IRS: It says you've been getting money for nothing, and your checks for free.
ME: Am I in trouble?
IRS: You're in dire straits.
Bands/artists such as Metallica, Rush, Radiohead, The Beach Boys, Donald Fagen, Pink Floyd, Icehouse, The The, Chris De Burgh, Steely Dan, Peter Gabriel, Chick Corea, Alan Parsons Project, Paul Simon, Frankie Goes To Hollywood, Joni Mitchell, Supertramp, Dire Straits, Toto, Talk Talk, Jennifer Warnes, Steven Wilson, and more are discussed.
Here is a link to the Headphonesty article for further information.
Muito interessante ter um disco do Chick corea nessa lista, é um artista bem diferenciado mesmo, porque é capaz de transitar no jazz, na música clássica e até no pop e isso é muito raro. Esse é justamente um dos discos dele que tenho em vinil.

A very enjoyable and informative video.
@shaungeorge8813This is all well and good, but you forget that the world wide web is just that!
WORLD WIDE.
Your choices are sooo blinkered, and that well is just far too large to be able to pick from.
All the same, some nice choices.
OMG! Just goes how to show that Fagen and Becker were such perfectionists, with 3 of the top 4. IMHO they can’t be split but if I have to - Gaucho 1, Nightfly 2, Aja 3. Great list though. Cheers!
ps. Icehouse - good Aussie band. 🇦🇺
The 2003 remaster of Dark Side of The Moon is pretty top tier. Also can't go wrong with the RL hot mix of Led Zeppelin II if you can afford it and find a close-to-mint copy.
@Narrative-IdentityIf you want an immersive sound try Roger Waters Amused to Death Album which was recorded in a rarely used recording technique called QSound. This creates a surround sound depth from a stereo source. Jeff Beck plays some of his best guitar work in my opinion
@stratnut7146Make one hour video... Actually two hours video 😢
@starmanstarman576I actually was a sound assistant on the Black Album. And it was six months of work. And even helped with the tour that followed. And then they decided the didn't want all those who were involved to get credits. Check it out compared to And Justice For All, and you will see. It was a huge disappointment.
@Jhon-RocksAbba arrival should be on that list.
@legomandk9964EVER !!!!!!
@MartinLloyd-w1uDire Straits have a lot of good music, but I would VERY highly recommend going through the solo albums of Mark Knopfler. They contain a lot of excellent music and are very well recorded (One Deep River, Sailing to Philadelphia, Shangri-La, Tracker are ones I would start with).
@TheAstronomer-e2eI've been listening to vinyl since 1965 and CD's since they first came out and I am very much enjoying buying used CD's at this point for $2.99 and $3.99 while streaming has taken over.
I sold off my vinyl about ten years ago, 2200 albums. I'm happy to see young people chasing vinyl and spending lots of money getting special versions. That seems to help keep used standard CD's (without chasing special versions) priced so low I feel like I'm stealing. Keep it up all you audiophiles!
I miss the first Tracy Chapman record.
@InAGaddaDaVida7As soon as you say Rush or Toto… you lose me.
@chrissamsell8382looked at Amazon Brothers In Arms (40th Anniversary / 3CD . it is stated that it is a German edition and when I read the reviews it seems that the first disc is the album itself and the other two cds are a live recording . someone thought it was too little treble and bass I myself have not heard this edition
@AndersljungbergNo from the 90s ?
@AndersljungbergIn Sweden and apparently also in the UK, the MTV channels that showed music have been shut down. stopped broadcasting. But you can still watch music videos and other music performances on Youtube. Tidal should have it too. I don't have the service myself but I've read that they should have music videos.
@AndersljungbergIf I remember correctly from when I was much younger, they could have the Brother Arms CD on a regular record player outside the store
@AndersljungbergThere should be a newer release of Brother of Arms where Mark Knopfler is involved. That is, after 1985.
@AndersljungbergIt has been said that the CD album Brothern Arms sold more copies than there were CD players.
