What The Hell Happened To Eric Roberts?
🎬 What the Hell Happened to Eric Roberts?
From one professional to another - this isn't enough
Eric Roberts’ career is one of the wildest journeys in Hollywood history — a meteoric rise, a turbulent fall, and an unpredictable comeback that made him a cult legend. From Oscar nominations and 80s classics to VHS action flicks and modern blockbusters, Roberts has done it all… more than 800 times.
In this video, we explore his extraordinary career arc — from his early breakout roles in King of the Gypsies and Runaway Train, to his wilderness years as a straight-to-video fixture, and finally, his resurgence as a pop culture icon. This is the rise, fall, and fascinating reinvention of Eric Roberts.
I’ll always maintain that Best of the Best is an underrated gem of a movie. Such a great ensemble. I even like the second one, though that one falls into the "so bad it’s good" category.

Nobody can ever accuse ERIC of not having range, in the way he portrays roles, once you see the roles he takes on in these 2 movies:
In KING OF THE GYPSIES, he's the highly sympathetic rogue that almost all viewers are pulling for, and. then to something flipped over to completely opposite as the Totally Pathetic, Absolutely Nasty Villain of the Ancient Ages of HOMERIC STORY-TELLING in *THE ODYSSEY*, going up against one of the most MANLY HUNKS of Hollywood, ARMAND ASSANTE Who Portrayed One of the Greatest Legendary Heroes of Humankind,
* ODYSSEUS *.

In the 90s and 2000s i saw so many movies with Eric on tv that i would go "Well, here is Eric, again!", but in a good way. I knew he would play some crazy guy in any movie so i watched with bated breath for his eventual explosive scenes. He was so prolific that i felt like i had seen dozens of his movies in a decade. Im glad he jumped off the white horse and pulled himself together. Was a nice surprise seeing him in The Dark Knight, after many years of not seeing him. What a crazy legend!

He would make the perfect brother or even villain brother in a Lethal Weapon film with Mel Gibson.

There was the game "6 Degrees of Kevin Bacon." Honestly, though, it should be 6 Degrees of Eric Roberts. There will be some very short hops because of how prolific his career is.

When men are dicks to work with we say “you kinda did this to yourself.” When women are dicks to work with we say “men in power took your opportunity.” Silly

Thank you
I like him better than a sister. He's more real. Very hard-working. Good actor. There's a movie I want to see one of his early ones. Gypsy King

Fade To Black: 💼
I first heard of him in The Dark Knight where he played Salvatore Maroni. Seen him in some music videos, too.

Let’s be real… his career never recovered after the early promise. Between personal struggles and questionable project choices, he went from leading man material to appearing in anything that would pay.
@TheUntoldIcons-o8eIn the time some people take to agonize over one carefully crafted instagram post, Eric Roberts has appeared in six movies. And stole the show. And looked better.
@LeftTenantEvery episode of this series is kinda the same, right down to the language
@rumination2399I think he deserves the Guinness records as actor in most films of anyone❤
@KojoannaI love Eric Roberts movies
@ladymsthing6056A much more accomplished actor than his sister, Julia, in my opinion... I like Julia well enough, but, she always plays Julia no matter her character...same mannerisms and vocal patterns...
@greg6873And he’s still got the hair! Great video as always
@thewebstylistHad NO idea he was Julia Robert's brother
@lotusoverwaterukI loved him in the Stalked by my Doctor series on lifetime. There are like 6 of those movies right now.
@wiltedrosemikaI'd always remember him for Best of the Best series.
@reckz420Love your work.
@shapeshifter52001Never turn down work. Respect.
@conservativemike3768What happened to Lance henriksen
@dougmann66Awesome runaway Train was one of my favourite movies
@dougmann66I was walking across the Brooklyn Bridge when I ran into a filmmaker friend of mine. When I asked him what he was up to, he said, “I’m directing that guy over there.” When I looked, I saw Eric Roberts having a smoke in between takes! What a pleasant surprise, as I must’ve seen King of the Gypsies, Star 80, The Pope of Greenwich Village, and Runaway Train about a hundred times each when I was growing up! Yes, it seems he’s always working, no matter the quality of the project.
@johnpresnellWhy not mention Final analysis, he is very good in that movie 🤔
@einarvalentinoronn9870700 films?! Simply amazing, and ER is still an amazing actor.
@ianbauer4703Heck, everytime I see his face I think of the video for Mr. Brightside.
@matthewmills5423I've met him twice. Got a pic both times. A true delight and beautiful, warm human being.
@PastorKevinHe still continues to play The Master in his own Big Finish audio series. Would highly recommend
@DoctorMeglosBy the Sword, with F. Murray Abraham is one of my favorite movies.
@arthurford829I'm a young person but I am a HUGE fan of Eric Roberts and I have always lamented that his promising career was derailed by his heavy drug use and personal problems. King of the Gypsies is one of my favorite ever, I've watched it so many times and I've been on a mission to watch as many Eric Roberts films as I can, I'm on about 11 or 12 at this point. He is the most talented person in the Roberts family and yet he's so overlooked and it's sad. he also seems so incredibly humble, down to earth, he's vegan and he LOVES HIS KITTY CATS, and he's just such a nice guy. I always hope that a project comes along that's going to put him back on the map.
@TheWorldisQuietHere3Ele é o melhor e a irmã dele fez quantos filmes apenas um famosinho
@amogarapena8218I mean his acting in star 80 was just insane,in pure humanistic acting ,it could even overshadowed Heath ledger's joker,even micro expression like trembling lips at humiliation was just Outstanding
One of the greatest actors if not the greatest ever
And surely the most underrated actor in cinema history
Can you do a video about Aaron Eckhart and Loren Dean? meanwhile, Eric was always a much better actor than his overrated sister.
@Tabbylover55Yes! Best of the Best is one of my favorites. I also love his cameo in the Mr. Brightside video.
@metalmomrambles9005I met Eric at a convention, he was so friendly, put his arm around me and hugged me like he knew me forever. Very down-to-earth guy, I like his films a lot as well.
@SegaCDUniverseI prefer watching him as a villain. A top notch bad guy.
@infinitegaming2884He’s the most beautiful man who’s ever lived
@Thatblonde1976Eric Roberts is best of the best. Absolute legend.
@pliiatz7534He is in some of the Christian themed movies
