Ok the clanker war is around the corner and by 2029 and we have to send a love warrior back in time

— @calvinprime

Storyline: A seemingly indestructible robot is sent from 2029 to 1984 to assassinate a young waitress, whose unborn son will lead humanity in a war against sentient machines, while a human soldier from the same war is sent to protect her at all costs.

Director: James Cameron

Underneath its a hyper-alloy combat chassis. Microprocessor-controlled. Fully armored. Very tough. The 600 series had rubber skin, we spotted them easy. But these are new. They look human. Sweat, bad breath...everything. Very hard to spot.

— @bluesuncompanyman

Writers: James Cameron, Gale Anne Hurd, William Wisher

I saw this for the first time on VHS, I was 18 in the 1985. It's still just as good now as it was then.

Kyle Reese is the greatest hero in all of moviedom. He risked it all getting in a time machine not knowing if it would even work, He travelled back in time, He showed up naked with no help, being persued by the cops almost immediately. He has one standing order, at all cost, protect sarah conner., (who he is also secretly in love with , he also has to win her over, fall in love. lose his virginity too and impregnate her in one night btw) Failure is not an option he HAS TO WIN. Talk about pressure. Can we name another individual hero in fiction who's had those kinda odds?

I mean when you think about it put a highly advanced ai in charge around the early 2000s and have it nuke all of humanity giving it nothing to challenge it. All of the remaining resources and time go into making the most advanced robotics and tech imaginable…. Not fun.

Welp. It was a short run, but humans did some pretty spectacular things while we were top dog. Including literally building the thing that will kill us all.

To the point where fkn Palantir, owned by a megalomaniac supervillain, is running defense network software.

So long, brothers and sisters.

I still think it’s crazy that after everything she saw she still didn’t believe him until he murked an entire police department

Michael Biehn really selling this puply sci-fi dialogue that could easily be delivered and sound cheesy and silly. Total respect for making it believable and pulling the audience in with him.

One of the great things about the writing of this scene overall from when they escape the club to this moment is Reese never really spends energy validating Sarah's emotions. Not because that's not justified in the long-term but because in this immediate moment of extreme crisis and having this insanely dangerous thing right on their tail pure info dump about the situation and danger is what is necessary to maximize her chances for survival to even get to the point of validating her emotional response later. And that's exactly how a soldier from a dystopian hellscape future would default to thinking and acting when attempting to protect his charge.

the scene with Arnie with his eye brows shaved scanning the streets is a nice cut right after Reece's explanation. Really drives the point home.

Michael Biehn is one of the best actors, if not the best in the last 40 years. Forget Leo. The guy might have won an Oscar, but he couldnt even have pulled this off in his youth. Biehn was also an extremely handsome man back then. And Im not gay. I just wish I looked like him.

Killed off by their own creations?
