Very nicely done, thanks! Otters are a particular favorite of mine. I love the smaller fresh water varieties as well as the giants of the Amazon. But my heart belongs to the sea otters of California, as I'm a native too. I had just arrived in Monterey one year and a wild female sea otter had pulled herself up on a flat rock near shore and gave birth in full view of amazed onlookers visiting the Monterey Bay Aquarium that day. That illustrates what they're doing right. The Aquarium is very much involved in rescuing orphaned pups and injured adults. Far too often, sea otters are injured or killed by Great White sharks who patrol the coast of California. The sharks don't eat the otters, they take a bite then realize they don't want to eat all that fur. Hope you can make it out to California someday. We've got several great animal habitats, both wild and manmade. 😊

Hi and thank you for your beautiful vídeo of the zoo Leipzig. As I am original from Leipzig my heart is connected to the city and the zoo.
I wittnessed the transformation to the beautiful place it is today and feel quite proud for what the team of the zoo has achieved.
Still I would like to make some remarks on your video. The goats you showed in "Africa" are not pygmy goats but Damara goats.
The pongoland is actually a cover for the
Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology, which was founded in Leipzig and would do research on apes. The zoo officials asked them to build the research facilities with the living animals on zoo ground. After lots of discussions and dealing with the needs of a research centre and zoo exhibit - pongoland was built and if you lucky, you can even see the research live as some facilities are visible for the visitors. After the success of this new part the idea of zoo of the future started to transform the whole zoo.
When I was a child the bassin fir the seal had only a quarter of the size today, the enlargement was one off the first project's after the reunification and financed by the organisation "friends of the Leipzig Zoo". My last comment is regarding Gondwanaland. The house should give an idea of the fauna of the continents which used to form the former continent of gondwana, which are South America, Africa and Asia and that is how you follow the route through the dome and its even mentioned with a board, when you cross to the next continent.
I visit a lot of zoos myself, have a look on fb or insta (panda saxonia), so I am disappointed if I can't find information easily. I hope you don't mind, me explaining things about my favorite zoo, not everyone can know by his first glance 👍 best regards

Oh yes, the sloth bear is one of the cutest. It's also the most vicious of all bears, the only bear to attack instantly. They have taken people's faces off in India.

We visited Leipzig Zoo in 2023 and I have to admit it's one of the nicest Zoo's we've visited in Germany. The only Zoo we were disappointed in was Hagenbeck Zoo in Hamburg. When we visited this zoo a lot of enclosures were under construction or closed to the public although tickets cost still €29,00. Tierpark Nordhorn, Zoom Erlebniswelt and Dresden Zoo are smaller but still interesting to visit.

@JamokeGuyGreat vid, but the Gondwana hall isn't the largest indoor rainforest in the world. Rimbula in Wildlands Adventure Zoo is currently the largest, and a much larger one is being constructed at Pairi Daiza in Belgium.

@jobond3317Also, remember zoos are a poor approximation of the wild. Protection of natural habitats is the key but how is the trick? Never accept zoos as the best. They are not. Elephants are not in zoos. For their health both mental and physical they need a very very large area. Hopeful the zoo is hands off. No sticks or hooks to poke the elephants with

@Thezootourguide-i6dI am so happy ypu liked my favorite zoo so far! I live in germany and the Leipzig Zoo is BEAUTIFULL. I especially love the spotted hyenas! If you are in germany tho, try the Opel Zoo too. Its really cool too in its own way.

@AidanVandenDamZoos are one of the biggest piles of rubbish in human history. Even if they are "beautifully" prepared, what is done to the animals there is horrific. Majestic, wild animals languish, are only a shadow of their former selves and have nothing of what the animals are in the wild.

The best elephant House has to be Cologne or Zurich
@Pertinax193A.D.You need to visit the Zoo in Zurich, Switzerland. It‘s amazing. Currently there is a lot of construction work going on. so you better visit it in a few years.
My favourite part there is definitely the Masoala indoor rainforest. The Kaeng Krachan elefant house and Lewa savannah are also amazing.
Have you been to the Burgess Zoo in Arnhem? Absolutely amazing.
@TheAverageAquarist26Being born in Leipzig I can tell you that is was a blast seeing the zoo change. They rebuilt every area on after another. The large construction side seen on the map will be different though as it is the last possible addition to the zoo. A large mixed habit as far as I know with a 100 m long tube were you can walk through penguin swimming around you. Even as a local this zoo is and has always been something very special. I even got a chance to work with their office once, I can assure you that every single person in there loves animals and what they do. I really love the zoo and the company behind it. Thanks for showing it to the world ❤
@holzigesholz4556I know everyone loves animals but I have to say it. You can see many of the animals having stereotypical behavior and seem to walk the same path everyday, maybe even the whole day. They are not happy there and can't go where they want. I would love for Zoos to take care of animals where they would live in the wild or put more effort into releasing them. I don't like seeing them unhappy and I would like for people to see Zoos as critical also
