I hate your Spotify wrapped. right, That is what a lot of people who are boycotting Spotify are saying right now as they've launched a campaign to get people to ditch the platform in protest over i.c.e. ads that it runs. right, and this movement is called Spotify Unwrapped And it was launched by progressive grassroots groups like the Working Families Party and the Indivisible Project. and these I.c.e. recruitment ads, I mean, they've been controversial for a few months now. and while actually tons of streaming services have been running these ads, Spotify has kind of gotten the brunt of it. and you know you've seen this boycott movement just kind of bubbling up for a while now. right, with people on Spotify community forums saying they're leaving the service, calling the ads unacceptable, and saying they don't want to support fascism. right, And then with all of thought that one of the big reasons that we're seeing headlines about this today is that Spotify Wrapped just launched. right, you got everyone and their Mother talking about Spotify right now. and you know, all this hype, it really ends up paying off for Spotify. I mean, just in its first 24 hours, Spotify wrapped reportedly engaged 200 million users, which is nearly a 20% increase from last year. and so that's why this unwrapped movement is, you know, trying to take advantage of all that momentum. and even sharing alternative graphics that look like Spotify’s that people could post, that discuss the i.c.e. ads on the platform. with indivisible’s co-founder writing that, “a fun look back on the year in music hits different when it's paired with propaganda for Trump's deportation machine.” saying, “remember: don't use Spotify while the platform runs recruitment ads for Ice.” But for now, as we wait to see how this continues to play out, I definitely would love to know your thoughts. And even if you knew that this was a thing that was happening right now.

When I saw the ICE ad on Spotify, I dumped them. I wasn't a premium member, but I felt that they would miss all the commercials I wouldn't be seeing. About a month later I get an email saying " we miss you." I just wonder how much they make per ad. I guess I have to dump YouTube because just now, I saw an ICE ad for the first time. 😢

To be honest I’ve stopped using Spotify the second it became as expensive as it is all while still giving artists less than a penny per play

@BoatangaI don't use Spotify. I much prefer to illegitimately own the music I listened to instead of borrowing it from some corporation, so I pirate everything and download it onto my server.

@SoraQuillI got maybe two ICE ads on Spotify. I'm all for fighting against ICE, but I think the "I don't like this" (or whatever it's called) feature on Spotify does genuinely work. I'm sorry but I can't drop Spotify, no other app does what Spotify does. I can't boycott this one.
@JustADogLover396pepole dont know what add provider are : they are services (like google add on youtube or internet in general) who run add on thoses Platforms. They are the first that aloowd that kind of add. So Spotify isn't whit but not the main culpit caus it's the said service that chose which add can or can't be displaed on the different plateform that use this service
