Star Fox Review

Video Overview & Insights

Star Fox (2026) reviewed by Jada Griffin on Nintendo Switch 2.

am i wrong for wanting another game like starfox adventures

— @VIBlight

Despite knowing nearly all Star Fox 64’s shortcuts and secrets for close to 30 years now, this remake’s impressive coat of paint and compelling new cutscenes made me smile like I just did my very first barrel roll. Finding hidden routes to unlock different stages or small optimizations to push my score sky high is still much deeper than it first appears, keeping the brief campaign runs fun across multiple playthroughs. And while the new Challenge mode and revamped multiplayer don’t go quite as far as I’d like in terms of content or creativity, they are still amusing ways to shake things up once you’ve exhausted every alternate route. Given the decade-long drought since the disappointment that was Star Fox Zero in 2016, Nintendo was wise to return to Star Fox’s best game in order to revitalize this 33-year-old series, and has reached a new peak for it in doing so. Hopefully this is just the beginning for Fox McCloud, because Nintendo has proven the Arwing isn’t out of style quite yet.

You guys gotta realize its an arcade title. Not a 30mins match

These graphics look insane for a switch 2 game

@onlywiigame.

I hope they do something like this for Ocarina of Time. Just a facelift with the main game fully intact.

Does Peppy say “ I saw my life flash before my eyes “ because if he doesn’t, I don’t want it

this is how starfox looked to me when I played it as a kid... this is a joke of a remake, the characters look like they're in toy story 1....

I miss my dad, we played this game together back in the day. I almost shed a tear when Peppy said “your father would be proud of you!”. This time I wasn’t the co-pilot, I got to fly solo. I know he was watching! He would’ve loved this game.

add original n64 button mapping for the switch n64 controller

@Philly.D
@

Instead of mouse mode why couldn't they just make it regular motion controls. The game would control so much better. I wish they stop with mouse controls how can anyone do it comfortable in the living room.

Was expecting a 7

We dont want the extra video content after the score. Stop that shit.

The original game launched what was called the FX chip for Super Nintendo in 1993. The game was all polygons.

Got us 90s kids crying like a motherfucker. 😭😭😭😭. I still remember getting the original for C-mas back then lol.

Both the review and the editor of the video highlighted their BlueSky handles. Does IGN promote BlueSky as well as other social platforms like X? Or is IGN another microcosm of “Elects?”

@rolando_roblero

no way in hell am I paying 60 bucks for 10 hours of gameplay. What a rip off

@codyscxrs

The chills memory lane, loved this game

@7aoz

So basically Nintendo did the bare minimum to get people to buy a Switch 2. Got it. Things are looking grim for the Ocarina of Time remake😢 Btw. You can play the 3ds Version of Star Fox for free on an emulator. Heck you can even play the later games in the series for free. No need to pay 50 Bucks for a 30 year old game.

@blindslowhappy6842
@

Wonder if they still have that hidden unlockable where you can be on foot if you s rank everything

@Qohsosmooth
@

Man this kinda hit me in the feels because i use to play this all the time as a kid i almost forgot about this game being that life got tuff and in the way

@Qohsosmooth
@

LOL at the "bsky" social media push; gotta get all 12 of those people on the website to sub.

Anyways, great review. Glad IGN actually did a real review for this game.

The new voicelines sound off. Enjoying it and it looks amazing, but the N64 voices are too engrained into my memory. Especially the villains, iconic lines fall completely flat

REMASTER SUPER MARIO SUNSHINE AND WARIO WORLD

@nepsessu258

Hopefully they make a new original game in the series after this.

Would love to see Adventures and Assault remade by this studio.

I missed this on 64, so I’ll likely pick this up. Grew up with the SNES version.
