Most Japanese Families Make Curry Like This 👍
Curry rice (Japanese curry and rice / kare-raisu) is one of the most popular comfort foods in Japan 🇯🇵
Honestly golden curry with rice the best homeless meal
Gave it a go
According to surveys, Japanese people eat curry rice about twice a month! It’s an easy, hearty, and family-friendly meal loved by both kids and adults ✨
In this video, I’ll show you how to make delicious Japanese curry rice at home 😋
When I cover the pot to cook for 20mins, do I cover completely with a lid without ventilation? Or do I let some steam release?
Thanks for a great recipe!

Curry Rice (Golden Curry)
THANK YOU SO MUCH !! I prepared this, this evening I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT !! It was the very FIRST time I cooked this and it will NOT be the last !!! It was so VERY good,. Again, MANY THANKS from a grateFUL FAN !! San AnTONIO. TEXAS, U.S.A.
Difficulty: Easy
Time: 30min
May I ask how would you compare the taste of Vermont and golden curry? Any preferred methods of cooking each?
Number of servings: 5~6
Ingredients:
This seems too watery? Did you only use half a package of curry roux? If so, this quantity of liquid would need the entire package.
1/2 box (99g) S&B Golden Curry https://amzn.to/4ihwDo5
*we call it "curry roux". you can choose mild or hot as well.
This version is shit. I make it 1000x better
250g (8.8oz.) meat
300g (10oz.) onion
I still love your style of recipe videos. They make me feel happy and warm inside. :)
150g (5oz.) potatoes
100g (3.5oz.) carrot
Thank you❤
2tbsp. cooking oil
750ml water
Hi! which pan are you using for this? I couldn't find similar ones on Amazon.
Also which ones are suitable? For example I have: 8 QT Stainless Steel Stock Pot.. woud that work?
cooked rice
Directions:
I got some Golden Curry and chicken from the store and was looking for ideas... this is the perfect easy to follow guide! Thank you so much ✌❤
1. Cut meat of your choice into bite-size pieces. Slice the onions. Cut the potatoes and the carrot into bite-size pieces.
2. Heat the cooking oil in a large stew pot. Cook the meat and vegetables for about 5~10 minutes.
Delicious love this in autumn and winter!
3. Add 750ml water, bring to a boil, remove the foam, and turn the heat down to low and cook for about 20 minutes.
4.Turn off the heat, break up the curry roux into the pot, and mix well until completely melted. *make sure you stop the heat when you add the curry roux, otherwise it won't blend well.
5. Then put on low and simmer for about 5 minutes until it thickens.
6. Serve curry on a hot bed of rice.
Browning the onions first makes a world of difference here.
*for best results, don't use a lid while cooking.
*curry and rice is best eaten on the day it's made but if you have any leftover, store it in the fridge and finish it on the next day, but it is not recommended.
I am so excited to try this recipe. I just got my package of golden curry from Amazon. Thank you!
*if you have leftover curry roux, wrap in a plastic wrap and store it in the fridge and use within a week.

As an American, I also usually eat Japanese curry a few times a month. It's not as often as various Indian or Thai curries though. I'll frequently toss in mushrooms, almost always some cayenne pepper (I'm a chilihead), and I like it a bit thicker. Golden Curry is the brand my local grocery has available.

@JackFlandersI make this in my Instant Pot (pressure cooker). Put everything in, top up with water, put curry block on top and pressure cook on high for 15 mins. At the end give it all a good stir.
