I'm Greek. I quite often see videos of Mako sharks by local fishermen and sailing enthusiasts. Mako sharks are usually encountered in the open sea.

I'm not sure how to contact but just wanted to let you know that recently in Lebanon, there's been a spate of shark sightings, normally Lebanon get spinner sharks in their waters but in the last 2 weeks, there's been sightings of white tip reef sharks, dusky whalers and most recently Mako Sharks, now Lebanese people have total disregard for the environment and their beaches are dirty however there's been sightings at their ports, Mako Sharks sighted near the popular tourist beach in Beirut and a spear fisherman had an encounter with a White tip reef shark

@Yep-h9gWhen I was 12 or 13, we were taking a holiday in Italy at Cattolica. While there we did a boat trip, part of that was 2 divers going over the side and catching octopus. This was duly cooked and served up. The boat was glass bottomed, so we could see what was going on. When the divers got out, there was some excited chatter going on. A couple of minutes later we found out why, they had spotted a shark.
Now, we didn't get a good look through the distortion through the water, but it was either a white or mako, probably 10-12 feet in length. It broke surface once for maybe 15 seconds, just a fin cutting the surface.
Thats 52 years ago, but its what first caught my interest in sharks.
It kinda freaks me out a little that âtheyâ can detect my presence from my đŠ-Sammy the đŚ

A 6 meter long Mako shark, weighing more tha a ton seems to me to be considerably more intimidating than the largest great white sharks.... because of it's speed and aggressiveness!

I was on a vacation in the Turkish Med, out free swimming when a huge upwelling of cold water hit me. Never saw the shark, but I realized that the shark decided I wasn't on the menu, at the the last moment. Thank you.

@nonstopheadThis video is really cool, but that conclusion is so upsetting. It's horrendous to think that people catch and kill these incredible fish, and in such huge numbers. And much of it for their fins, dumping the rest of the body entirely. What a tragic end for that poor mako.

@TuAviatorThere have been sightings of mako sharks In Huelva (Spain). But the were little. Thatâs in the Atlantic ocean. We also had a forking orca!!!!

@jamesmacleod4602Hi, great vid. I am from Cyprus and almost every year especially during tuna season thereâs numerous sightings of makos really close to the coast. Really big ones to be honest. There are vids avaialble and i have one where two of them where together probably 50m from the beach. I attach a vids. one of them was killed off Limassol beach, it was also travelling with another shark but the other was not captured (last vid, graphic sorry for my people for killing it).Itâs covered by news and media for fears of reducing tourism.
