Fascinating watch! If you had to point to one factor as the biggest contributor to Rome's fall, what would it be? I'm curious to see what everyone thinks.

I see a lot of people mentioning it reminds them of USA today. While USA is indeed becoming weaker and weaker within, who do you think will attack them from all sides like it happened to Roman Empire? Canada? Mexico? Venesuela? USA has the geographical advantage that the Roman Empire did not have. The most it can happen is civil war, which is inevitably advantageous to the nationalistic Americans that want the USA to be actually great and prosperous again, bringing back "The American dream".

Ancient Roman civilization endured for roughly 2,200 years, evolving through three main phases from its traditional founding in 753 BC until the fall of the Byzantine Empire in 1453 AD.Because "Rome" meant different things throughout history, the timeline is typically divided into three primary eras:The Roman Kingdom & Republic: 753 BC – 27 BCLasted about 726 years. Starting as a small city-state, it grew into an expansive Republic governed by a Senate.The Western Roman Empire: 27 BC – 476 ADLasted 503 years as an empire. This is the period typically depicted in pop culture, formally beginning with Augustus as the first emperor. It officially collapsed in 476 AD.The Eastern Roman Empire (Byzantine Empire): 395 AD – 1453 ADLasted 1,058 years after the empire permanently split. It carried the Roman name, laws, and culture until its capital, Constantinople, fell to the Ottoman Empire in 1453 AD.

It's pretty simple if you watch any Roman History channels it's due to the fact that basically the same thing that's going on in America right now you have the supreme Court in the senators and then you have the president.. 60 senators in Rome killed in Julius Caesar because they were scared he was going to overthrow the Republic it's basically the same thing that's going to happen to America it's happening right now

Romulus Augustulus: Damn good deal

Rome was defeated:
1—By the Swabians in 400 BC; they set fire to Rome.
1—By the Swabians, the Bavarians, and the Tyrklingi—led by Odoacer—in 476 AD. They ruled the Roman Empire for 10 years.
2—Subsequently, the Goths arrived; they defeated the Swabians in 489 AD and took control of the Roman Empire under Theodoric.

It is easy all the leaders sucked and were greedy and all about me instead of about us and protecting borders. Basically Rome was like Enron

@ixupi1134

Romolus Augustus was definitely not the last emperor since as you mentioned, the empire continued with its eastern provinces. We give them the name Byzantium but they were known as Rome back then to everyone and they also referred to themselves as that….as top historians say that it is Rome, not some Sep was ate entity. The Roman Empire officially fell in 1453.
