SAT Prep Revolutionizer
- Identify Independent Clauses Fast: Find the subject and its main verb. Ignore verbs inside "-ing" phrases, "to" infinitives, and extra information/noun clauses.
- Colon: Correct only if a complete independent clause comes before it.
In the "Identifying independent clause" section,
it was written that there must be no dependent clause starter . But , in the three examples , example number one and three were looking like they are incomplete without any other word or sentence before them and they were sounding like they are dependent on any other sentence...
Please clear my doubt ...
- Period, Semicolon, Comma + FANBOYS: Correct only if a complete independent clause comes both before and after. Semicolons can also separate items in a semicolon list.
- Isolated Comma (comma without a fanboys after it): Correct only when attaching non-essential information to the sentence. You can remove this information and the sentence still makes sense.
Too helpful!
- Dash: Correct when used in a pair to set off non-essential information, or alone to function like a colon.
- Check answer choices in this order of likelihood: Colon first, then Period/Semicolon/comma+,FANBOYS, then isolated comma, then no punctuation.
After watching this video I did a lot of practice questions and got so many correct! One of the best SAT videos out there
- Know these shortcuts: Never add punctuation between a title and a name (e.g., "architect Jane Doe"), Dashes, Question mark questions
- The Exact Process: 1) Look at answer choices FIRST. 2) Know what you're looking for before reading the passage. 3) Use "comma jumping" to skip non-essential info. 4) Always verify the sentence's punctuation structure before answering.
For the CPIN priority list, where should dashes be? Before the isolated comma?

If this is your first view—hi, I’m James 👋 I've personally scored a 1570 on the Digital SAT (770 English, 800 Math) and have spent thousands of hours split-testing strategies, analyzing data, and building a system that helps students reliably break into the 1500+ range. Today there are a lot of SAT tutors online, but I’ve noticed none of the strategies they share even compare to the ones I've discovered in terms of effectiveness. So this channel is my way of transforming the SAT industry.
Around the 1:10:28 mark, you're saying that the "Transition words describe the relationship between 2 sentences next to each other and it’s always the sentence that the transition word is a part of and the sentence before that" rule helps you find which two sentences are being contrased, so after we find that out, we should use the sentence structure of those sentence to find which punctuation fits best, right? LIke after you find the 2 sentences that contrast each other, look if it's an Independent clause, etc., right?
Hopefully I can help you improve your SAT score, and in doing so, open doors that shape the rest of your life 🙏

if A (the first scentence) contradicts with B then u put
A. B however; C
