The Strange Psychology of Russell Williams
Video Overview & Insights
An in depth look at one of Canada’s worst criminals in recent history, (former) Col. Russell Williams
Sorry for the even longer than usual down time. Had to put another project on the shelf several weeks into working on it due to some exclusive footage taking a long time to come in. Still working on it, in fact! Hope you enjoy this take on an “old classic.” Will try to pick something that won’t lead to more production hurdles for the next one :)

Its amazing to me that he can look at the cop right in the eye with no shame. Guess its a sign of his depravity!

This dude is a basket case sexual weirdo.
@Johnny53kgb-nsaTLDR; yes, of course police and military are full of psychopaths
@103617So how exactly did his wife overlook the massive knicker collection in their home?
@chrish1657Guy wore women's underwear.
@bluebird-v4wI'm not a Dr, but the way he listed off what he did so matter of factly showed that he had no empathy for his victims. The way he casually said "I raped her" was shocking.
Also, saying that she seemed like a nice girl. Total disconnect, which shows to me they were just an object to him and who they were was separate from this "issue". I also
think his apology wasn't sincere. I think he's strategic, which is why he was successful in his career. (Not so strategic in pulling off murders, however). I feel like the apology
was his effort at wrapping up his mess in the best manner, because it's all he had. Why not make it positive and try to make himself appear human?
Can anyone speak to the psychology around why he wore the lingere? What do think he was thinking when he took those pictures of himself? Why would he do that?
@kbw6917DNA would tie Cnl Williams so completely to the crimes… but this was the cusp between non-DNA & 100% focus on it to nail these dudes to the wall… Williams & boys after literally can’t exchange body fluids & only crazy people have hope of escaping criminal acts.
@cassandrafarmer-c9iThe video contained several inaccuracies, which is concerning. We recommend conducting thorough research prior to publication. The quality of the work was subpar.
@leannazanewichto think many of this murderers being questioned in such videos have watched " criminal behaviour Analysis " videos on tv or internet , many times in life .
@rahhannan9171I feel the true HERO is the guy who made the decision to set-up tire reading checks on the Hwy alongside Lloyd's residence. That day, Williams drove his Pathfinder (instead of his usual BMW) a move I am sure he regrets, for that's the day he was BUSTED. (Then to agree to attend a Police interview...at kick-off on Super Bowl Sunday no less, wearing the exact same boots and rolling into the cop shop on the exact same tires)........He must've known he was toast. Seriously....after receiving a call from Sgt Smith asking to come in, he should've reached for his 9mm ..... and served his country ....properly. He's an idiot. The cops didn't even NEED to be smart. Ironic....had he drove his BMW that day, as he did every day, he'd probably still be free today.
@Mike-i6rAnyone disappointed that he got caught so soon? Not that I want more real people to be his victims. But part of me wants to see how far he would’ve gone.
@TheRiverMan5198'Got a map'
@Soffityfush and chups,
...
I don't consider myself a superficial person, and yet, when I watch the video of this interview, all I can think of is, HAIRLINE! HAIRLINE! SOMEONE DO SOMETHING!
@dirkbastardreliefWhy do some men do these evil things to women? Chemistry in the brain? Childhood warped? What? Is there a gene in the DNA that can be identified and corrected?
It’s not new in society. It’s been going on for eons. Imagine how much this happened in history before modern policing?
The evil men do.
@Seaserpent-m8n50:25 it's like when he realizes he has been caught dead to rights by Detective Smith there's a sense of respect and almost admiration for him now.
@spiders.making.biscuitsI'm not using this word correctly but I'm gonna use it anyway 😅 at 42:52 you can see in 'real' time how he is absolutely flabbergasted by the boot impression evidence. He's SO focused and eager to figure out how they figured out it was him. This is glorious to me.
@spiders.making.biscuitsbeing given surprise coffee and then being blindsided with the revelation that it's got sugar and no cream is the ultimate nightmare. that's punishment enough
@zubetpthis interrogation is insightful it allows us witness and observe someone who is guilty of two murders, without question ,attempt to deny and obfuscate ...he's knows he is caught ...we know he is caught
@edwardmendoza7872The funky bush on his forehead 😝
@the-handmade-channel12:56
If this was an American case they wouldn't of bothered taking the tracks
Minimize the impact on my wife....what a sick monster he is. Uh Mrs. Williams for years your hubby has been wearing panties that belonged to his sadistic sex torture and murder victims. Something you would have figured out if you just looked in any of the boxes of his souvenirs. You can spend the rest of your life dwelling on those things.
@garymacmillanI wonder if he was using alcohol or some other kind of drugs during these acts. I also find it weird when he says 51:27 "Its hard to believe this is happening", yet hiding behind a women's furnace in her basement for hours waiting for her to come home is easy for him to believe.
@babbalonian27:23 One of my favorite scripts of yours; specifically this part 🤣
@lexwatkins1104good video
@hjerneStimulanzIt's really fun to see people like you trying to make sense of things like that.
You use a narration/fiction tropes key book to try to understand real life and fail miserably.
You struggle to understand that your little world of storytelling isn't fit to encompass the broad scope of real life situations.
And you try, and you try, using very petty techniques to manage to push a square into a round hole and call it a win, until you fall on something like this that brings you the real deal exposed.
