Mistake right at the beginning. Their usual uniform colour was standard field grey. The black uniforms were ceremonial only. The only group who had black uniforms as standard were the tank crews.

I was born in October 1968 while my father was a USAF Captain (Pilot) stationed Ramstein Air Base. We lived there till 1974. In 1991 I joined the USAF in 2001-2005 I was Also stationed at Ramstein Air Base. Germany was a WONDERFUL place for American servicemen. My youngest son is currently in the USAF he’s a TSgt.
I always tell my son he Needs to go to Ramstein. He tells me it’s Nothing like it used to be in the “Old Days”
I’d love to go back to Germany (Europe) as a whole was Great when I was there. From what I’m told Not so much anymore.

@gerardusvdberg7337Like you stated in the beginning. SS soldiers who were involved in crimes were charged and dealt with. For the ones who were released, they should receive veteran benefits as soldiers of Germany. 🇩🇪

@kevinannett2220Many of the Waffen SS as well as Vermark soldiers from Germany made their way into the French foreign Legion. A lot of them were established in Algiers and Indo China.

@scotthill8787They weren’t feared on every front, in fact the British veterans that I spoke to who fought the SS told me the regular German army was more concerning as they were more organised, cautious and competent, and therefore more dangerous. They basically said the SS were ferocious fanatics but careless, arrogant and easier to handle as a fighting force.
@mdgcwoodSoldiers are Soldiers, winners write the history shape the rules. The people who use the imagery have no idea of the hell for all that war brings. In war it is the civilians, conscripted, young, and the poor that pay the price. War is bad you have to make it disscusting and unbearable if you dont want it to happen again. There are no war crimes just monsters made by the elites to do their bidding.
@TheJoeKisanueNuremberg was a kangaroo court, almost clownish. Being a German after the war was simply crime enough to do penance and suffer. Eisenhower put thousands of German soldiers in out door camps where hundreds died daily from exposure. Nothing like being a criminal to the criminals.
