As a person who finds problems with most lists, this one is great. My only comments would be Jimmy Webb was a great songwriter, but not renowned as a singer. One omission for me would be Springsteen.

So many to choose from. I think I would've included Pete Seeger. Also, though he's not thought of in this category, Mark Knopfler is a great song writer and storyteller.

There are some great songs on this list but there are some great songs and songwriters missing. I would include Let it Be, Paul McCartney, My Thanksgiving, Don Henley, Brother Love's Traveling Salvation Show, Neil Diamond, Sound Of Silence, Simon & Garfunkel, Starfish and Coffee, Prince, Imagine, John Lennon, Pink Houses, John Mellencamp, Scarecrow, John Mellencamp, Human Wheels, John Mellencamp, Everything is Different Now, Don Henley, and I can go on.

I have said for 50 years that both sides now was the perfectly Written song. I'm not saying it was the greatest song ever written it may be but that's not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about a song that has a beginning a middle and an end and takes you through an entire life. The organization the storytelling it just cannot be beaten

@MikeKing-jy9tkI would have place your 6 to 10 ahead of your top 5. Jim Croce number ONE and James Taylor number TWO, Joni Mitchell number 6. Paul Simon, he is good but I would have place his songs at number 9 Bob Dylan number 10. Summer Breeze number 5. I think I like my choices better. I would have place Leader of the Band in the top 10.
