So, what Rick is doing (it's something I am working on too) with his channel is important, as it will still reach a few, and hopefully instill some of the old ways in kids today, as those ways don't age, and are fast becoming like "scripture" haha

Agreed! I have been a musician for 43 years, and I played a 77 Rickenbacker 4001 stereo natural bass for 25 years till I fell on such bad times, I had to part with it. And it was such a part of me, as I play upside down, so the controls layout and reach and just how it felt was important...and it felt right straight away. I play with mainly fingers, but I switch and flip and use the whole picking range from bridge to board for tonal variation, and I do believe it's all down to one's hands and heart for sure!!! I know a lot of people are like "well it's just wood and steel"...It's not quite that simple, the relationship I had with my piece of wood and steel was an extension of me, which expressed so much emotion...and still, I think about it now, and it hurts like a bereavement or loss of family...
I know I'm not alone in this thinking.

Geddy was an inspiration, that Rick sound on Cygnus x1, When that bass lick swells in, and the tone sounds like a Leslie on slow revolution... PRICELESS.

Thank you for this interview Rick. I've been smiling and crying listening to these two wonderful guys. I am in the UK and can't afford a ticket to go see them which is a big loss; small stuff in the scheme of things sure but I know you'll understand where I'm coming from. I'm grateful to the guys like tapehead2 for their videos of the entire concerts. I don't flatter to deceive; Geddy doesn't sound as he once did, how could he but he sounds a lot better than on the clockwork angels tour and although they've always enjoyed performing this time around is something else. You might agree. Anyway if you see this comment I thank you again. God's blessings.

Watching this interview has really opened my eyes to just how good Rush are as not only a great band, but also as 3 individual artists creating their own unique sounds, but how complex their music is. Rush are possibly… no, undeniably the best 3 piece musicians collectively ever. Geddy plays bass, keyboards and does vocals. His range is incredible but with Alex and Neil it all comes together. Best band ever to walk this earth

Best Band in The World Hands down Cleaves Bodildy talked to him for a month before this tour, he would talk to me almost everyday!! Great Guy, So Happy Anika is pulling off Neil .... Rick, that was truly a one-of-a-kind interview by a very interesting and talented bass player in one of the biggest bands on the planet. It’s amazing how calm and relaxed he was during this entire taping. Just like a seasoned veteran.

Geddy and Alex never disappoint. I do not know if it was God, Karma, star alignment or PFM that brought Anika Nilles into the Rush orbit. All I know is these two old guys hit the lottery with her. The combination of talent is back in sync, and I absolutely love her presence and energy with these kings of rock. Great interview Mr Beato.

It's crazy to think that back in 1985, Geddy was close to producing Metallica's 3rd album, Master of Puppets. It's all because the influence of Cliff Burton, the band's informal de facto leader. Cliff was a massive fan of Rush, so he wanted to include elements of prog-rock into their latest album. The other bandmates were fully supportive.
To approach Geddy was easy because both bands were managed by Clive Burnstein. Talks had been underway between Lars and Geddy, however it didn't materialise because Geddy had his hands all full. Later Geddy said even though it didn't work out he was very honoured by the approach. Imagine how MOP would sounds like if Geddy was the one producing it.

I disagree with Geddy that Caress Of Steel was a "strange" record. It's no more odd than Farewell To Kings. I'd rank Caress Of Steel in my Top 5 Rush albums. I always liked it, and I appreciate it even more these days.

I was so Stoked to see You Guys and I will never forget a bunch of Hollywood Richy Type Glamour Boy Punks yelling at You Guys about half way into the show.
They are all buzzed out and going Uuuuuuuuuhhhhh Yah, Uuuuuuuuuuhhh Yah non stop as You are playing the next Song, One of Them starts yelling super loud
as a song ended, "Wow, You Guys are Really Talented, Hahahahaha, You Guys Rule, Uuuuuuu Yah" obviously make fun of Your singing style.
Alex looked out at these Glamour Punks and raised His hands to You and stopped the song before it ended!
You looked at Him and Smiled at each other and He went into one of the most Outrageous Guitar Solos I had ever seen, Playing behind His back, Playing laying on the Floor, Playing with His Teeth, doing a Full Hendrix style Guitar Solo that blew the Whiskey Crowd away with a Full Standing Clapping Ovation when He was done!
Honestly, everyone there started Booing those Punks as They sat there looking like Fools and They All got up and left!
Geddy, You Guys Killed it for the rest of the show, just ripping on that 1st Album!!
I have to admit, I did not expect Alex to be anywhere near that good on His Guitar, till He went into that Pissed Off, "Guitar on Fire" Solo!!

I can’t express the emotion that came through me seeing Rush in Chicago on 7/20/26. I bought tickets as soon as they released and even though they eventually announced they would be coming to Charlotte NC, about 2 hours from my hometown, we made the trek of 11 hours up to Chicago. Angry, tired and our asses sore we went to the show. (Forgetting we had VIP tickets.) We got to our seats and waited, after the funniest opening movie I had ever seen they launched into Xanadu, when Alex erupted into to opening guitar riff I sobbed with joy. I cannot express how tight and on point this version of the band is. I will be going once if not twice more. “2112”

I saw them in Chicago last week and it was awesome. Anika was fantastic and the best part of it was that she didn't parrot Neil's parts. Yes, there were fills that needed to happen (like Tom Sawyer), but she played the songs her way and it was awesome. They made the right choice.

That is wild that one of the Greatest rock instrumental tracks, YYZ, came out of "hey I'm bored, let's noodle around and see what we get". So sick

My neurologist went o see the concert - NEUROLOGIST! July 2026. I was so proud and envious. Thank you Dr. St. xxx I wish I could have been with you. Two sides of a profession and patient - wow. Thank you representing. It’s been 1994 since I had been, you just made it real for me. my Neurologist! Can you believe this! What a guy, what you are Thank you Eric. It’s a joy for a guy like me.

Fortunately, Rush has is kind of screwed over it. It’s true fan club that was there in the beginning.
And went to their concert like St. Louis KSHE radio
Who really were the fans that put them on the map.
And yet they won’t even come to our city
I remember they came back way back in the day Had one show turned into three sold out shows when they weren’t selling out anywhere else..

Best Geddy interview ever made and I still have a list: where that index-finger flick came from, the Wal, the Steinberger, why they kept going up to Morin-Heights to record in the Quebec cold when they could've gone anywhere, what that Trident A-Range at Le Studio did for those records, the toll the road took around Presto, and how much looser this band sounds now with Anika —Part two, Rick!

Geddy's impression of Neil is spot on!

2020 was a dark year for me. The loss of Neil Peart, the loss of Eddie Van Halen, and the loss of my Mom. Covid didn't exactly help matters.

What a great story this is. Tremendous interview. Just saw them on night 3 in Chicago. They played the whole Moving Pictures album after the intermission. It was the best concert I have eve been to. Just loved all the times when they were all were smiling at each other in pure joy of what they were doing.

Rush fans love talent. We love Anika's talent. WE DON'T WANT HER TO BE THE SAME AS NEIL. I can only speak for myself here, but I think others would agree. The last thing I want is a new drummer to try and copy Neil. I want to hear the new vibe. I want something different.
