While as a 20 some year Magic veteran I’m incredibly irritated with how UB has been rolled out and is being handled, I’m also a deep, deep comics geek and these stories and characters have long been formative and important to me AND my identity(Marvel in particular has a long history of progressive and inclusive stories for BIPOC and Queer representation for over half a century)

That being said, Spider-Man left me very cold, and felt joyless and flat, so needless to say I was extremely apprehensive about this set more than any other this year. However, at least to this old codger, after seeing the full set(and jumpstart) while the sheer volume of cards is a bit overwhelming, I can feel the love and care from the Designers this set. So many deep cuts, sticking as close to strictly the comics and not soulless MCU brand synergy(except leaning on the movie version for Wakanda, because the Visual Design for the BP films are just too darn good) as they could, and a fun and deep looking limited format.

As much as the rapidity of releases and cross ip suffusing is burning me out faster than an opening hand Quicksilver, if they’re GOING to do crossovers, I want them to be full sets with as much visible love and care as this set and Final Fantasy have gotten.

I really want this to be the very last Marvel set. Three is too many and the influx of UB has given me the biggest fucking ick to the point where I don't want to support or play thing game anymore. Almost.
I'm absolutely not buying anything from it or anything Star Trek either.

I don't understand the "shang-Shi - Vivi" thing ... Vivi doesn'T need Shang-Shi at all since he doesn' tap to activate his first ability (he can already activate his mana ability) and his second ability is a triggered one.. What am I missing? Unless he was just compairing the 2 ?

Mind Stone is genuinely awful, standard is way too fast for it to be useful at all, and indestructible is dogshit in an environment where blue has access to multiple sources of bounce, requiring you to pay for mind stone's activated ability multiple times if you ever want to actually stick it.

The best new card in MSH for standard is Speedball, New Warrior.

It completely dodges all removal, AND redirects ANY spells that target it FOR FREE while pumping itself +2/+2 for EACH SPELL THAT TARGETS IT. Wild Ride and Self-Destruct make it lethal on turn 4.

Cast Speedball turn 3 on curve, pass, turn 4 he will still be down because you can't remove him, turn 4 cast wild ride giving him +5/+2, harmonize wild ride giving him +10/+4, cast self-destruct on him giving him +12/+6 for an immediate 14 damage nuke assuming you are doing all of this before combat step.

Even better, Secret Identity gives him base power 3/4 flying vigilance, and Pym Particles makes him unblockable plus draws a card. No matter how you add it up, he is capable of completely nuking an opponent with as little as 4 mana.
