A 4K HDR sample from my Extended Star Wars Episode I Cut, simply titled "The Phantom Menace - Extended Edition". As of today, both cuts have now been updated to a new 2.0 version, featuring several minor tweaks in audio, updates to the HDR color timing (especially for Episode I), tweaks to transitions, and brand new A.I. upscales of many of the deleted scenes. A total of 7 deleted scenes have been restored in the film.
Note: The trimmed down version of the duel of the fates battle is only for the youtube upload. The version scene in the film cut itself won't be intercut in this same way.
awesome fight scene horrible character development and story telling. .... pressed for time every second counts. 1 dude clearly waiting for you over 20 armed people including military, diplomats, and the queen known to do things her way and stand her ground. who have more actual power in dictating what happens......They would all 100% have instantly lit dude up or forced his surrender. Jedi prioritize peace and avoid violence whenever possible. As keepers of the peace, their doctrine dictates that they use the Force and their lightsabers strictly for knowledge and defense, never for attack. Not once did quigon try and de escalate. He would use his numbers to get a peaceful surrender or be forced to end the JEDIS ARCH NEMESIS. The trained soldiers and security would NEVER take their aim off him. Quigon would never engage so aggressively or at all.... He would know its clearly a trap. Obiwon and quigon are master and apprentice extremely in tune with one another. His goals at the time were to retake the royal throne room and capture Viceroy Gunray. Instead he told his forces just go the long way. we need the biggest threat to republic, you know arch nemesis to the jedi, one of the most dangerous single dudes out there to have a more level playing field...... Maul who was SMOKING qui gon on tatooine now wants to run? Clearly leading him..... Keepos attacking even though 2 man advantage is gone. Keeps attacking even though he knows obi won would have to wait through forcefield beams?...... Maul is using more defensive double saber instead of single he was wining with on tattooiine.... Like a young padwon wouldnt be that dumb. Scene goes against so much. Maul had done absolutrly nothing to generate any rage or reaction from qui gon. i hate it....
He would force a surrender or party would light him up.... He would want a peaceful resolution regardless, But a chance to interigate a sith apprentice would be invaluable. worst scene since obis death.....

@Michael-ih2hlFor a series that got criticised pretty hard. This scene is still amazingly effective. Great acting, the score is timeless, and then tension of just waiting for those beams, that was just such a great directing choice.

The fucking music manages to sync up with their lightsaber strikes and the amount of planning, perfectly timed choreography, musical expertise that must have gone into this singular blink and you miss it moment should earn it a spot as one of the greatest shots in movie history
If you ever want to pretend you're Qui-Gon at 2:48, try this out. Next time you're stopped at a red light at night, close your eyes. You'll see the red light through your eyelids. When the light turns green, you'll see that through your eyelids too, at which point you immediately open your eyes and peel out. You'll feel like The Force is with you. You also may wind up crashing into somone or fail to see the green light and then have the guy behind you blast his horn, but no risk, no rush.

@Paddyandtheremeedy1:48 That shot always bugs me. Looks like Qui Gon is gonna land flat on his back, then suddenly he's back upright for a smooth landing. You can tell the stunt man was jumping onto a mat that was green-screened out, landing flat to spread out the impact.

As far as I can recall, his name was even pronounced ONCE in the entire movie!
Jesus, it really took me this long to realise, The Old Republic does reference this scene with a couple of skills used to stand still on a spot to regain health.
I didn't notice until i realised Maul's movement is exactly the same as the one you can do while using "Seethe" as the Sith Inquisitor.
Thats really neat.
