I think it's very odd that they portrayed the wealthy being evacuated first and the crew even caging in the third class passengers. Many people assume that this is historically true and it creates unnecessary division.

And there was class discrimination in the boats. More 1st class women survived than 2nd and 3rd.

So all the characters in titanic are based in reality because they were historically written to be as accurate as possible. The stories are what can be proven.

Ok, that bit about "too small a rudder" deserved it's own spot here. Spoiler alert: it's false. Titanic was relatively maneuverable for a ship it's size. For example, Olympic, Titanic's sister ship successfully maneuvered and rammed a U-boat during WW1. A ship that "doesn't turn worth a damn" could have never done that. There were other weather phenomena at play that night that weren't mentioned in the movie that caused the iceberg not to be spotted until as late as it was.

At least we know for sure that Jack didn't start the car, accidentally knock it into gear and ram the hull.

On the lifeboats.. while there were not enough for all passangers, they didnt actually have time to fill and release all of the lifeboats that they had. TWO lifeboats went down with the ship, and according to tests done by James Cameron himself its actually impressive that they filled as many as they did.

Split between 2nd and 3rd funnel and the movie shows between 3rd and 4th, clearly "False"

The number one thing that she forgot to mention was how the titanic went down You see titanic didn't just go straight down It listed side to side as she went it was only at the very end where she strained out And dropped like a rock not to mention the way she split in half was way too high of an angle while yes, she did split it wasn't that dramatic as it was predicted in the movie

The band “playing” while the ship sank is Bull Shit!!! It’s a disgusting misnomer that needs to go away! It never happened, there was no time to keep playing instruments.. it was god damn mass hysteria, fake rumour…

The ederly couple were the owners of Macys and the gates were always opened not closed as the ship sank survivors of third class confirmed it. I mean really keep the gates closed as the ship sank is very stupid in case of an emergency most third class died because the ship was huge and didn't know how to get on deck most of them didn't know or understand English.

Wonder if rats are accurate or fact, if so, then that's a horrible sign to begin with or lack of attention to detail on a massive ship.

Like in other Titanic movies, I also seem to notice the 1997 movie "Titanic" was very inaccurate in the portrayal of the iceberg. In the movie, the iceberg is portrayed as a sharp peak on one side and a "camel's back" peak on the other side. Many survivors and photographers at the scene the morning after the sinking portray the iceberg as 3 sharp peaks, one tall center peak with two shorter, sideways peaks, one on each side of the tall center one. In other words, the iceberg that sank the Titanic kind of looked like a hand with 3 short stubby "fingers."

Personally i think the captain survived ,but got injured while escaping and died later from infection

Honestly makes me wonder how calming it really would be to see the ship you are on sinking and people around you panic just to hear music playing as the ship goes down more and more

At the end of point 7 time 4:00 "to big ship with too smal rudder" is incorrect. This line in the movie have made many people thinkt that Titanics ability to steer was verry poor. But that's not true at all. Titanics sister ship the Olympic the same sized ship had the same size rudder and her captain of that ship has stated that Olympic had outstanding manuverability. Titanic was just to close to the Iceberg when they started to turn.

Fact: later, the middle piece of where it broke in half (bilge keel to bilge keel) was found either east or west a bit from the wreck. This also proved that the iceberg may have struck underneath as well as on the side of the ship.

Fact: the lifeboats were not filled to capacity at all, some weren’t even half full.

The true fact is that they didn't have enough lifeboats on the ship because they thought the deck would look too crowded which caused a big mistake later one.

Actually about jack and rose rose was 7 as she was on the titanic and jack 11 so they were real but there wasn't a live story

The Titanic did split in two, but it was lower in the water when it happened and probably not as spectacular as it was in the movie.

The fact that the story told to the youngsters from their mother was about going through the water to get eternal life is so heartwrenching 😢❤

One last tiny detail: if the woman telling a fairy tale to her 2 kids had truly been Irish, she wouldn't have pronounced it Tír na n'og (as in "egg nog") but Tír na n'Óg (to rhyme with "rogue").

While watching a Blu-ray version of this movie, I noticed a string connected to a shot glass under Mr. Andrews' armpit that pulls the glass off the mantle while the camera shoots on an angle to make the ship 🚢 look its going down.

What some of you might not know, life boats are the supposed to be the definition of last, last ditch resort.
Many people thought titanic would not actually sink until the stern it self went almost horizontally.

As for the life boats themselves, survivors were lucky for the waters to be calm, had they not been a lot more people likely would have d13d, its not that hard for them to be flipped.

Not to mention, even if they had enough boats a lot of them could not have been put with people and lowered safety due to how little time they had left.

4:03 you say it's a fact but the actors are literally stating something false at that moment : the rudder was not too small.

The last fact seems to be untrue. A survivor named Masabumi Hosono said the crewman didn't want him go to the life boats since he was in 3rd class.

I figure everyone knew Jack and Rose were fictional characters. The California was in the movie. They shut off their communications in the movie.
