skinless for $5.99/lb. It was enough of a difference to make me curious.

So I Googled “how to remove bone and skin from chicken thighs”. This video was concise, helpful, and insightful enough to convince me it’s pretty easy to do.

Still didn’t have the confidence. I wimped out and paid about $17.60 for the same amount of chicken I would have paid less than $8.00 for if I would dare brave de-boning and de-skinning it myself.

So not today. But maybe someday in the future.

God bless! 🙏

I love this tutorial!!! My husband used to be a butcher and he tried to teach me how to do this process, however, it seems like you kind of overcomplicated so I ended up with a bunch of messy chicken not just a whole boneless skinless so thank you for making it look so simple and I'm going to try it right away thank you

Bonus: Air fry the bone and chicken fat and boil it to make chicken stock :D for mashed potatoes or soups.
