Sony Just Killed ALL Physical PlayStation Games, Everyone is Angry...

Investors are trying to turn gaming into a monthly cell phone service.

I'm done with Xbox and Sony going forward, they've burned up whatever good will they had this generation. It's all PC and my Switch handhelds going forward, I see no reason to invest in next generation's consoles, all benefits of a console have been removed.

Remember the BetaMax machines? Sony built a much better video system than VHS but attempted to control the industry by only allowing licensed movies to be played on their system. That greed cost Sony billions as the entire industry moved to VHS despite the lesser technology. I hope that happens again, with Sony once again attempting to control the output on their systems. Now they want you to pay a thousand bucks for a system and let them control its use. What is wrong with those people? Don't they learn anything from their own mistakes?

The abhorrent greed by Sony and other companies. It's fucking absolutely disgusting and I'm done with anything in Sony's "future". Fuck them and fuck their alleged "trends".

Actually this difference in price between physical media and digital and Sony PlayStation wish to get rid of it is very telling how expensive the games become. Nobody wants to buy this sh**, and wait till price drops.

It's time to have a serious conversation about GOG. Buying a game on that front store allows us to keep the game even if it leaves the front store. And much more interesting, gog allows us to DOWNLOAD the offline installer and store it, keeping it forever.

One of the main reasons people get consoles is physical games. There’s no reason to get another PlayStation if it’s all digital. Steam and Gog and better deals. We need better laws to protect us from predatory practices. We should own the digital media we pay for.

Who is still buying a physical disc in 2026? I thought everybody went digital as soon as the PS5 came out. I literally don’t know anybody that buys physical disks anymore 😂

The limited to 100 Gig of prostata for PS5 disc how many more games are going to be over that so what's the use of put it on desk if you're not going to have the whole game and there's certainly not going to do multiple game discs that was in the long ago on the PC side. From Christ sakes we haven't had this drives on PCS and over a decade it wasn't sufficient then and it isn't sufficient now. So do you want to have Grand Theft Auto on 3 discs installing an slow 30 mb per second, what others download at 500 megabytes a second are already playing before you get that second disc in? It's a good thing cuz you don't own anything but a piece of plastic and it's a piece of plastic get scratched in the way that it cannot read the key you're screwed and no longer have a playable game

If they are forcing you to go digital, switch to PC. I have both PS5 and PC and i only use PS5 for online games but story driven games are unmatched on PC. Please switch

Been playing pc for 14 plus years can’t recall the last disk I ever owned

So if less people are buying the discs then why don’t they manufacture less discs so they save money and still accommodate to that remaining customer base who won’t go digital. Capitalism isn’t supposed to be a one size fits all. Companies should be capable of listening to every individual customer’s needs and wants to get the best possible product out there. If only 15% of game sales are physical keep printing discs to provide for those remaining customers.

I now have no regrets switching to PC. My PS5 is now in the attic.
