Yoga For Seniors | Slow and Gentle Yoga

Video Overview & Insights

Carve out some time on the mat for this relaxing and gentle 28 minute Yoga With Adriene practice. Relieve stress, cultivate a clear mind and a strong body.

Last month we focused on the practice and power of getting clear. This month we embrace the fact that the only constant is in fact, change.

And so, we practice loving our existence IN THE FLOW.

We align with the fact that what goes up, must come down and that struggles are in fact… real.

This month, we use the tools of yoga to build strength from the inside out.

Ease. Resilience. Flexibility. Joy.

Catch A Wave.

Yoga for all.

Share your experience and let me know how it goes down below!

I felt too tired to do yoga today but I got off my ass anyway and did this. It wasn't as easy as I thought it might be but boy I felt great afterwards...and I've not broken my eight days of yoga either. I choose to do it anyway 😂 Loads of Love, Bel 🤍💪🤗🙏

Namaste!

Just enjoyed practicing this routine. First time with Adriene. At age 68 feeling well!

The problem with many of these videos is the person assumes we are already flexible enough to sit down upright on a mat, like a 20 year old!!
She starts with an action that most 60 years are too stiff to do, especially for beginners...I wish yoga podcasters could understand this.

@kiwirob67
@

kind of boring compared to 30 days of yoga

@jennifermills4544

Definitely need slower paced transitions. And I’m not sure if the leaning head first arms back is something we build up core strength in order to accomplish easier for those like me lacking balance.

I was recommended to do some yoga. I really enjoyed it. I think it was just what I needed even though I’m only a month out from total shoulder replacement. I had to modify some of the moves. I couldn’t put my right arm all the way up, but I felt very good. I did some yoga many years ago but I’m a beginner and much older now thank you Adrian. I thought it was just right for me to get started !the length of it just for starting

Lovely but more about breathing than stretching and strengthening.

I hate it when someone refers to as the kids are saying, like we’re stupid

@Penanpaper
@

Has a lot of silences and focus on breathing, not for days when you want something active, but great for days when you want to slow down and pay attention to the micro movements and energy flow in the body!

Is it possible to translate it to Russian so I can send it to my mother 😊❤

I used to do DOGA with my 127-pound Great Dane/Husky mix, Tundra. That stopped after he saw too many downward dog poses and got off the mat, creating his own pose, which I call horse flipping. It’s where he rolls onto his back and stretches his long, huge legs into the air. It’s hysterical. So now I’m starting a program called Coda. This is yoga with my 21-year-old tiger male cat named Mr. Meowgi! 🫶😺🐾🧘

Thank you Adriene. Just said goodbye to my dear Henri. My wonderful 4 legged 17 yr old puppy. You have guided me through so many of life ‘s challenges. Covid. Infidelity. Job loss. Empty nest. This is a tough one. Your lovely voice and practice has brought me so much peace. Namaste. ❤

Adriene, first of all thank you for putting out this free content. What it must feel like to be in your body! I’m a 65-year-old woman who has sat at a desk job for 35 years. It seems I always have issues with my neck and shoulders. And likely stiffness in my legs due to everything tightening up. I would love to see more content for older women. The only other exposure to yoga I have is Rodney Yee AM yoga. I’m saving this program to work on it again, but if you have other content for someone like me, let me know. It can be disheartening when you can’t get through the moments that are probably so easy for younger people! I love your energy and approach to your teaching. I think you might find an audience with others like myself who are just so sore from sitting. Peace!

My first time back on the mat since total hip replacement surgery 10 weeks ago. Wow, it felt so good! My brain wanted to push it, my body said no. It's going to take me quite a while to get my flexibility back (I'm 75) but just being able to do any yoga at all is bliss for me. Thank you, Adriene, for making practices for everybody.

hmm ......always seeking some method or protocols to get me up out of my hips..so many positions are just me unable to "hinge" forward from the pelvis.... especially tight hamstrings....Too tight to even sit up wi straight legs out in front of me unless slightly "not up out of my hips" Been this way thru a very physically active life with modern dance and horses (yes they dont mix0 but now older and tighter

This is great! I am a 74 year old who has practiced yoga for many years. Not being able to find a gentle yoga offered in the morning, this will be perfect for me. Thank you.

I’ve never commented here, but feel compelled to do so today, as we say goodbye to our second dog, Scraps (a cairn terrier), this month. Today, I knew I needed a gentle practice to center myself and this was wonderful. My wife and I qualify as seniors (70) and Scraps’s real mama, our daughter, will be here to see him on his way. Thank You, Adrienne, for being real. Give Benji an extra hug…

Here from the Process playlist! On a low energy day, I really enjoyed spending time in each pose just breathing and trying to be meticulous about staying in the moment. It felt so soothing 💛

Adriene. I had a new experience today. I have been waiting for three months to return to yoga with you since microdiscectomy surgery. I did this gentle yoga practice with my surgeon’s permission. It felt soooo good that I cried tears of joy when I was telling my husband how good it felt to be back in my yoga practice! Thank you so much, your emotional friend, Kat❤
