The End The Final KFC Recipe Video - Glen And Friends Cooking - KFC secret Ingredients revealed KFC Recipe series #10 The Final Episode.
wow how much for the fryer.... your batter isn't lumpy like kfc...
The search for a make at home KFC original recipe chicken has been long and difficult. Two independent contacts with close ties to Kentucky Fried Chicken and family ties to The Colonel himself provided me with ingredients lists... Both lists were almost exactly the same - with only one difference. Neither contact would give up the exact KFC Secret Recipe measurements, they wanted to keep some secrets, but eventually you will figure this out...
Ingredient list:
I see you’ve found the Marion-Kay seasoning. Yes, it’s the same exact one KFC uses as MK used to make it for them. I have a big jar of it and it’s so good.
Fine Salt
Fine Ground Black Pepper
Interesting. Cilantro tastes like soap to me. Is there some sort of relationship btw cilantro and coriander that they share this soapy feature?
Coarse Ground Black Pepper
Cracked Black Pepper
KFC yellow gravy and real butter ahhh yes those were the days ❤
Fine Ground White Pepper
Allspice / or / Summer Savoury
Yeah after the colonel died KFC went down the drain the chicken taste like cardboard today, the colonel is most likely turning in his grave, as someone who enjoyed KFC growing up it is just dreadful
Ground Coriander
Ground Ginger
Glen, is the chicken skin on or off for best results please
MSG
Rubbed Thyme
The recipe doesn't matter. When you see the pieces you know it's right. Ànyone can get close to the flavor but those machìnes at what temp. For how long?)
Ground Sage
Rubbed Marjoram
When the went from using shortening to frying oil completely changed a lot!
Of course there is more than just the spice mix; if you want that old school taste, you need to use a low protein flour, dip in an egg and milk wash, and pressure fry in hydrogenated cotton seed oil.

I too worked at KFC from 1976 to 1978 while in HS. Get yourself a box of Kentucky Kernel Seasoned Flour as this is pretty close 11 herbs and spices.

Perhaps the secret ingredient wasn’t an ingredient but a method such as brined in garlic & cracked pepper/peppercorn.

Hello! Why does this outlet at the glen food court take so long to fill orders??? Today it took a whole 20 minutes to fill my order of 2 for $5 order.
Can this be fixed. There is always a very long queue at this outlet. With only 1 person tending the counter. Really Kentucky ? Fix it please.

KFC was good in the 80s, I think. I can barely remember. Its been no good for sooo long now. But the fried chicken in the Deli at Krogers grocery store in the early 2000s kind of looks like what you made in the video. I wonder if when I ate grocery store fried chicken I was eating the Colonel's original recipe.

The search for the actual recipe isn't academic or whimsy, it's recipe preservation since KFC has gone so far downhill, people want to reclaim the original greatness.

Ate KFC in Malaysia years ago… original recipe chicken tasted slightly different aka bit more peppery but still good. Coleslaw was gross… wet sloppy goop and slight taste of vinegar.

