The spread of cities here is really interesting — a lot of people default to Madrid or Barcelona without realising how liveable some of the smaller cities have become for remote workers. One thing that doesn't come up much in these videos but can genuinely shape your choice of base: if you're moving with pets, some cities have much better access to international-standard vets and pet import services than others. Worth a thought if that's part of your situation.

Great video.
The fam and I were just in Málaga a few weeks back and couldn't imagine a more well balanced family friendly medium sized Spanish city... At least in early February.
I love Valencia but the humidity is no joke and you have to be OK with that and/or using A/C like it's Atlanta, Georgia in August. Also it's already getting Barcelona level popular with prices pretty close to matching. Additionally, I feel like many beautiful parts of Spain have local climates that will be relatively hostile to humans (floods, drought, fire) in the next generation or so if long term planning is your thing.
TL:DR... I plan on exploring the North more and/or sticking with Andalucia and just leaving town a couple months each year.

Thanks for the list. It is a fairly comprehensive collection.

Love this list and appreciate the varied regional diversity....particularly the North.
@chamlo11Spain actually just sucks. Rudest people on the entire planet. Worse than Morocco
@survivorislandInteresting no Seville! I've personally been to Valencia, Barcelona, Salamanca, Seville, Malaga, and Cadiz. I LOVE Seville and Barcelona. Cadiz was awesome but definitely older feeling population wise and kind of empty feeling. Valencia was ok and JUST ok for me. It had no energy to speak of. Kind of just mute to me and not very good food on top of that.
However, Malaga was just ASSSSSSS!!!! I couldn't stand it! The people their SUCCCCCCKED and the city itself sucked to. I was baffled by how so many people love it. The beach is trash, green space is trash, no "home" feeling at all, and the angry old spanish people there are EXTRA trash!!! Food was HORRIBLE!!!!! It's SUPER trafficy too. I couldn't stand it.
But the craziest part about Malaga was that I had the best flat white I ever had EASILY!!!! If you're ever there check out Santa coffe. There's two places side by side. One has JUST coffee and one has food and coffee. I went to the coffee side. Guy from Romania (iirc) runs it is named Radu. Shoutout to Radu!
I really appreciate this list. Some of us what an authentic experience. I looking to make a life in the Girona/Roses area.
@TheChrysalisAIMadrid local here (born and raised). I do not recomment it here since the accommodation is already too expensive, it is crowded with services such aspublic transport, public health, etc. already saturated; in short: too many people here already.
Medium cities in Spain are great to move to, such as Valladolid, León, Zaragoza, La Rioja or Pamplona have a great quality of life and they aren't even named in this video! My recommendation is to check those out as well.
Barcelona is invaded by Aliens, no safety anymore. By the Mediterranean my favourite including its surroundings is Malaga. North side if still need to work as you've said Bilbao is the place. I love San Sebastian, but my number one is Santander. Architecture and its vibe is just amazing. By the way: It's connected to the UK by ferry 2 or 3 times per week to two destinations taking from 20 to 30 hours. The advantage of San Sebastian is that France and the amazing Biarritz is right there. Great video. Cheers
@grandadanHay más vida más allá de Madrid por el centro del país. Las ciudades no estarán tan pobladas pero habrá mucha más tranquilidad
@anacado2187Congrats on 100K and nice to see you and your excellent quality video again🙏😀
@Godlvr008Great overview of Spain. We spent 2 weeks apiece in Valencia and Alicante last year. Though we liked them both, we could envision living in Alicante more easily. Really need to explore Northern Spain next.
@dave.wendy.wanderThese are all pretty solid choices, but I’ll shamelessly shill for Northern Spain and add Burgos, Zaragoza and Pamplona to that list, especially because I tend to melt with the southern heat! 😅
One other thing worth mentioning is that if you really want to integrate into the Basque Country and Catalonia, you’d probably need to learn (or at least understand) Basque and Catalan.
