Welcome back to What’s For Tea :) Tonight for tea I made these wonderful roast potatoes! These go with just about anything! Beautifully fluffy on the inside and crisp on the outside. I used goose fat this time around…just because it’s a wee bit fancier and gives them a delicious rich flavour, but I’d normally just use olive oil.

Everything I used will be listed below incase you want to make these for yourself. Thanks for stopping by,

I made there's today for my husband thanks

Using this technique with my Christmas Roast Pork today... Yum!

— @marymaryquitecontrary9765

What I used (serves 4-5)

1 kg Potatoes (Maris Piper, King Edward and Red Rooster work best)

Lockdown

— @beastieber5028

120g (1/2 cup) of Fat (I used goose fat but olive oil, lard or vegetable oil work too)

Salt to taste

This is exactly what I hoped to find! Thank you!

When do you start counting the 10 minutes you boiling them? Do you boil for 10 minutes once the water reaches the boiling point or is it 10 minutes once you turn the heat on?

Oh Cheryl, These have my mouth watering. I really want to try these but I don't have a working oven right now. Do you think I could get close to the same results shallow frying them, and if so would a combo of oil and butter work for the frying? Hope you have a blessed week ahead.

Wow!!! That was like a flash back to my childhood! My mother cut the potatoes a bit smaller then tossed them in a hot mixture of butter and shortening, then into the oven till golden and crispy... She called them “potatoes in the oven”! 😂🥰
I still make them... And, I will definitely try them your way! They look amazing!!! ❤️

Thankyou for this great recipe. Being a Brit I was used to having roast potatoes especially at Christmas. Today in the US we celebrated Thanksgiving with my family and I always make mash potatoes as I can't convince my US family to try roasties! I will definately try your recipe as I miss roast potatoes! Not sure which American potato type would be the best ie russet or yukon gold.. Thank you

Funny how something as simple as roasted potatoes look and taste so very good. I’m getting ready to put some in the oven now to go with some ham and bean soup. It will look quite similar by the time I’m done. I’ve got some bread pudding with bourbon sauce for dessert and that is our Thanksgiving meal. Take care, other Cheryl :)

Thank you for this recipe! It is similar to how I make them on top of the stove, but in the oven would be much easier! Today was Thanksgiving in the US. I'll be making these for Christmas. much love from Texas!

Try adding a good sprinkle of semolina before shaking them together, for that extra crunchy version.

Those potatoes look crispy! Looks Yummy. What brand is the pot you're cooking your potatoes in? I've seen the same pot in other videos and I love the wooden handles!

@Angie_P

When you said you allow 3-4 potato pieces per person depending on the size of them, I thought you meant the size of the person. Had me thinking that if that's the case, put me down for 8!

Look (and sound) delicious! Even if you don't celebrate Thanksgiving, it's still a good time to be grateful for the good things we have in our lives, like this channel. So, thank you very much! I have an idea of the work that goes into the recording and editing, and I know that even if you enjoy cooking, it's also work. All of that takes time, as well. I very much appreciate your videos, and the effort you put into each one!