Glen, get a life, really!
@golfernstWhere can I get the premix
@aryaans0116I want KFC's original slaw dressing recipe. I remember as a child in the late 60's / early 70's seeing these little ... very little black balls, much like a poppy seed in their slaw. Now, I was so young that it could have just been black pepper, but I distinctly remember it being tiny balls. But oh, was the slaw delicious! A little sweet, a little zingy - perfect combo! I wish the original recipe would be released. There are a lot of dupes / copycats, and sure it tastes good, but it's not quit the same.
@KarmahTheAntiBeezerCan we bring this back instead of the bozo on tiktok
@johnnydracaena6052This was so great. It took me back many years to my high school days & working in a KFC. I used to love eating KFC. And the smell was just overwhelming. You could smell it blocks away depending on the wind. Mmmm
@williamriley-le9zoI worked at a KFC in high school in So. Cal in the mid '70's. I started as a dishwasher ( they called me Lucky because I had " job security" ) & worked my up to cook. Oh Boy! At least I didn't have to constantly wash ALL of the pots, pans, & misc. dishes. As a cook I was "lucky" enough to be transferred to 2 other stores when staffing was short, always returning to my " home store ". At all 3 stores I saw the same level of abuse of food & disdain for preparation, serving, and storage. Back then we were allowed to take home any unsold products & I would only take what my dog would eat because I knew what was going on behind the screen that patrons could not see into the kitchen back then. ( Now it's all open & visible but then it wasn't! ) Back then if a piece of chicken slid off of a tray & fell on the floor it just got picked up & thrown in the fryer with the " inhouse saying of, no sweat, it's gonna get fried anyway right"? Sometimes the pieces were stepped on before they were picked up. The KFC I started working at was only 1&1/2 blocks away from MY high school. I used to see my friends & fellow students come in after school hours & order. After some time of wrestling my conscious I began telling my close friends what went on in the back & of course that got around the school. Not surprisingly, sales began dropping. LOL. Which was really a good thing because the manager, " Doug", was a complete a$$hole. He eventually was replaced, food safety protocol was retrained & enforced & sales came up again. BUT, to this day, I STILL will NOT eat at ANY KFC because of what I know. The Chicken did taste good though. I worked at a different burger place & it was not a lot different. I don't eat there either & yes, that business is still operating today. I guess it was just the '70's & that's what went on. Management didn't care & workers didn't care & the customers didn't know any better back then. Ahh, the good old days, yeah? And now we have delivery drivers eating part of the meals they're delivering. NOT mine. We go & get ours personally because of that & what I know. I apologize that this was so long but felt it had to be said.
@williamriley-le9zoCool hat
@Viking88PowerHello sir. Really like your videos. Just purchased an electric chicken pressure cooker. It says I must use a 3 phase plug. Do you use 110 single phase 15 amp plug to operate your pressure cooker? Would appreciate any info you can share with me. I only have a single phase electrical system. Thank you for your videos, very informative. I’m getting ready to try my new chicken pressure out….
@lyndalwilliams9076I hope Colonel Sanders sitting behind home plate at the Toronto Blue Jay's game brings some more viewers to this video! That was awesome that you flew to the last remaining KFC buffet in Canada!
@okanaganjustin9321I have the same pressure cooker. Discuss time, pressure, and temperature
@lananewlin3433I love to listen to you talk as I shoot up. It’s nice.
@MpoleYuwehNow I wish I knew how they make their gravy. I have tried so many recipes and was unable to find one that tasted remotely similar
@leizzell4827That looks so much closer to how I remember KFC when it first opened.
When KFC first opened, you could smell the spices as you walked past. It drew you in because it smelled so good. I even had a vegetarian friend who was repulsed by meat who thought it smelled good.
Now you walk past, there's no enticing smell, just hot oil smell. The batter on the chicken itself is much lighter in colour, and it doesn't have that KFC taste. All I can taste in it now is the msg aftertaste, and maybe a hint of pepper.
They still advertise that they're using the 11 herbs and spices so I can only guess they've just cut quantities in half. I get a feeling the oil plays a role too. Originally it was fried in lard. Later they switched to a blend of soybean oil which had naturally occuring MSG but was high in trans fats. Now they use rapeseed oil (canola in USA) which doesn't impart anything.
Cool.
@funkycowsx2The 'copycat' recipe that I have tried that came the closest for me did a mild cure of the chicken before breading and cooking. Has this channel covered that idea ?
@randyhawley7202Back in Canada during the 70's, KFC was absolutely great. The dinner box had that buttered French stick like bread, that creamy coleslaw, I think 2 pieces of chicken and their great fries. I think the recipes have gone down hill since then. It's just not the same anymore.
@robrosetogetherforever5738wow great video love the history and explanation. That is awesome and just looks like the way I remember KFC from the 80's and 90's.
@barrywolfe3117The pressure fryer / Broaster probably makes a huge difference.
There’s just something about pressure that makes it way better than normal frying.
Great video! I grew up eating Kentucky Fried Chicken's original recipe, with a honey packet. So good! I would like to have the pressure fryer with the temperature settings and Grace's flour or Marion's seasoning. I haven't eaten at KFC in years because I realized that I was wasting my money chasing a memory. I want to make this ASAP
@heatherdashrae2I don't think it is worth to even copy the whole thing... do your own is the best way to do it or just buy from the store. I have looked up the summer savory and it appears to be a blend of marjoram and thyme. With that, it could not be the one because there are marjoram and thyme are part of the last three. I think you just put summer savory for the confusion... hehe!
@KyosukeNanbu-s7cTheir Gravy was awesome also in the early days same spice as the chicken
@billlittle4285When I was growing up in the 60's and 70's, KFC was such a staple food item on Sundays or holiday gatherings. It was always plentiful and affordable. Something happen to that company long after the Colonel passed away. The pieces got allot smaller and greasier. Today its nowhere close to being the quality it was back in my era. And as of now, most KFC stores in my town have closed. Being cheap and greedy ruined them.
@Playitstraight44If your entire family works at KFC... To Jedd Foxworthy for the alley-oop!
@bacaliboyA whole lotta kluckin coming out this bird 🙄
@Maxi_wit_da_snapsiI know this video is 4 years old, but I have to comment on the cooking procedure. I worked at Scott's as a teenager and cooked the chicken. I think you missed one important part of that process, the "browning". After breading it was put in the pressure cooker, lid open, for 2 minutes to "brown", then the lid was closed and locked for 8 minutes to cook. After that it was put on a tray and placed in the "crisper", where it sat until purchased.
@realMikeDamageI’ve traveled a lot and hands down Malaysia has the worst KFC anywhere.. the locals seem to love it but it tastes nothing like the original recipe. It’s got a nasty salty pungent curry leaf flavour and it just doesn’t work. So disappointing after being so excited to get hands on some finger licking good chicken and what I got was finger flickin chicken 🤮
@audi3318I remember Scott's Chicken Villa from my childhood.
@MJG-d6sI don't even think KFC uses the original recipe anymore
@e3vL1So am I the only one kinda confused about this? Like are we just using the seasoning blend or are we adding the additional ingredients to the blend, did I miss that? I watched it twice to make sure.
@nothanks4509Problem is I don't eat fried chicken. Eating skin creeps me out. I use it in the soup. At home I don't bother deep frying and I'm more interested in the taste of the chicken than the coating anyway.
@Joe-yf4mwCotton seed oil is a toxic industrial byproduct that is more pesticide than oil. We can do better.
Thank you for your work.
I remember Kentuckey Fried Chicken coming to Auckland New Zealand , and finally went into a shop and tried some . It was disgusting , not the worst thing I'd ever tried in takeaway chicken, but pretty awful. I never went back until years later , when I tried it again... it was even worse! I don't know if it was a poor example or not properly prepared, but I've never bothered to go back for the last forty years.
@chrisgmurray3622What ended up being the time and temp used to pressure fry the chicken
@jawillmurphy25
