Not sure how you can eat street food without getting severe bacterial infections. I travalled to Jakarta, Indonesia and my mother gave me a street food vendor pastry. I almost died in the ER because my gut was shutting down and I was throwing up! The ER doctor had to pump antibiotics through IV line to save my life. I love looking at the street food when I travel internationally but I am too scared to eat it. It was ok if the restaurants are clean and they prepared the food safely. I love eating the sea snails in Tanjung Pinang, they cooked them and prepared them well.

Pham Ngu Lao is a great place to stay if you want to be close to the center of Saigon but still have many affordable options. I stayed in a small hotel nearby and discovered Dan’s Wash & Stay at 185/10 Pham Ngu Lao while walking around. It is a self service laundry open 24 hours where you can wash and dry your clothes quickly for about 30K per load. Another useful thing is that they provide luggage storage as well, which helps a lot if you want to walk around the city without carrying heavy backpacks.
