In my head canon when they all die and go to the spirit world, all the gold that was thrown in the pit they recieve in that world, Miguel, Tulio and Chel see each other and the gold and Miguel is happy to see his friend again hugs him and Tulio is also happy, hugs Miguel back, then looks at the gold and says “we should’ve dumped more gold” they all smirk and laugh it off enjoying there new after life together united as friends

When I first saw this scene as a kid, I didn’t like it. I’m glad that while Tulio and Miguel may be con men, they have morals, sacrificing an innocent man doesn’t sit right with them.

After reading more about Mayan mythology I started thinking that the gods the people of El Dorado keep referring Miguel and Tullio were the twins Hunahpu and Ixbalanque

@Tzekel-KanI love that they used real native culture instead of making stuff up for the sake of the movie. Xibalba was the realm of the dead in real Mayan culture. And later in the film, they play the mesoamerican ball game, which is an aztec tradition. Its very cool how they combined certain aspects

I like how Miguel was the first to suggest they stop the sacrifice and the way he caught the guy before he fell, even though Tulio is not a bad person, Miguel is the most compassionate of the two
