Tokyo’s Closest Costco Store & Train Station | Getting to Makuhari-Toyosuna

Video Overview & Insights

Going shopping for your family often means Costco, warehouse member shopping and this one is the closest for most of Tokyo - Makuhari. A new train station has made it much easier to visit and shop at now! Map:

Don’t bother.
Nothing but disappointment!

Great info to hear! I missed out last time I was in Japan because it was so far from where we were staying but we can do it next time now! I'm curious, what app did you use to show us the Costco location in respect to Disney?

Well you just lost me as a subscriber. You should never give your opinion on either politics or religion. It can’t ever end well.

First Costco in Japan opened here in Fukuoka in 1999, as a test, and it was successful, so they opened more.

Any more kids coming John or you sticking with just the one. Not that he doesn't look like a handful already.

It wasn't just an election but I guess that's easy to say when it no longer affects you! 🤷🏽‍♂️ The problem IS the type of person people chose to represent them!!🙄

It's heavy cos of the soaps. The faster the world moves towards dry soaps the better tbh. I'm not so much into the green tech thing, but I can't imagine hauling all that liquid weight - be it seller or consumer - making any sense.

It is wonderful that the train station is close to Costco. It was a long walk from the old station. Another place to visit. By the way, is there a location that you can courier the groceries? Thanks John.

Aloha John. Ugh! I missed this livestream but just finished watching the replay. This was a fantastic livestream my brother. I love that there's a train station near the Costco there. Leave it to Japan to make things more efficient and convenient for people to commute to. One of the many-many things about Japan that makes being there so wonderful. My apologies for missing a few of your livestreams. So much going on with the upcoming holidays. Can you believe Christmas is already a little more than a month away? Crazy right? Mahalo for sharing the continued changes in and around Japan. Miss you my bro!

John, your comments about the election are really tone deaf. On the other hand, watch out when IU (10-0) plays Ohio State (9-0) in a couple of weeks.

I wanted to go to Costco in Japan but didn’t have time on my first trip there recently. And yes, if you left a bag outside in San Francisco it would be gone before you came back.

Thank you John for bringing and sharing relevant content that helps to navigate Japan when my family and I visit from Hawaii. Japan to me is our ninth island❤

It's been fourteen years since I left Saitama, but I remember once after my lunch break, I walked in past the receptionist/manager declaring I absolutely love Tokyo. She looked at me like I had lost my mind, before I explained how beautiful the blue skies and common they were in and around Tokyo, so seeing that sky shot after you cross the road, just bought back a lot of fond memories. Yea there was one time I was sat with a fellow expat colleague in KFC in Soka during our break. This man walks in puts down his laptop on a table and leaves. We continue talking for what seemed to be about 30 minutes before my colleague turns around looks at the laptop and then back at me, and asked "Did he just leave that there? (referring to the laptop) Ya know if that happened in the UK, it'll be gone in seconds". The station kinda reminds me of when Koshigaya Laketown mall opened, very similar vibes from the first few days that mall opened to the public. Very similar even to the volume of traffic around that mall the first few months it was opened.

Best advice an old guy can give you. Don’t talk politics. Not ever. Whatever you say about politics costs you .

we're women taking the election hard, a lot of it effects us this time around. Decisions threatened to be made about our autonomy. So yeah, we're taking the election hard. It's not funny over here. It's sad and depressing the state of things. I am trying to be hopeful as a democratic woman, but the current elect makes it hard to see past all the threats made.

There is a costco in Tama, i think that will be closer at least for the people living in central or west Tokyo.

The US Costcos I think stopped offering the free onions for their hot dogs because people were just taking lots of the diced onions home for free. I never did put it on slices of pizza, but that's a great idea. Funny that you use a n IKEA bag! We of course just take a bunch of boxes from Costco and stack stuff in the car. I drive to our Costco nearby three, sometimes four times a week. We've gone to the Makuhari location a lot over the years, and am glad to hear about the closer station! Last year when we were in Tokyo we took the JR train to a Costco in Saitama, which was also close to the station. But it was so damned crowded it was not a pleasant experience. We also have visited Costco in Kyoto and Hiroshima. Love seeing what's different in Japan's Costcos.

They don’t offer the onions at the food court in America anymore. At least, not in the North Texas area.

The Costcos been there at least 20 years id say. I remember going there when i was in middle school or high school. We would take a bus from kaihin makuhari and it felt far and it was just sitting in the middle of nowhere. Back then they for sure had more things from the US. But now in order to have more local japanese customers they also have japanese products. Theres one now in Kisarazu but i have not been to that one even if i live in Kisarazu.

@jaysato

Why do they drop you off at costco, but dont pick you up there?
