You have to drag pastures unless you are using a manure spreader or chemicals to fertilize them. Don't ever listen to others because everyone has different situations on their farm!
@ajlewis9454😂 its pronounced All-dee. We have shopped there for a long time. Was our main source when we were on a budget.Love it. But now we shop kroger for the majority.
@SugaryVirusMaybe those helicopters could seed your clouds instead of dropping ticks
@GeorgeErvin-i2nGreat videos and info you should make a shirt or something with randy the rooster on it
@jonathannelson3348I know you are doing a good job with dragging and liming the pastures ! What I am proposing will be an added expense , How come you dont utilize the ponds and creeks you have (available water) to irrigate over night then move the irrigation stuff for the cows to have lush grass?
@bencarter2807You and your A-Team quotes!!🙂
@chcgostyle😊
@PollyLufkinI'm soooo happy u kept the farm!!
@mrmike6711Good idea on the well remote monitoring , for when you are away , its domestic not farming but when away I normally turn off the outside water supply going into the house , as once left for a half marathon and came home to $35K of water damage from leaving the water dripping into the vanity which overflowed (fortunately insurance paid out)
I now have overflow outlets on the replacement vanity and bath ! Your calves have nice shiny coats . Hope you have a nice break away .
I guess a supplementary gravity feed, water supply from a header tank on a hill would help to make sure cows get water , if the power went out when you are away ?
Who ever say spreading the manuer out just ain't to dam bright !
@robertsmith7580Dad always told me don't pay for anything in advance, once they already have your money they are only worried about what they gotta do to get some one else's !
@robertsmith7580Hey Josh thank you for the video woo
@scottsmith6846How do you keep the carpenter bees out of ur cedar lid boards on ur porch?
@rickwilliams3515Morning from NZ young fella yes you will get back lash for drag harrowing but people need to stop & think it’s free fertiliser & the time it takes to drag harrow it out ways the cost of paying for fertiliser & the spreader to apply it. Back in the day it was very common but now days fertiliser companies & farm advisory people have pushed man made fertiliser. Keep doing what you’re doing it’s cost affective & you get to observe the conditions of your soil & pastures. Doing good young fella it’s the good lord’s free fertiliser.
@Tony-dz3dcThe drag harrow makes sense to me, the unintiated... I do have a Biology degree though, Liberal Arts... BA biology. Well, Well!! LOL When the rain comes you have had done everything to prepare for it!
Now, that's a rancher man!
Cracking vid sir... question for you.. do you get your large drag harrow with the option to go on the lift arms of the tractor? Somtimes seems a bit long for towing about 😊. Stay safe 🏴
@ianhaggart1438Good video today God bless
@midwayfarmsWe live in Asheville, NC. Three weeks ago we were paying $4.09 for gas. Yesterday I drove by the same place and it was $3.69. 🤷
@Vicki_and_JimC.Everything you sell cost more too.
@timeverett4212Man you are hurting for rain. Wish you luck. Hope you don’t get a gully washer when you do get it. Keep your fingers crossed.
@JamesSmith-f6x9l🤔what would it do for the soil if you were to deep disc and pull as much rock as you can from the AO ? I'd really like to see You dig in about 8 inches ,soften up the acreage ,kind of purify and debris then start the hay rolling on a fresh field....
@harpereu9271Thieves are stealing cows and chickens now… no BS . Go search it.
@MrTrekFanDanI'm not telling you how to run your business and I don't pretend to know everything. That's the problem but if you're in a drought and you have wells, why aren't you watering?
@buckjones5083I'm 69. We dragged pastures back in the 70s and it made the grass thicker. Good job on what your doing. Kept up the good content. Have a good day.
@cliff-k2wWhen you were driving that calve through to the gate, I know for a fact that I heard that old modem connect sound "buzz whir click buzz buzz th th th." dinga dinga clik"
@buckjones5083Josh 👍😮😊❤
@toddpacheco4748Josh, I'm very confident that the president will end this shitty war soon. Okay?. I do believe that prices will go back down and oil prices will reduce. That said, greedy son of bitches that have made the prices of everything go up will not fully reduce everything with their prices for everything go down. Think about it. It's happened over and over and over again and these people do not go back to where it should be.
Two things have got to come out of this war:
1. Number one, the biggest honking thing's got to happen is "IRAN CANNOT HAVE A NUCLEAR WEAPON".
2. Everything else, as far as I'm concerned, is irrelevant!
You know the problem I have is the quote "Never give up what you can keep" and I guarantee that everyone that has raised prices, (which has risen far beyond what the price of gas and oil was), and because of greed the prices will not go back down to Previous Iranian war prices.
