@anthonypapp6349The conspiracy side of my brain says that the rise in financial scams is tied directly with the gambling problem. Mainly the celebrity/influencer backed scams with crypto or day trading that ruins people after rug pulls. People get ruined financially which in turn makes them more likely to gamble in vain attempts to get back what they lost.

I used to bet on MMA fights 10 years ago, and back then it was pretty niche. Now sports betting is completely out of control.
If they aren’t sports betting they’re buying trading cards or doing uninformed options trading. I know quite a few people seriously in the hole from options trading. They had no plan just desperation it seems.
I live in Australia so gambling addiction is nothing new. But recently a co-worker said that they couldn't go out for drinks on Friday, because they needed to wake up early on Saturday...To beat all the old ladies to the pokies.
