The Interrogation That Made Detectives Go Silent

Video Overview & Insights

When first responders rushed to a burning home in February 2021, they walked into a nightmare. Michael Paton claimed he couldn’t remember what happened — only that his family was gone. But as detectives began to peel back the layers, a darker truth emerged. Behind the illusion of a happy family was a marriage built on control, obsession, and emotional collapse. Every question Michael dodged only exposed more cracks in his story… and when those cracks finally split open, there was no turning back.

How these cops treat people with respect knowing the crime they have just committed is something that they must dig deep in their soul to be able to do

Did girl really have to put chains in the dryer before her interrogation / interview?

Would you mind throwing a handful of nickels in the dryer?

This is the first time I’ve ever seen the detective interrogating a suspect ad not face the suspect head on with the intent to make full 100% eye contact.

She was beautiful and didn't want this miserable slob! As soon as he said what he had for breakfast I was like he's completely full of sh!t and his defense just went completely out the window!

If anyone spoke about my kids in the past tense, I’d know it’s not a slip of the tongue. No innocent parent would let that go.

I don’t know who this Josh fella is, but he absolutely nailed his profession. He’s perfect for this role. I feel like I’d tell him everything 😅

I often wonder what the investigators are thinking, cause the whole time I’m like “ Your lying so bad dude”. That over the top “No, No” nonsense about made me fall out of my chair . I really dislike this guy.

This entire interrogation is just weird. I am sure the detective has his reasons, but staring down and no eye contact is awkward. The killer's soft little voice is CREEPY! Not watching anymore, too slow!

This man is a complete narcissist. The detective started with addressing this. “Oh, that’s impressive you were a Marine? And such an important job you have”.
A good icebreaker from an excellent interrogator.

But. I don’t know if others think about this.
But why is the phone or whatever sending notifications with the beepbepp and the sound of vibration from a phone during the interrogations? Can’t they turn it off, it must be disruptive during an interrogation?

@akehapkap6143

I had seen this losers interrogation some months ago, someplace else- but I thought it was a great touch to add the two friends’ interviews too.

Always, always, always ask for an attorney. Do not talk to the police. I mean don't get me wrong, if you've killed your family, like this guy, I'm always glad they talk but as a general rule, don't talk. Even if you didn't do anything you're going to talk your way into a charge for something you didn't do. The cops can and will lie to you but it is illegal for you to lie to them. It's better to wait for an attorney. Even if it means spending a few days in jail until things are sorted out.

@LiliannaOGrady

It’s not sad, it is terrifying & infuriating because these killers are not in love, they are losing control of their hostage. She means nothing to him. This is a monster & his captive. Just one step up from a sex slave chained in the basement. The dynamics & torment are the same. You don’t murder your innocent children out of a broken heart, you do it to punish everyone involved. Don’t romanticize these monsters. Like rape, there is nothing sexual about it, it is to shame, overpower, & assault their spirit & feelings of safety & value. These are predators with zero humanity.

@robinpeppin
@

This guy is such a freak & a controlling pos. He whispers so you have to strain your ears to hear him. Controlling the situation. I couldn’t imagine living with this piece of garbage. Grossly overweight deliberately. He probably sat on her like that other creep who killed his wife. These poor women.

@robinpeppin
@

I am fascinated by the mindset that drives people….after 1, 2, 3, 4 hours of interview…..to say, “think I need a lawyer” after having started with “anything you say WILL be used against you”. I am blown away by this disconnect in the populace. Give your name, DOB, and after that DONT…SPEAK…TO…THE…POLICE.

Sound like she had some responsibility for the failure of the marriage as well. However, these videos (and yes, I include the rationalization of the narrator), because of the outcome, always focus on the ‘evil’ and the ‘failure’ of the one who committed the violence. We keep being told that he was overbearing to an extreme and that she needed “space” to “breathe”, etc. But what was she not giving that made him feel it necessary to press in so hard? He can’t be 100% to blame.
I tend to always go back to events like the Columbine Massacre or the Oklahoma City Bombing as tests of consistency: monsters are made. Some monsters might have predispositions, or higher potential to be shaped toward wrong thoughts, actions, but external wrongs are NOT without so e sort of blame. We love to ‘side’ with the surface appearance of blame.

This just popped up on my YouTube... Man that Detective is HOT..😊. But he's also good at his job. He's being polite and talking like he gets it like when they talk about the book etc. . Mikes obviously guilty as sin Allegedly but Detective isn't rushing him or judging him.. He's trying to get Mikes story while getting the answers he needs. But yeah Detectives Adorable.. Prayers for the wife and children. They are now safe in Heaven with Jesus.

He’s been with that woman since he was in high school. At that point, she’s like half of him. How did you get to a point where you could do something like that to someone who’s been with you since you were almost a child? I just don’t understand people. Then you took a baby out too. May God have mercy on your soul. Oh, by the way, his speaking to the officer about “ is and was” only means one thing: he’s been watching a lot of detective shows and CSI stuff. He knows, so he thinks he’s gonna play with his officer.
