A bit late in the game, but why didn't anyone mentioned the apparent lack of coordination from the team cars?

There is no rule that the Peleton has to sit up and wait for the Yellow to pull up or out, the men do it for respect for a tradition from when they were paid hundreds of thousands dollar a year.. Generally speaking, Women's cycling doesn't follow that tradition because it has never been made, and It wasn't like Vollering lost the Jersey for it, considering she was in #1 again this year.

Vollering lost the Tour, because of Wiebes....her teammate!

I am trying to follow womens sports more and I like LR so I clicked on this video and, I will not be following womens cycling. Embarassing behaviour.

Peloton is as peloton does.. "crashing" out of contention 🎉

Given what happened in this year’s TdF (2025) Demi Vollering is not looking too good

@JMcLeodKC711
@

thanks, great break down.... I was very confused of the SDW team tactics after Demi's crash and been confused for months. So, glad Demi has FDJ teammates now.

@homergaijin7572
@

Let's tell the truth here: Vollering wasn't betrayed. She was so unpopular and disliked by her team that no one felt the need to support or help her. Demi treats her teammates like rubbish, hence their lack of respect for her. Not even the DS's wanted to support her. She is a bad person.

4 s.

She got a lot of sympathies, and I will cheer for her until the end of time!

Just slammed on my bike today. DEMI VOLLERING IS THE GOAT

Days later I've been reading about this. I think there's something also going on we don't know about. From the way Rooaykers wouldn't work with her on Alpe, to last year when Van Vleuten - who was maybe the most well admired cyclist in the peloton, even put on her brakes when riding with Demi, refusing to chase a break with her. I'm not saying Demi is a bad person, at all, just that I think people know her talent and aren't going to give her an inch. Some maybe resent it. And it sucks some of those people are on her own team.

@PhilAndersonOutside
@

maybe its justme.....but i thought the unwritten rule was you DO NOT attack the yellow jersey if they have crashed??

@scuba5teve149
@

I agree - this is a terrible way to treat your star performer. The only one who comes out of this with any class is Demi. Her team and especially Wiebes (who I admireD up to this) dropped the ball and let her down - actually crashed her out and didn't even stop to check and see if she needed a bike! WTF?? A stage win vs the Tour? WTF?

I hope Demi finds a team that appreciates and supports her top class talent before next season.
SDW has always had trouble managing their multiple captains. This reveals a whole new level of poisonous team dynamics - or maybe their DS is incompetent; clearly the team is primarily relying on nothing but the shear strength of their expensive stars which they apparently feel free to treat like trash.

@obikedog
@

SD Worx team is always full of drama, poorly lead.
SD Worx is an HR company and if this is the way they treat their stars you know how they're going to treat their clients' employees.
I'm a consultant and I've had it happen twice that a job I landed with a company was cut short because of SD Worx not being able to cope with me being on that companies payroll without them handling it. Twice, so it was not a misunderstanding, not a mistake. It's just what they are.
They couldn't get away with this sh!t with male riders.

@Cohen.the.Worrier
@

The real winner is Vollering. Kasia won the yellow thanks to Vollerings fall which was not her fault and injuries due to this crash. That’s not a real victory because she was better. That’s pure luck.

@RudolfJohMoll

SD Dont Worx

Womens racing never fails to disappoint! Absolutely baffling.

@PeakTorque

Too much lumber on these riders

@CharlesWessel
@

Agree, Massive fail for the team that cost them the GC win!

@kitesurferpeter
@

And now we know she lost the Tour with only 4 seconds
.. those could have been won here by helping her on not sprinting at the end with the group

@Giusie79
@

In hindsight I wonder if her teammates realized by failing to help bring Demi to the finish line the team and every team member lost money. Clearly Demi would have won the tour de France Femmes if she hadn't started the final stage so far behind.

@edhill8568
@

Is this retaliation because she is leaving the team next year???

@robertherrera1546
@

This lost her the tour😼

@HAZandSAZ
@

Wiebes is trash for this.

@IndweltTemple
@

Now that we know Demi would go on to lose the GC by 4 seconds... this highlights video (and especially Wiebes's comments) is genuinely stunning and appalling in equal measure

@cnglight
@

Isnt it well known that most people dont like demi vollering

@hellohello-yi8yr

Lance, butterfly effect and lanterne rogue have all highlighted this blunder.

@janefreeman995
@

women ethics are diffferent, it's not the first time remember vuelta.

@powerwindpro
@

Whoever is making decisions for DS needs to be sacked, possibly along with some of the team. Vollering ends up losing the TDF by 4 seconds, that could have easily been recovered here, which would have been a massive achievement for the team. Vollering was superhuman to almost win the TDF from here. Her team and team-mates were the worst of the worst - I mean, not even junior club riders make such poor decisions. This will have repercussions for the future as the team has shown it cannot be trusted to make decisions for the good of the team, so it might as well be every woman for herself.

@davidjames3080
@

I will never support sdworx. Absolutely no ethics or sportsmanship. They left Demi alone this entire season. Shameful for the way they treat the rider who gave so much.

@appala
@

Yeah this sucks. Part of me is happy because I'm a big Niewiadoma fan, and I'm so happy for her, but at the same time losing like this is just awful. I am glad she is transferring. Although I wish it was Alpecin fenix but FDJ is pretty good too. Anything but SD worx. If Vollering win against SD worx, that would be just icing in the cake,

@bernardpag
@

Really a shame the way the whole team treated her, I don't even see a push from the mechanics after she got back on her bike.

@PuraVida_C_R
@

Have never watched Tour de France or anything bike related. I love competitive sports. Huge f1 fan. I feel there is something here that should tell me what's happening, but I swear to God I've never been as clueless. I even googled "the yellow jersey" but by God am I still completely lost... I can't have peace until I know what this is about, someone please help me out and explain :D:D

@babayega1717
@

Absolutely shocking and shameful!

@camriarnr
@

Probably could have shaved at least 4 seconds with a little help after that crash...

@TheFarmerdavid
@

@ 3:30+ you said that the riders might not have known about the road going left after the roundabout exit, but surely they would have done a recce of the course before the stage started, and even if they did not do it themselves surely someone in their team would have and briefed them on things like this, or is that not allowed or too simple?.

@allandavis8201
@

with teammates like SDantiWorx, who needs enemies?

@nicohakvoort4998
@

Team directors are nowhere to be found. The lack of attacks (or even attempted attacks) the first stages was pathetic. And now this? SD Worx should be disbanded. Good for Kasia to win the Tour but Demi lost by 4 seconds. So she should have won easily if just some teammates stayed behind to help her after the crash

@maumor2
@

If there is a sport more utterly tedious than road cycling, I have yet to find it. Formula 1 comes close.

@MrHistorian123
@

And the consequence by of this was the team lost the Tour. Insane behaviour. Why did they sabotage themselves like that. She was devastated losing the whole tour by four seconds.

@johnmaslen
@

And Vollering lost by the Tour by 4 seconds. Shameful team performance.

@mackas69
@

Weibers riding like a Wiesel...shocking...
fastforward; but it did add to a fantastic drama to end the most memorable tour..Has anyone seen the likes of that gripping finish?..Sorry lads the woman's TDF race '24 has to be the most exciting ever!

@atoms-to-atoms
@

What post race comments did Niewiadoma make that were distasteful? I haven't seen these.

@jbardige
@

Shocking. Women say they are nicer in sport but this indicates otherwise.....its either that or they dont like her.

@Sethi1919
@

And now we know how it ended, Niewiadoma wins the Tour with only 4 seconds. She also won by abandon the yellow jersey. A disgrace for the sport. I've never seen this in men's cycling.
