We Lived in Portugal for 7 Months — Here's What Nobody Told Us
Video Overview & Insights
7 months into our life in Portugal — and y'all, nobody told us any of this.
Great video yall
We're an American family living in Portugal after packing up everything in North Carolina, and in this video we're breaking down the 5 honest lessons we've learned so far: the real money picture, what the "Portugal dream" actually looks like up close, the personal growth that followed us here, and whether we'd do it all over again.
We moved to Portugal chasing a slower, more affordable life abroad. Portugal gave us the beauty and the breathing room — but the full story? That's the part that never makes the highlight reel.
Great video. May God bless you . ❤❤❤
If you're thinking about moving to Portugal (or just dreaming about it), this is the video we wish we'd had before we booked our flights.

My cousin moved his family to Portugal but he didn’t like it. He left Portugal and moved to Amsterdam and he love it.

7months! That definitely went fast🤣 so I know y'all are still getting adjusted to everything and I think early on you explained why Portugal but was there any other place you considered? And how is traveling around getting to store, school, etc?

This was an amazing, universal conversation. Moving across the World is absolutely daunting, I'm sure...but your advice and candid look-back can apply to anyone moving just across a few States.
"Taking You with you" hit like a ton of bricks! The escapes that you might have had in the States, to get away from who you are in the presence of the one you love, are not as easy when it's just ya'll, trying to build this life and figure things out.
Y'all are some of the most wisest and mature young people in Social Media. I'm super proud of you guys!! ❤
Great vlog, but I have one question....Are you pregnant?🤰
@yolo1781You have each other to lean on. Any recommendations for a single person making this move without family or support?
@virtuallyyours7851That outro!!! ya'll are hilarious! Can already see you both at 70 year olds still married, happy and in love! Thank you for sharing with us!
@ashleyjohns9You two have really become a model couple for simple people who prefer living life to pursuing material things in a hurry. I love all your videos. Very educational.
@kamsy9269This is the best vlog yet. I really loved the transparency showed when you spoke about the grief/loss you experienced being without family. Often, I consider moving, but I'm single and senior, so I am concerned about exactly that. However, in reality I don't see or hear from family or so-called friends on a regular basis. If I am honest, I experience that type of grief/loss here in the USA. I faced my fears earlier in life and moved from Maryland to Montréal for a two-year assignment with the UN. I traveled the world and have been to 36 countries. But, I'm older now and not in great health, so I'm living vicariously through you guys. 😂Thanks for sharing your experiences. I'm so very proud of you both. I've been with you since the MAFS wedding and remain a loyal fan. Take good care of each other and Declan. Blessings 🙏🏿
Question: Did you factor in trips back home? If so, how many did you budget for?
Great video. My husband and I have thought about for YEARS moving to another county. We’re getting older ( not OLD) and I keep wondering want would one of us do if for some reason we no longer had the other. Like do we put in a contingency plan for returning to the US? Well, the video definitely was informative. Enjoy,
@gwenmason4224From a Portuguese. Thank you for appreciating my country.
@RAllInPTYes, it is a bold move to quit your jobs, sell your home, cars and other things to live internationally. I hope you find success in this new chapter of your life.
Are you citizens of Portugal or do you have to apply for citizenship? What happens if you are not granted citizenship do you continue to keep renewing your visa and have to come back-and-forth? Are you able to vote in their elections?
If you decide to have more children and they are born in Portugal, will they automatically get citizenship ?
How long did it take you to research whether or not you wanted to live in Portugal? Did you stay in the country at least 3 to 6 months to see whether or not you wanted to make the move?
Hello 👋👋 family love you too 👋🙏🙏🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦♥️♥️💜💜💕💕💗💗
@khaboninadlangalala5Really love your videos. Greetings from Oklahoma.
@juanitaevans2715Congratulations on your move. I have followed from the beginning. Praying for your family
@FoodDecorbyTammySuch an awesome video. I love how you both gave your perspective on moving. My daughter just visited Portugal and she said it was amazing.
@DishinITwithDOmg congratulations I can't believe you guys moved to Portugal many blessings to you and your family
@BrittanyThompson-k8zStay great!
@jessdee9854Curious about the weather, y'all have on jackets. Is it cold?
@ms.d6857Will yall get another pet?
@kathyweaver1239I'm not sure if you all answered this, but what were both families true and honest reactions when you told them that you were moving? Deonna how did your sister feel? Greg what about your mom? And other family members?
@ltimore451Isn't it ironic that people from European countries are flooding the Internet expressing their love for the US and the people here. Many are saying they want the life style we have here. Just shows that one man's trash is another man's treasure.
@mhis7208Great life tips in general
@Martina_ESo happy for y’all. Thanks for being transparent and sharing your journey
@Trice_Marie84This was a great video! Continue to enjoy and learn from this experience.

@sr98bjI love how you both are so respectful of each other.
@MsCassmarDeonna's hair has really grown in these 7 months.., beautiful family
@GodDontPlayAboutMeI’m curious about diversity in Portugal? Is it a racially diverse country? Does your son see other people in his school/class that look like him?
@beverlywagner562My husband and I are full-time expats and are considering Portugal or Spain for the long term, but our biggest reservation is the taxes. I know it's probably too soon to speak on it, but I would love any insight on what the two of you have learned about it.
@lodiegalthank you for the tips.
@JJ-kf6hiHappy July & Happy Thursday Beautiful People 🤎🤎🤎🤎🤎🤎🤎& Beautiful Family🤎🤎🤎🤎🤎🤎🤎🤎🤎☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️
@MelloneeKeciaIt looks really beautiful there. Please share more videos of the buildings, landscapes and coastlines. I've been following ya'lls journey since the very beginning. I'm really proud of how ya'll have worked together, to overcome the many obstacles life put in ya'lls path. I know things haven't been easy, and there's a lot going on behind the camera, but I believe ya'll can work everything out and be alright. Will Declan ever get his wish for a baby sister?? He's really adorable, and would make an awesome and helpful big brother. Much love to you both and Declan!!
@SparkieLady3From what I can see on your videos, Portugal is beautiful .
@pamelajefferson5725Thank you for being transparent 🖤🖤🖤🖤🎉❤
@rpcrealpeopleconsulting6324every think about helping people from the us who want to movie there
@peggysuegiggles93837snf sounds how i gre up in 70
@peggysuegiggles9383do you have jobs
@peggysuegiggles9383That's great that people go to the mall and you don't have that rush, hustle like in America, where everything is buy, sell, buy, sell, buy, sell, now, now. Unfortunately, this hustle in America is truly the downside and prevents you from taking the moment to savor each experience life has to offer.
@Barb-e7tHow are the people there ?????
@FashionNew5God bless you both