@AndersljungbergBrothers in Arms . 1985 CD we can perhaps think of it as It was used to demonstrate the CD player There was quite good dynamics on that album . But unlike a CDs today the recording volume was actually lower . Gemini says that a CD player in 1985 could cost $300 and $600
@AndersljungbergPG’s So, yup, it had to be there somewhere on a list towards the top…the absence of The Thriller kinda surprised me, might had been a slight genre bias…
@eldar68Good review Melinda, I,m slightly surised you didn't mention the Alan Parsons - Pink Floyd connection. Alan Parsons was the Crucial staff engineer at EMI Studios (Abbey Road) for Pink Floyd's Dark side of the Moon. Good choices though all round. TURN OF A FRIENDLY CARD is my favourite Alan Parsons album especially the origional Vinyl which I have as well as the origional cd and remastered cd. Oh and I also have the origional vinyl of Dark side of the moon pressing 94. Thank you, Tony in UK
@anthonycoffey8753Great video. Enjoy your enthusiasm for such great music.
@eugenesteenhuisen4065Icehouse ***** Wowwww, Terrific band ,
@StoneFenderHow could Fleetwood Mac rumors not be in the top 25
@David-q4f6qNot Beach Boys but Brian Wilson's Smile 2004 a better than any Beach Boys album. Brian Wilson gives Pet Sounds a 4/10 and Smile is a 10/10.
@tubefreeeasyNot a Beatles album on this list? 😂
@dallasbrubaker6054I guess since every remaster and rerlease production was allowed on to this list, I can somewhat understand how Boston's self titled debute can be left off, but for original release production..... even still, I think it is a top 25 omission.
@clydezoph2835Audiophile record?
1. Patricia Barber: Café blue, Modern cool, Clique!
2. Pink Floyd: The dark side...
3. Shelby Lynne: Just a little lovin'
4. Dominique Fils-Aimé: Nameless
5. Diana Krall: Turn up the quiet
This is a fantastic list but there are two that I think should have made it that didn't. 1) Boston's debut album and 2) Pink Floyd's Animals. For many many years, a rock enthusiast's audio equipment audition included a sampling of Boston's "Foreplay/Long Time", "Smokin'", or "Hitch a Ride" right alongside those Steely Dan selections. As for Animals... it is a criminally underrated PF album and the production is sheer perfection. The recommended pressings are UK Harvest... original or reissues. The James Guthrie stereo and 5.1 remixes are also excellent.
@coaxguy99Melinda would you please give Boney M Ten Thousand Lightyears a go. This Album is so overlooked for its musicality. I only have about 50 records in my collection. I have listened to thousands of records but I can only get involved with a very small number of Records that I love. I play this album constantly because of its superb sound quality and the songs are just beautiful.
@Justin-fy7xkI like the sound of Minnie Riperton's Adventures in Paradise and Perfect Angel of a lot.
The Album I Like It Like Dat! from Della Reese is special.
I agree with you on original Rush vinyl. I have a couple, and for instance, at least on my turntable setup the Moving Pictures vinyl from the 1980s sounds distinctly better than any of my digital versions. (and I am definitely not one of those who think vinyl always sounds better)
@trondsiI’m both shocked and elated to see Parsons make this list. The music from that group is just incredible.
@ewplayer3Great information Belinda thanks for share it and congratulations you have an excellent music collection. I don’t know more girls with this hobbies. Regards
@victormanuelgarciarivera6506One of my favorites for hifi listening is CSN's named album...best track: Long Time Gone.
@mattreed9060is #8 Stacey Q : Hard Machine album and song - The River ?
@laptopdragonimo THE THE's: Infected (1986) is hands down the best albume and impactful songs and their heartbeat....so far ahead of their own time.
When that was released, a random girl gave me her copy (in highschool) to listen to, so we could play a few songs in the band I was in...
that album was too deep for my 14yo mind... even today, it's heavy.
You forgot just a couple Toto & Santana
@LanceGreidet-bi9zkI never appreciated it as a kid, but I just recently got Siamese Dream on wax, I can’t stop.
@josephreynolds1220pls do more of this.
@sivasankar3349Love this collection. 👍🏆 I have always had a problem with Radiohead, they are amazing musicians but I cannot listen to Tom Yorkes voice. Sounds like I am at a funeral. Good choices tho. Thanks 🙏
@Senna-xi1grBlood Sugar Sex Magic sounds amazing.
@tillwesenberg1178Talk talk any the last 3 albums, the most accessible is the colour of spring
The blue nile - a walk across the rooftops or hats
Any David Sylvian album
#1: Court and Spark.
@lapeercharlie8691Live music is best