I do have a simple question for you though. Can I buy your beef? I am in Southern California. I'd like to know if I can buy your beef in California or is some bureaucratic weenie in the way so that I can't?
Happy to hear you're getting some away time, I'm sorry my little experience in farming has taught me that the idea that everything that you learn new from nowadays is right and everything that the old folks tell you about is wrong is a pile of BS.. many an old farmer shared that Dragon was absolutely necessary to invigorate a hay field. The only thing I would think that I would do in your situation and yet I don't know your land and your weather is to add legumes into the soil and definitely rye and tillage radishes in the fall.. there's all kinds of iterations of that but the Clover Alfalfa and Sweet Clover up here are all great for breaking the soil up and getting nutrition from down below and moisture as a result of it. Many a farmer has found out that the tops on the different forage radishes and beets provide so much winter feed under the snow that's silly they never did it before. I can tell you that in the 1900s in Germany they used beats to feed the cows and they had no corn and very little hay to put up. Stock beats produced a lot and stored well and the cattle love them and produce a lot of milk. Would love to see you trying some of that out on one of your fields. Yes that stuff is expensive but shop around and you can get outside of the hybridized high-dollar seeds and do pretty good. I've always used Vernal alfalfa that would reseed itself. Before I was injured I was heading into raising rye and going through the procedure to have it certified. Turned out I only needed to send samples into the Indiana State chemist. The other thing was you had to have the seed clean. It was the way I figured you could grow a crop in the summer and the winter. You might look into that.. there was a guy in the local area who milks a bunch of dairy cows and has a lot of manure and he grows corn in the late spring just for silage and then follows it up with Rye in the fall that he uses for green chop in the spring. It's a major input that takes care of almost all of his cows food.
@robertschumacher472Outstanding video. Thank you 👍🇺🇸🚜
@btrent9244I roll hay out too, but when i move my cows to another pasture i mow the ships before i drag it seems to make it break down better, and i don't end up with big clumps in places!
@jwde2630Nice pasture maintenance
@johnsandell4501I hope your days away are a vacation Brother with that beauty of yours.. or even a business trip with her.. Have fun ,be safe traveling… 🙌🏻🇺🇸🇺🇸⚓️
@mikemiraglia7469Even daddy got his cardo in today!!! 😂😂😂
@mikemiraglia7469Good job, Cowboy Josh! 🤠👍
@ShortbusMoonerNearest Aldi's is 45 minutes away. 😢
@Katy_marieIs that Red dog calf on the run there going to give you the slip & the eye like his daddy; dragging grass with Wingfield America harrow its A Batwing special. My name's Bat wing ! 😊
@davidmack8813Randy tacos?🌮🌮🌮🌮🌮
@Katy_marieI been following you a long time . Maybe five years now. Or more. Grass has come a long way. It almost look like a desert with no grass when you first started the farm .
@kevin1gasmanTrump put out a video about the oil . We have so many barrels now in stock fuel prices will be becoming down soon . It’s been going down in my area. In Tx . We’re down in about $3 a gallon . That will be lowering the cost of everything else. Enjoy.
@kevin1gasmanHi Josh, I’m not a farmer & didn’t stay at that one hotel chain! But was wondering if adding some weights the harrow would be more effective?
@kwscotchNever thought it would be so satisfying to watch a pasture get drug. Love watching the constructive content Josh! Keep doing what works on your farm, regardless of detractors (they’ll always be there). Praying for rain. We have lots up here in Ohio so we’d love to send some your way 😉🌧️
@drivinolered5835Josh I use hot Wire one string between the paddocks. Let the calves go wherever they want to ,that's where you're making your money.
@danmiller4774Josh, don't you have a manure spreader? I know in the past you've had double grind wood chips on hand. Maybe get more of that and spread it. Or and brace yourself but find a neighbor who has a big pile of manure! Maybe trade some beef for some 100% grade A natural fertilizer!
And there's them days when the struggle bus is packed that all a guy knows is it's a day that ends in "Y" 😂
Four words for drought protection... solar in ground sprinkling system.
@karlnitz1126BASELINE: Was just at the local grocery store here in Austin tx (HEB). 18 large eggs were $2.17, xl $2.43. Mid grade gas was $3.63, reg was $3.23. Beef is high mainly because last years drought and herd reduction.
