I've decided to take a trip to Sunbury in Surrey to the world famous Costco wholesale to review some of their incredibly well valued food that they sell in their food court. It's my first time in Costco, lets give it a go!
It’s interesting…a lot of the food looks similar to US Costco. We don’t offer baked potatoes, and I don’t know what sandwich is currently being offered, but everything else looks the same.
The Costco food court has a soft spot in my heart: Years ago, when I got my first real grownup job, it was a night shift at a bank, and we weren’t allowed to take Saturdays off for years.
Well…something changed and I was one of the first to get a Saturday off. When Mom found out, she took me to Costco that Saturday. She got a hot dog and soda for each of us, along with a gelato. So we ate at one of those Costco picnic tables with a hot dog in one hand and the gelato in the other hand. It was a little silly, but it was worth it. ❤
The food at Costco certainly isn’t the best you’ll ever eat. But especially in the case of the hot dog special with the soda, Costco is selling it at a loss to get people in the door. Costco would rather lose money at the food court if it means people will come in, look around, and maybe buy something later. And Costco has a reputation for treating its employees well - good salary, good benefits.

In Canada, anybody can get a Costco membership. That was not always the case.. it’s quite remarkable to see the UK Costco with hardly anybody in it. Compared to the Canadian ones that are very full. We do not have the chicken bake or the double-decker chicken sandwich.. We have a very big Montreal smoked meat sandwich.. Japan has a Bulgogi bake, which is absolutely awesome. The pizza here seems to be very oily.

I was in Costco today, it was a stampede , phew. But well worth it. Food is basic BUT not on a bank holiday. Cheers Gary.

weused to popo up to costco from work they used to do an enormous chicken pasty type thing amazing you could hardly eat it all also enless soda hot dogs lids even came from the nearby school for lunch

They undercharge for their food and deliberately lose money on it, as well as on their eggs, milk, bread, rotisserie chicken and petrol, because once they've got you in the door, and you've bought a load of cheap stuff, they've got you hooked, and you end up spending a small fortune.

@AlanRose-m4xSkip the chicken sandwich, you can buy a whole roasted one for that price. They supposedly operate at a loss, Very good deals, my style of place.
@freehat69I'd go for the hot dog and drink and a slice of pizza. All of that for £3.50 you cannot go wrong with that.
@Mr.M1STERWhen I'm in the UK, I miss costco so much, my partner and I grab a slice of pizza every time we shopping - its mandatory LOL. Sadly, I think you have to be a business owner or somthing to go to Costco in the uk

@Brian_BadondeGreat video Gary. It is worth considering that these great value prices are only available to Costco members, who have to pay an annual membership fee. And more importantly in my opinion, this membership is only available to people of certain professions and/or business owners.

In Canada we have the Costco Business centres you can buy the normal Costco or you buy in bulk. Instead of buying 6 kg packages of chicken breast you buy a case of 15-20 6kg packages. Instead of 100gram salami you buy the 1.4kg Salami sausage. And it is the price of 4 of the 100gram packages. Mind you 20 x 6kg packages is 265 lbs.

@arenjay3278the hot dog is whats known as a loss leader , like Sainsburys tesco etc with the meal deal , they lose money on the deal but they know it gets customers in the door and then they can charge more for other items and make the money back
