There's a lot of tips and tricks out there, but if you truly want to get overpowered early you need a step-by-step guide that shows you where to go, what to do, and how to achieve glory. In this video we take you from explorer to lord of the stars in a simple-to-follow guide.
0:00 - Intro & Setup
You do NOT need to start new game+ "naked and afraid". You can build a "quantum entanglement" locker at the lodge, and put stuff in it for the next run. So, I took weapons, spacesuit, ammo, and a few things worth money, because you can't take cash :)
1:40 - Step 1 | Focus on Key Skills
2:56 - Step 2 | Star at the Mission Board
Oh great another immature butthole who thinks the crimson fleet it's the only way to have fun in starfield 👎
You officially suck now
4:16 - Step 3 | Buy Your First Unique Weapon
6:19 - Step 4 | Groundpounder Mission
Easy mantis...once you leave extra and kill the pirate on the 2nd planet go to nova staryard and get the slate..easy w vasco
7:25 - Sponsor Message | Factor
8:29 - Step 5 | Legendary Armor & Ship
This my PS5 friends is exactly the video o was searching for!! Thank you!!
9:54 - Step 6 | Join the Crimson Fleet
11:37 - Step 7 | Put Down Some Roots

Did you really just call a rifle an AR ?
Pretty sure that ain't an armalite product.
AR ≠ assault rifle.

This guide is fine, BUT :-) Nearly half of the skills you recommend aren't worth it early on (or at all for some), being only mild percentage boosts instead of something more substantial. Weightlifting, in particular, is useless for real loot goblins, since they'll always be overburdened (barring long-distance cargo transfers, armor buffs, and Personal Atmosphere, the real solutions). Persuasion is fine (beats save scumming for sure), but the other two Social are pretty marginal compared to Isolation, especially for Nishina, and if you like Deception, why not Theft? Ballistics is a solid choice, but Demolitions isn't compelling until later (more grenades) and either Dueling or another stacking gun-specific choice would be better (you can reach NG+ using no weapon but the Cutter, with maxed Heavy Weapons and Lasers). Research Methods adds unneeded efficiency, even Astrodynamics is better since it allows for lighter ship builds (tangentially like Aneutronics), but I totally agree with Surveying, which is a great combat tool. We're on the generally on the same page for Tech, especially in skipping Ballistics.
Nothing I've said should override the joy of role playing, though. There is no overriding reason to min/max skill selection in Starfield since one could literally finish the Constellation questline without any skills at all. Free selection is the real guideline ;-) I just prefer picking skills that open up game play (Boost', Targeting, etc), rather than slightly lower the difficulty (Fitness, Weightlifting, Commerce, Scavenging, etc).
It's worth highlighting that Rejuvenation is a game changer, especially the upper tiers. Getting there through Boxing + Stealth + Nutrition or Martial Arts not only opens up Rejuv', but also Neurostrikes (which makes Boxing worthwhile) and Concealment, which stacks amazingly with Martial Arts + Dueling to make the player an overpowered stalking terror.
Piloting's impact on what ships you can capture really deserves highlighting as well, since higher tier ships are sweet cartons of XP, guns, occasional armor, and credits, not to mention that captured (and purchased) ship can have weapons and other parts on them that the player CANNOT buy at low level.
You also leave out weapons that can be trivially stolen in Neon (KORE, although supplying them with ammo is interesting), Hope Town (the gun store has three easily stealworthy guns, especially the two on the high shelves on the right wall), and - with more effort - the Wakizashi in the Seokguh Hideout, invaded from the rooftop over Frankie’s Grab + Go, and a lovely Minigun in the Well to give your follower. There's also a gun in a bar in the Well that you can easily get if you let a certain mechbot run wild instead of immediately killing it) It's also surprising that you don't mention having a follower, something essential for crazier play. In 2024 this might mean doing the Oracle at level 11 on Extreme to get early access to a Schimaz, back when the video was made it would mean jumping to "eastern" systems to scrounge for better gear in high level systems, or capturing ships above your own level.
And lastly, for that extra boost at the start, Vectera can be cleaned out for a healthy chunk of credits, a real boostpack (letting you invade from the rooftop on Kreet), and even some extra credits you let the pirates kill more of your fellow miners. And if you have Targeting, you can even capture, on a good day, ALL of the enemy ships over Vectera.

