The Pros and Cons of Living in Portugal

Video Overview & Insights

What are the pros and cons of living in Portugal? Hey everyone! Welcome to my channel. Today I'm going to talk about the pros and cons of living in Portugal, a beautiful country located on the Western side of Europe. We'll explore some of its perks, as well as any potential drawbacks that come with it – all so you can make an informed decision if this could be your next home. So, let's dive right in and take a closer look at what life in Portugal has to offer!

People there are so unfriendly

— @janemariefuentes2988

Pros of living in Portugal

1. Good weather

YOU TRAITORS ARE NOT IYP. YOU HAVE BETRAYED IYP, D.R.Y, & IYP DIVINE BLUEPRINTS / GREAT IYP OF D.R.Y REMAIN FAITHFUL, FIRM, AND FOCUS. CONTINUE TO BE DEDICATED! ALMIGHTY GOD IS ON OUR SIDE FOREVER!

— @ayopeter5533

Land of sun, sand and sea! It's no wonder that so many people love to live here—not only is it a beautiful country with plenty of culture and history to explore, but the weather is also unbeatable! In fact, it is one of the reasons why many people from around the world have started moving to Portugal.

If you're looking for an idyllic spot where you can bask in some sunshine throughout the year, then look no further than this southern European nation. From mild winters to hot summers, Portugal offers its residents diverse climatic conditions that make living here just perfect.

I'm sorry but what exactly wwre the Cons 😅

— @fraser808

The average annual temperature in the inland North and Centre is between 6°C and 9°C, while it is higher, exceeding 17°C, in the eastern Algarve and the Guadiana valley.

2. Affordable transportation

is there country side living in portugal? i want to live in the sticks but with warm weather all year round. Wishful thinking?

— @rarinolesein

Whether you're looking for a quick ride or a longer journey, travelling around Portugal doesn't have to break the bank. For instance, you can take an iconic yellow tram (or eléctrico) up and down Lisbon’s hillside at a fraction of what it would cost in any other major city.

Plus – they even come with their own unique charm! And don't forget about buses - they are both economical and efficient; you'll never be left stranded without transport again.

Too much crime, corruption, theft, fraud, scams, and deceit pervade many sectors. A false appearance of normalcy conceals a reality of decay and ruin. The Portuguese seem to have discovered gaslighting, and they wield this manipulative tactic far too often.

— @Filius_Solis_777

A bus ride would cost you around $1.6 while the metro and trains would cost you $4.3. If you are a travel person, then moving to Portugal would make sense for you.

3. Tax exemptions

What about sex

— @ErjadGashi

Living in Portugal can be a real joy and one of the biggest benefits is that you don't have to worry about paying hefty taxes. They are taxed on their worldwide income at progressive rates ranging from 14.5% to 20%.

Taxes are one of those things that just seem to suck the life out of you and your pocketbook. But in Portugal, you can enjoy some respite from these unpleasant financial burdens. Tax exemptions allow residents save money while at the same time enjoying all the wonderful offerings this beautiful country has to offer.

Portugal is very special.

— @ShirleyPotts-ud3nb

4. Good wine

When it comes to wine, Portugal offers up something special. With some of the oldest vineyards in the world, traditional methods are still used to create these classic drinks – ensuring that each bottle has an individual character that can be enjoyed by all. And with such diversity available, it means no matter what type of wine you enjoy there will always be something on offer! If you are into wines, then moving to Portugal would feel like a heaven for you.

My friend grew this place and ,I want to learn all about it. His name is Karl Mike Macado

— @ErinBottorff

But why else should you consider making Portugal your base? Well because good quality Portuguese wines are surprisingly affordable; meaning everyone can experience these unique flavours without breaking the bank.

Finally, if it’s romanced your after then you won’t find anywhere better: few things beat quaffing a glass or two on one of Lisbon's warm summer nights while watching beautiful sunsets over stunning architectural landmarks - simply magical!

Taxes have changed drastically, make sure to research more recent changes!

— @PTBound

5. Great banking system

One of the great things about Portuguese banks is that they offer a wide range of services and features at competitive rates. For example, if you need to send money abroad for business purposes, banks can usually provide you with low fees and fast transfers through their international payment services.

Do not come

— @zecozeco2361

They also provide customers with more sophisticated financial products such as wealth management offerings, insurance coverages and credit cards – all backed by reliable customer service teams who are always willing to take care of any query promptly.

eu sou Portuguese, born in the northern minho, Viana Do Castello. Now, living in Canada, I go back every summer to visit family and friends. Portugal, has great beaches, fantastic sunrises and sunsets, great port wine, great lager beer Super Bock or Sagres, great food, one of the Cheapeast country in Europe, and be respectful to the elderly. say Bon Dia and Obrigado. enjoy our festivals all over portugal during the summer months, check out our FADOS. Lots of history and relic Churches. Food is cheap, gas and petrol is more pricey, and never say GAS, say PETROL, the north is green the south is desert and tropical. we dine between 8:30 amd 10 PM. Cheers! from Viana Do Castello.

I have visited portugal a lot. Mostly found people are nice but I had one experience which I can't seem to forget. I was at the checkout at Continente supermarket. The lady serving me humiliated me in front of others. She asked to see in my handbag and proceeded to search through my bag, she glared at me with disgust throughout. Not sure what I did wrong other than the fact I am asian. She was totally prejudiced. I can't forget how she made me feel that day.

Somethings on the list of this video are wrong, the tax part if you don’t have a good accountant ur get fined, the banks are slow very bad customer service and health care is expensive, the work life there is very hard for little pay and no jobs with over half the people go elsewhere Because of the corrupt government, most Portuguese depending the area the people are noisy rude and racist, best parts for me is Portugal food, drink, views, history and night life best in the world

I can testify to that most Portuguese people are not open to change and is country full of deep seated dark secrets. I was born there and left when I was 22 years old in 1981, and I have no desire to go back. I have been living in Scottsdale, Arizona, for about 40 years and love it here.

The history of traditional trades, merchants of trades. That's all I think that I need to say about the truth about it all.

@anaibarangan4908

Maybe because has a low population, around 10 M, but Portugal must be lacking the amounts of inner motivated merchant class, families and types of people, like exists in Spain. Just working from home types from elsewhere off of the Iberian Peninsula, just digital nomads, isn't working , isn't what it takes. Spaniards aren't much laid back, it's just a different type of character, that strict work ethics time, and the time for fun and rest, is well thought out.
