Humans aren't predisposed to fear snakes. In tests babies were presented with snakes and spiders (spiders in tanks) and the babies were neutral or curious. The fear response to these species is learned

Bro the audio you used in the background is the 'Adhan' (the Islamic call to prayer). It’s actually a beautiful and peaceful invitation to prayer for billions of people, not a horror sound effect. Probably you wouldnt knew that. Using it like this creates a false and creepy vibe. Please consider changing it.🙂

This is a very common misunderstanding due to most people not understanding science terminology, but the "uncanny valley hypothesis" is only a hypothesis, NOT a theory. The "theory of gravity" is a theory. The "theory of evolution" is a theory. A "theory" by definition has a mountain of evidence behind it, to the point where it is virtually irrefutable. I mean who is going to try to deny gravity exists? This video also does an absolutely horrible job at explaining the uncanny valley hypothesis.

In short, the hypothesis is that as artificial humans (robots, CGI characters, dolls, etc.) become more human-like, people tend to feel increasingly comfortable with them — up to a point. But when they become almost human while still having subtle imperfections, people often react with discomfort, eeriness, or even revulsion. That dip in comfort is called the “valley.” Considering it was first proposed by Masahiro Mori back in 1970, psychologists are well aware these days of what causes it. It is NOT the "eerie mystery" this video tries to make it out to be.

Psychologists have pointed out a number of reasons for this discomfort:

Evolved disease-avoidance instincts (“this looks human but unhealthy/dead”) - Pretty clear cut. When something seems "off" about something that looks human, our brains tell us "something is wrong with this, avoid it!" as a natural survival instinct. After all, if whatever is making it "off" is a disease, we certainly don't want to be near them and risk catching it. While our conscious mind knows that's not the case with most of these faces, it's our subconscious that causes the unease, because it is reacting out of primal instincts deeply embedded in us still to this day.

Prediction errors in the brain - The reason most illusions work on us is because our minds expect things to "be" a certain way. For example, there is a checkerboard illusion, where it has what appears to be a shadow on the board, and it asks you which box on the checkerboard is a darker shade of grey - the dark box that is in the light, or the light box that is in the shadow. While our minds tell us that the light box in the shadow is clearly "lighter", it is wrong. Our minds "predict" that since the box is in what appears to be a shadow, its shade is lighter than it appears (since the shadow darkens the shade). However, if you use Photoshop or other image-editing software and compare the two directly, you see they are both the exact same shade of grey! Our minds "predict" certain outcomes based on things like shadows, and so this illusion works on everyone unfamiliar with the illusion. Even AFTER you're familiar with it, your mind STILL has a hard time reconciling it. So, with these "almost human" faces, our minds "predict" them to be a certain way, but they aren't exactly what we predict them to be. And this inconsistency in our mind is hard for our subconscious to reconcile, so it simply tells us "something is wrong here, because this isn't what we expected it to be."

There are a couple other reasons tied into these as well, but these are the two primary driving forces that makes our minds uneasy. It's interesting how the subconscious works imo. Evolution is such an extremely slow process, and humans oftentimes take that for granted. They fail to realize how primitive our minds still are. Sure, consciously we can "pretend" we're "sophisticated" or whatever else you want to call it. But, our minds still have the same survival instincts, same subconscious responses they had millions of years ago.

Nothing sells like fear.
