No other band uses guitars to create such a beautiful soundscape like Travis. I adore Johnny Marr. And the Smiths made some beautful recordings, especially as they matured. But I dont think Marr ever totally produced the sound he was after. He got close on "Strangeways". Had the Smiths continued Marr wouldve eventually gotten that sound. I think Travis creates the kind of rich, cinematic guitar sound Marr was after.