No Manichaeism, no black and white, no monsters vs humans... It shows you that every people you try to push into the "monster" case are, in fact, indisputably humans, and your own words are trying to paint everyone into what they are not.
Human is violent. Human is destructive, Human is in need for power and control. Education, social biais and social conventions try to mitigate that but it doesn't always works and when it doesn't, it's judged as if it was monster's work and evil at work.
It is not. Human nature is gray, with all those darker gray things and all the light gray things. You don't need to be a psychopath to be a killer... In fact, most of them are not.
All you need is to be human.
It means that yes, humans protect and care about those who are under their power. Humans try to avoid too much suffering when they can. Humans can change their opinions, their way of life without trope-like traumatism. That works only in movies.
They just get bored, feel enslaved or/and feel trapped and sometimes they just want a way out.
They may regret and still do what they do. They may care and still hurt...
I mean... In a world where domestic violence is clear and visible, in a world where it's mechanisms are well known, in a world where people get loved, where people love and get brutalized and brutalize... In a world where psychology is a real science that needs real scientifics, in a world where real psychologists and psychiatrists and most practitioner and researchers in human sciences are clear on all that...
How the hell can you still be at this specific place where you don't understand what's happening?
Except because... Well you don't know what you are talking about, you don't care what you are talking about enough to learn what should be learned to know what you are talking about...
Your work is entertaining. And with the mouth you have, and with the mind you have, and with the deductive capabilities you have, with the empathy you have, you could be the best in this kind of work, at the top of this kind of YouTube genre and... Well way more than that... You could be that cop.
But you decided to be sloppy, to use fake communication techniques and to stimulate idiots with your stick.
Man, this guy will spend his life alone with his regrets... But I would rather be him than you.
You are clearly forgetting what you wanted to do with your life when you were a child and what it meant to you to have ambition, to be pertinent, to understand and to satisfy your curiosity.
A sad story, really.
I hope you'll get better.
One small correction- the interview took place in the Headquarters of the Ottawa Police Department , not the O.P.P.
@surefire8568So do you have to be an evil monster to get into a position of power? Or is it like a "rite of passage" that you have to become a fucking monster after getting into a position of power?
@Julian_the_Innovatorfor the people making fun of the hair, remember that russel williams will definitely never be hurt by it but your friends might
@adog3129i previously saw this guy on jcs, and its insane how much better u tell the story, i feel like i hadnt really heard it before
@adog3129Got a map?
@ToecuttrI'm so pissed they got such a prolific guy. Never become cocky I guess
@none11flop9Genuinely flabbergastung how they always WILLINGLY talk for hours, offer DNA, when they know theyre guilty and there's literally no outcome that's positive here haha. He could have pulled rank and just refused to talk. They'd only have the tire tracks, no confession, no show prints, he'd still be a suspect but it wouldn't be 100% sure thing. Idk if it's arrogance or they believe theyd look suspicious if they refuse even though agreeing is a far worse outcome haha.. Yet every time they do this, even if they aren't morons. The search warrant already had him I guess, but it's still bizarre
@KaladinVegapunkAn American Colonel would've changed his tires & discarded his boots
@themourning1783So he's connected from birth. It never ends
@jeffmeredith2100"It's hard to believe this is happening" He really believed he was never going to get caught!
@naomi.7777That forehead moustache is weirdly irritating.
@juliaatkinson401258:54 wow I mean you know the grape occurred but just the nonchalant manner of how he just puts it in the middle of a paragraph of an explanation feels so odd and creepy.
@BamKam-133This is such a crazy case. I mean this is not a stupid man but to attack someone who live 3 doors down from you is so insane. The only thing I can think of is maybe the proximity is what excited him about it. But unbelievably stupid none the less
@BamKam-133Williams has paraphilic disorder—a condition where a fetishes become harmful either to the person experiencing them or those around them. They normally begin in teens or early 20s as Williams has said his did, but unlike most with the disorder, he managed, through willpower to keep them under control until his early 40s when he took charge at the AF base and the break-ins began. Even o he managed to compartmentalize them. There is also the possibility that the steroids he was given for arthritis contributed to the escalation of his behavior. People with this disorder can be treated with cognitive therapy and drugs. Perhaps, if he had sought treatment he could have remained under control, but most likely he did not do so because he was worried that word would get to his commanding officers. Because he understood all of this, I believe that his confession was based on a careful assessment of the evidence and that he would have confessed at whatever point it became clear to him that the police had a strong case.
@paperchaser29That STUPID patch of hair on his 12head.
@Zachary3Dlol @ the end. if you dont think he has netflix, video games, his own tv, correspondance with thousands of groupies, tablet, internet in his cell you are out of your mind. this is the west and it's 2026
@manchesterisblue1023not hard when you have all the evidence they had of him...
@manchesterisblue1023I think the police in his house is way less of an impact on his wife than what horrors he got up to.
@IhaveMy0pinionDet. Smith is just amazing.
@andreaknibbs9328I wonder who got demoted in rank for granting a serial killing crossdresser Top Secret clearance. Some moose chasing halfwit gave this perv command over CFB Trenton and had him flying the queen around. What's that all aboot? Not that America is any better. Somebody gave killer clown John Wayne Gacy clearance and had him schmoozing with Rosalyn Carter and god knows how many local politicians
@DonFisher-co7do
