The Shoe That Broke Running
Video Overview & Insights
When is sports gear so good it’s actually cheating?

There is a ton of cool sports gear that’s banned from sports for making athletes too good. Swimsuits that make a swimmer too streamlined, gloves that make a receiver’s hands too grippy, bats that let a player hit the ball too hard, and shoes that help a runner go too freaking fast…
It kinda not fair to not let him race anymore he needs to wear those and what can he do wear shorter ones no because if the doctors gave him that height of running blades then that is what he stays with and he’s probably not taller than he should be because you used different people that is just not fair for him
They call it “TECH DOPING,” using physical gear to gain an unfair advantage. In this video, I’ll show you the banned gear you won’t see at the Paris Olympics, and the cutting edge tech you will see that’s on the very limit of what’s allowed.
You might be thinking, hold on, no gear should give athletes an advantage! But… we don’t run barefoot anymore. We don’t swim naked. We use tech to play sports. And that tech is always improving, pushing forward what humans can do.
What a useless video and its got 9.8 million views algorithm is crazy stupid design. 😒😒😒
So… where’s the line?
This is about way more than sports. In every part of our lives, technology pushes forward what we can do! And it’s up to us to decide what we want from it. This video is about that question.
BS the LZR Razor used human gut propulsion to speed past opponents. I mean its obvious from the bubbles that was seething from the rear of the suit.
We talked to athletes, looked at the world’s best gear, and even went all the way to Nike’s test lab to try on the real Team USA Olympic uniforms. This is the cutting edge of sports tech, explained.

So regarding the debate if runners should be allowed with prototype shoes at competitions: I d say no. Let s compare running with f1, a sport where innovation is what brings you trophies. The championship is divided in 2: the driver s championship and the constructor s championship. Basically the constructor s are rewarded as well for the fastest car so they have to innovate in order to stay ahead. The running competitions do not have a constructor s championship. Is just the athlete s one. So I believe in order to keep the competition as fair as possible for all of them, is not right to give an athlete an advantage over the others with something like a prototype shoe. Officially, there s nothing in for a company so why would they favour someone over the other. Ofc I know there s a lot of marketing benefits if your shoe wins the competition, but having it anvailable for all competitors doesn t stop you from innovating in any way, I d sat it can only benefit you

Welcome to the joke down low:
¡Sentí como si me acuchillaban cuando cortaron por la mitad esa zapatilla! 😅
Which sport is always in trouble?
Badminton.
Los googles los puede comprar cualquiera, yo mismo tengo un montón en un cajón; pero ese traje tan avanzado que cuesta más que mi apartamento,, no es accesible para todos.
Find a way to use “trouble” in a comment to let me know you’re a real one who made it to the end of the description :)
I feel it should be legal but everyone should be able to have/ afford the same tech.
More User Perspectives
the blades should be allowed
@markduckenfield2488Great work, Cleo - really enjoyed that 👍.
@BionickDJWatching this after a Kenyan broke the 2 hour marathon time .
@PaulMwebiaIf you want to call yourself a pro
Or athlete
You should not be allowed to use tech
Wai, during the intro logo, Why do I hear the Star Road music from super mario world? LOL! I mean its so subtle it's awesome!
@eljefe7070ytI mean the last is a real concern IMO, what it running with blades will be faster than running normally? Will athletes start to chop of their legs so they can compete?
@valfalos997Personally, I think they should allow almost any tech that isn't dangerous and doesn't artificially power athletes. Carbon fiber shoes and super suits are just part of a general evolution in human evolution and I think it's okay if records end up having to be evaluated in the context of their time
@englishmuffinpizzasWatching this at 3 am, love your videos, such an amazing question too
@IMWATCHINYOU-d2gWait a second...so would they allow it in smaller leagues? Like, per say....high school swimming or running?
@IMWATCHINYOU-d2gTakeout all gears,... best will be natural body under test in competitions.
Let science experiment & release best shoes for general population.
This is why I say that Bob Hayes is still the fastest man ever.
@CeltokeeThe very first thing I check on a running shoe is the sole. How will it absorb shock? Most will fail horribly. When I was young the test was simple, jump from let's say 8' and see what your body tells you. I don't recommend doing this now. Plastic isn't great at absorbing shock. I had many running shoes/ sneakers. There was only one that measured up,walking, running, jumping or even walking on slanted roofs. That was an Adidas TRX. The sole was still rubber, yes black. The shock was absorbed by the 30 or so protruding rubber parts about a .5 cm diameter. I don't see that type of design anywhere. And most are plastic anyway.
@true3dCleo thank you for your videos. I really enjoy wathing them.
@borisvisnovskyto make it fair, the rule should be - all altheles wearing same gear&attire provided by Olympic committee
@hellocathhWas that point of technology cuz somewhere down the line technology betrayed us
@brianalfaro6029The tech in Sanctioned sports should only be allowed for their protection and nothing else. Athletes should compete with the minimum essential safety equipment allowed.
@ManosD33GRWould love to see you follow this with the Adidas Adizero Adios Pro Evo 3?? Perhaps it's part of a bigger conversation around tech, science, and pseudoscience in sports. E.g. the Enhanced Games.
@ssent1Your channel is so amazing!
@toddryanfitch3504make everyone run in ski boots
@steveboris6286all race in same shoe ,,,,
@AmatuerShockSo, did Phelps have his records stripped, or did he get to keep them, knowing no one else will get a fair chance to beat them now that the swim suit has been banned?
@lance6163I've just discovered this channel. Amazing stuff going on here...WOW!
@Snowzepheste doblaje a español es mejor, úsenlo siempre y no ese otro nuevo que suena horrible y no transmite la parte emocional de Cleo.