I disagree with commerce. In fact, in all bethesda games, skills that cause you to "buy for less sell for more" is a waste of a skill point.
I know that seems counterproductive but hear me out. In fallout, skyrim, and now starfield, you have weight limits, and vendors have currency limits. In all of these games, the amount of loot you pick up, weapons, armor, etc that you are dragging to vendors is so far beyond how much cash any vendor has at any time that you almost always wind up waiting a day, or having to hit up 2-3 or more vendors just to sell all your stuff. These perks will technically improve your financial gain a bit....but it will drag out the time you have to sell your haul of shit by at least 1-2 more "wait 24 hours" cycles"
In skyrim and I think fallout (been a while but I THINK fallout has this kind of perk) there were parts of these stats that would result in the vendor having a higher amount of currency, I know in skyrim there was both a "vendors have X more gold" and "you can invest in a vendor so they will always have X more gold" But I haven't found that in starfield. So in starfield all you're doing is speeding up when you will hit that 5000 dollars per day limit that the vendor has before you have to sit on a chair for a day like a bum
1 thing i havent seen anyone mention is if u have a resource planet linked to your main crafting planet how does the resource amount transfere work. By that i mean if u link 3 resources into 1 cargo link does the ship pick up the same amount of all 3 resources or how does the priority work. The main problem with this system is that u cant sort what solid box takes what resource so if u have lets say 3 solid boxes linked together importing Iron, Copper and Aluminum from your resource planet but u mostly end up only using 2 of the 3 resources then evventuelly all boxes are gonna be full with that 3rd resource and nothing can get imported. Is there a way to avoid this without having to use 1 cargo link for each seperate resource? And no building more boxes is not a solution thats just kicking the problem forward.
@Shiftry87I liked this video a lot. Hopefully, you guys did get that outpost video, I'm going to take a stroll through your videos now because I hate outpost building, so I'm looking forward to learning more about it!
@stevekuhns1729You have recommendations for all weapons but NO melee?! I am a melee build on my first play though currently.
@1HeatWalkOMG IM LEVEL 8 first time playing Starfield watched beginner vids then this vid and I already got elegance, and I already got secret outpost! And was wondering what mantis was!! Omg in hype af I got 3 days offf after today so pumped
@flashyjackyoutubeAwesome video. So helpful
@thamiltttOMG the Revenant just freaking melts people!
@dieseljesterPlaythrough 3 for me had a Legendary MagShear in a chest on the way to The Revenant that was better than. Couldn't believe my luck.
@90rohancd13Man I miss the days where looking up “how to get op” for basically any game would just be a 2 minute video where a dude circles an area on a map 13 times then shows you where an op item is.
@jaythered420Missed one. Radburn is one of the best early 'damage over time' weapons in the game with 2 types of dot that can kill a terrormorph in 16 or less shots. Available as soon as you turn in the artifact. Start the vanguard quest and head to the meat plant on tau ceti. At the far end of the place it is in a weapon case in a storage container. Bring your jet pack.
@corrosiongodBro built mo Salah
@MightyMoose-02was really helpful. 😊
@Zupheofor melee stealth style (which I personally think is the best) - in Neon you can steal an OP katana at level 1 which will last you the entire game.
Sell it in wolf and buy it back to remove the stolen status, there is literally no other weapon you will ever need.
This is sub optimal on many levels. 1- make two outposts on Bessel IIIb. One for aluminum and one for iron. 2- make adaptive frame until you reach the level you want. 3- sell your infinite money. 4- start the game with whatever you needed. PS: Bessel IIIb hours are 57 uc h. Production is insane. THIS is how you start a game.
@zhongda666I want to say I was 30 hours into the game before I got the mantis quest
@chrishoobler522Curious if you know, is the loot at the surplus vendor at the well random? Can you wait and it change to something different? Also I know if you set your game mode to very hard before checking them they tend to have better mods at least
@geronimo1987nice. one remark, noticed it in one of the previous videos as well: you say "leave the galaxy"; where you meant leave the solar/star system. sadly only one galaxy there and you cant leave it
@wancha5050If you plan on New game Plus in you should do it as soon as possible and go as far as you want to go I'm presently on my way to new game plus 10 and then I will start building all my outposts and ships and stuff like that. I'd rather be super op and then start playing then start playing and then decide I want to get super op and lose everything
@krookedliptv9852You lost me at buy a gun in a game where most every enemy drops weapons
@PatJWilliamsNice to see this and work through it when i get to new game plus 10 so i can keep everything and be overpowered😂
@ItaChu787pr150 hours in. Never invested in weight lifting.
@mousevision661Why? The game is 2 year old's difficulty from the get go.
@NeuroPulseThis was a very good video good comment section to 😊
@-_-GT350will i still have a chance at the Revenant if i go the route of the undercover UC mission?
@ProudDadificationThe Commerce perk is a total waste as you'll soon be rolling in credits. Each perk choice is precious,
@sofajockeyUKffs do not do any mission! Just survey gas giants and sell the data in the eye. Way easier to make credits.
@Shob816:46 "...and at the end, you'll be able to loot one of those hexagonal loot chests..."
That's not a hexagon. Hexagons have six sides. The individual sides of the loot chest are pentagons, which have five sides. The 3D shape, as a whole, is a regular dodecahedron, which has twelve faces. Just sayin'.
Otherwise, very informative. Thanks!
Thank you, thank you, thank you so much for connecting the Ballistics skill to physical damage! I thought I needed to waste a bunch of skill points to get to Rifles to enhance my dmg with my Magshear. 😊

@ubernate860The mantis puzzle [8:57] can be skipped by destroying the turrets from cover. Destroy turrets, walk right through.
