Yeah, no. That scyther/pinsir name thing is a bunch of baloney.

Their names are just a play on the words "scythe" and "pinch" with an r at the end.

The "her" and "sir" are pure coincidence. Try saying their names but with the consonant "R" swapped for any other letter; they don't sound right. The letter R just happened to sound better at the end of their names, so they both got one.

The reason you never noticed it and have not heard anyone else mention it is because it's obviously BS. But I'm guessing you knew that and just said this to farm engagement.

Ok so the SchtHER and PinSIR thing is just a coincidence. I had a book in elementary school when Pkmn first came out ((and it was still the Wild West figuring things out)) where it was spelled Pincer. I remember because I would always say Pincher for obviously reasons and a kid told me I couldn’t read. That’s when I noticed there was no H. Pincher still makes sense to me and it matches Schyther better but 30 years later I think I should let it go 😂

You can also hit flying/digging Pokémon if you used Lock-on or Mind Reader in the previous turn. I assume that the same thing applies to Dive, but I haven't tested it.

Also, Swift can hit a Flying or Digging Pokémon in gen 1 only.

A fair number of these things aren't even facts come on...it's conjecture in a fair few places....and conincidence in others like the shiny colors which we know Gamefreak had no control over due to how they work. Still some interesting bits, but Ethan using his old design? That's Gold and just shows they didn't plan to make new characters originally....That "fail safe" text is literally a remnant of old game design which tells us either N was not fought at all at that point or it was optional.

21:35 fun fact, gen 2 transform only held on one set of stat values when transforming so if you managed to get a ditto to transform into a shiny pokemon that also knows transform, and then switch to another pokemon so the ditto can use transform a second time, the stat values of the shiny pokemon will save to the ditto and it will be shiny when you catch it.
