Why the UK's Economy Stopped Working
Video Overview & Insights
The UK’s new government will inherit an historic economic challenge as a result of Brexit, the pandemic, Russia’s war on Ukraine and the debt burden exacerbated by all three. Inflation is just one obstacle facing the Labour Party under Leader Keir Starmer, the Conservatives under Prime Minister Rishi Sunak or whomever the country chooses. While raising taxes or increasing debt are unlikely options, there is a potential solution to Britain's economic crisis: increasing productivity and efficiency.

They did not fix our national debt when interest rates were near zero, a bank of england fault they sold debt with a floating debt rate. Who benefited every bank who bought the debt knew they could not lose. We are the welfare capital of the world rock up with nothing on arrival get the right to be housed fed and welfare money at the uk taxpayers expense. On arrival you gain the right to welfare for the rest of your life and an old age pension.
GDP is a con how can you have a rising GDP when just in the 16 to 24 age range you have over 16% unemployed what is the government answer allow 750.000 more in each year net immigration. Our government made up by both the main ruling parties have pressed the self destruction button, not by accident but by design. Make the uk a basket case forcing us back into the EU.

UK economy was highly integrated with the EU. Exiting EU is like taking a fish out of water.

Because you cannot go from national to imperial to national again and not have it affect the country. That’s why imperialism was so so so stupidly done in the UK. A handful of people made all the decisions and got all the money, while the entirety of the nation had to be painted by the guilt when they and their ancestors made nothing off of empire. The ones who made the empire were the same ones who destroyed it, and did so without remorse and escape responsibility to this day
@GivingUMoreI wonder if there was some kind of… British exit that may have had a negative effect on the economy?
@Mito383tax the wealthy!
@hussamhussam3278Blaming war and international crisis is pointless and only half the truth we can't control the world only our domestic policy.
Employment law is weighted to the employee its too onerous and risky to employ people.
Benefits are a lifestyle choice not safety net.
Tax is too high in general.
Law and order is a shambles rich people who create jobs are leaving.
We don't protect our industry unlike Europeans
The list is endless
because the empire is dead!
@felixmatin9489The key to a strong economy is having your own natural rescources for manufacture of products. Having to import all your raw materials puts the UK at a disadvantage.
@Kendro-x5qIf you have green energy lunatics in the government and energy prices are among the highest in the world, no large industry can survive and be competitive. It was crazy to think that shuffling paperwork from one pile to another could keep the country afloat. These so-called financial services are an industry that can help, but they cannot be a primary source of employment for citizens or a primary source of government revenue.
@wojciechjanecki9221I think the biggest impact on Britains psyche has been the rise of social media influencing elections.
Most people rank migration as one of the biggest issues without any knowledge of the facts, the issue is that the UK continues to act like it has an Empire that spans the globe.
We are an island, figuratively and literally since we left the EU, that fails to change its service sector economy to something more resilient.
How do you fix it? Not a clue, but I doubt Farage has the answer.
Britain is glorious enough…
@userhome000PEOPLE DO CHOOSE POVERTY BY VOTING FOR SOCIALISM!!!!!!!!
@IccdocThe reason Britain is currently risking economic crisis is because it has to reinvent itself from what it was for several centuries. The UK economy was an extraction centralization economy. It had colonies, those colonies made money which ended up on the British Isles and was metabolized with stock markets and investments in factories, general wealth, and even domestic welfare aka the dole. As the colonies fell apart and became independent in the late 1940s into the 1950s leading into the issues that were the British 1970s where the economy had many issues. The UK then became a banking nation for Europe and again was able to metabolize other geographical zones money. Upon Brexit the playbook never changed, but the amount of players who Britain could pull in money to take care of the British Isles waned so what did they do? They shifted focus, now London is the hub which extracts from the rest of the British Isles. London is the Country and the rest of the UK is its colonies.
@troystreacker8829280 billion. US spent 5 trillion on covid stimulus
@IrvingHowe85643American here and a great admirer of Great Britain because of WW1 and especially WW2 and our mutual history. London was always on my bucket list. Sadly no more, jealousy is one thing, total abandonment in time of need is another. Royal Navy in shambles, embarrassing. Defeated by Muslims without a shot fired.
@johnfun3394It was all coronacrap. The most expensive sniffle in history.
@glowmentorAll the die-hard Remoaniacs on here 😂😂😂
@glowmentorOne word: Socialism 😂 And (a year after this video) they DID raise taxes and they DID increase spending. 😂
@glowmentorBecause 50% of citizens income goes to the royal family! 50%! That is crazy!
@ihatecallofduty6035The global financial crisis, Covid and the Ukraine war were all beyond our control. We chose Brexit.
@keithyork8226Energy independence has been promoted since the 1970s. Just limping along on cheap oil because of laziness takes a big toll down the line when it's no longer cheap or even available at all.
@scanmeadEngland has lost Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. 15.2 million Brexit voters, all living in England, outvoted the entire populations of the rest of the UK and forced Brexit on Northern Ireland and Scotland, which both voted to remain inside the EU. England will be divorced by the "Northern and Western" parts of the UK, as the Boris Johnson Government wished us to be called.
@ThomasRoyWallerWhen your economy is full of consultants and not manufacturers, how do you expect the economy to perform?
@EchoesofEmpire-v4iThatcher and incompetent leaders killed all U.K's manufacturing and manufacturing middle class jobs. Now U.K has only unproductive economy Real Estate and Financial Fraud Services
@htnaku4947Because it relied on looting its occupied colonies
@AbhaySharma-v2xWhat are these jobs that need to be filled and for how much????
@IMylsWhen growth slows but debt doesn’t, policy space shrinks.
Britain once turned debt into a tool of expansion centuries ago.
The challenge now is whether the same financial architecture can sustain prosperity rather than just stability.
De-industrialization. One answer.
@pawetulski7115(I'm not British)
This was set on 2008 Crisis, brexit just worked as a Final Touch to that. And Doing FTAs with countries won't fix that problem like current British Government is trying to act that they are trying to fix problems but in reality they are doing nothing. UK has only one way that is joining the EU back which is a less brutal option.
This is what happens when you open your borders. Can’t believe people were dumb enough to elect Starmer. The UK is about to learn a very hard lesson about socialism over the next few decades.
@user-sj5is1ne8jThe vast amount of the British public didn't even see any of this wealth either. It was hoarded amongst the elites.
@SilentEvidence-j6zBrexit going well 😂
@grafity1749I know the answers but i dont wanna say it
@onepiece_luffysgirlCorona was a big crime, and so many people trustet the politik
@walterbrenner7359If Europe would have sacrificed itself for American's dream of expanding NATO it would have been doing best
@justaperson2247Because they don't have factories, they import everything
@Daiyan.Mizan.ChowdhuryYou mean subisdizing millions of africans who dont pay there fair share in taxes puts a strain on the budget and hurts the people of the country. No way who couldve seen it coming
@ryanschubert368Taylor's reference 😅
@AhmadHassan-on6zqThe UK has no productivity. The people who want to work cannot find employment. And an increasing number of people are quite frankly lazy... going on benefits despite being able bodied. Due to a low reproduction rate, the UK does not have enough working age people to enable the retired population to continue receiving a sustainable pension. And the remaining working age people are increasingly punished with higher taxes to do so. And the immigrant population that was supposed to artificially add working age people into the population are also claiming benefits.
And I say this as an immigrant in the UK who is here on a skilled worker's visa. The UK needs to take dramatic actions if there is to be any hope of even maintaining the current state, let alone recover.
The sun is finally setting. 🤟
@Barely108This didn't age well, did it?
@knightime14reference to taylor swift album lol
@pavitrasingla6128The UK is on the brink of failing and has been for the past 15 years or so, all the money is frozen in assets and life is very expensive businesses can't thrive, the government needs to stop and rethink its strategies, start with energy; Russia is not a foe it's a friend, stop the war and import cheap energy from Russia again, lower taxes and invest in infrastructure
@omarzubaidi2166Brexit is a disaster! Undo brexit!!! Rejoin the E.U.!!!🇪🇺🇪🇺🇪🇺🇪🇺🇪🇺🇪🇺🇪🇺🇳🇱💛💙🦊😸💚🧡
