Purchased New Farm- Someone Isn't Happy
Video Overview & Insights
Planting 2026 is officially in the ground. The last day is always a little bittersweet — planting's my favorite thing to do — but I'd rather have the seed growing than sitting in crates in the shop.
I'm thinking that tv/monitor is a husk from your growing YouTube channel 😊
This one also covers a field that's new to us. I picked up about 107 acres over the winter, and somebody in the comments figured that meant I must be out undercutting my neighbors to get it. So I told the whole story of how it actually happened — because that's not how we do things, and it never has been. Plus the last seed-tender fill of the year, the downforce automation reading a field different than I expected, and the new herd at home.

And farmers cry about how poor they are and need constant subsidies
0:25 Last seed-tender fill of the year
1:03 Moving planter parts (old IRDs up for grabs)
Congratulations on the new land. Some jealous folks out there, ehh?
2:07 Someone dumped their garbage in our field approach
3:33 Swapping chemical totes & the new sprayer sun shade
Where are you centor pivots
3:59 Splitting up: Dad sprays, Onyx tills, I load the planter
5:36 Why a good seed tender is worth it
Nice job on your process acquiring the new land. We’ve done the same here buying land and leasing land and we always have an open and honest conversation with the parties involved. These are your neighbors and they all have long memories. Reputation outlives a single generation.
5:57 White mold scores — which beans go first
7:13 The new field, and the comment that called me a land grabber
I was coming back for that stuff. Lol😊
10:10 Downforce automation reads this field different
12:01 106.49 acres done
Onyx sounds like your dad on the radio.
12:26 The final field — roots, rocks, and a cleaned-up ditch
15:02 Done — planted for 2026
Thanks for the video.

Congrats on the land purchase. I think it shows your character that someone would offer the land for you to purchase. You can’t be an @$$hole and have that happen

Zach Johnson, the “Millennial Farmer” is a 6th-generation farmer who’s spent his life growing, working, and learning on his family’s farm. His wit and dry sense of humor appeal to children and adults alike. A product of the millennial generation, his appreciation of new technology blends with his old-fashioned work ethic, and he offers a unique ability to deliver his message in a way that resonates with lifelong farmers as well as those with no knowledge of agriculture. With growing consumer awareness about where their food comes from, Zach has identified the need for an independent voice from the front lines of agriculture. Zach actively promotes agriculture by sharing his day-to-day experiences in the agriculture world while providing farmer-to-farmer education to help facilitate a collaborative conversation between farmers and the public.

@marks7502My grandmother passed away last spring and before her body was cold, a local farmer was there asking my grandfather to sell. The farm was in a trust and was now locked up. He didn't consult with me or my brother, and he lawyered up against his kids who wouldn't sign off to disolve the trust.
Grief takes people and turns them into something no one recognizes. In the end, his kids signed off. He sold the farm: 20 yr old 3,000 sq ft house, massive shop/machine shed, 200 cow barn, and 160 acres with lake and ponds for $3,000/acre.
There are farmers that prey on the elderly. My grandfather didn’t research the market. $1.2 million would've been fair. But here he is, broke. Tax man took his share and the nursing home took the other 1/2. And something we all thought would stay in the family, a meeting place for everyone for 60 years, all the memories, gone.
If you need help deer hunting that new piece let me know?😁
@engfishman87has your dad still got the broken red tractor at his house..........or has it turned green.
@nickbowes2627Vincent Van Gogh right into the garbage!!
@keithmcdaniels1632You’ll need better radio handles
@rammiller5114Farm bankruptcy is up by 46% since January 1, 2025. I wonder why? This administration has been a total disappointment I miss Biden it’s so bad.
@Hannibal54689I had someone that must have had a 4th of July party drop all kinds of garbage in a field entrance. Beer bottles and wine bottles and used fireworks. AND.....the dummies left some of their mail in the pile as well. So I decided to find their house and throw all their crap on the roof of the house. The guy came out ready to rumble and when he found out why I was doing what I was doing, he went inside and I could hear him screaming at his son. That worked out well. Also had two guys drop off an old used couch in the entrance way while I was there disking. So i pushed it out on the dirt road, doused it with some diesel and set it on fire. The county was nice enough to come put it out and take it away for me. Not sure why they did that but I never said a word to them about it. :)
@rayjupina6719Glad u finished planting 👍🏻🇦🇺

I laughed out load at the baby chicks in the cage tote! ingenious solution.
@willdobie8455Well Zach, 1.15 million subscribers, minus one, think its great you had the chance to keep another 107 acres in farmland! We all understand you were in that position because of the work that you and your family have put in. When he reads these thousands of positive comments, maybe he will have the good sense to just shut up! Keep doing what you do. Congratulations to you and Becky.
@tomrike3488While absolutely no excuse for illegal, remember that cities make trash disposal complicated and/or expensive. Also, companies build what they sell to fail as fast as they can to get you to buy more.
@zekesanonymityBut guys Zack and pops ain’t big enough to run over guys. Relax.
@JGhermaphthrmanYou tube funds the land payment. That’s capitalism boys! So we make Zacks payment. Genius.
@JGhermaphthrmanI’ve been seeing mattresses on fields sometimes people don’t like their garbage and they throw it around the on the sides of the fields people have to be so rude and mean do this kind of stuff
@michaelmurdick6171Our dog is always laying in our way too. We call it a dog log or dogjam!
@theforeman1097Congratulations on the land purchase. Always a good long term investment.
@johnnyjoejimbobI apologise. I was just wandering how often you whacked your head on the seed tender, then you whacked your head on the seed tender. So that was entirely my fault.
@kevinwallace439115:34 Jefferson Starship - Jane on the radio sound just like Aldo Nova - Fantasy chords👍
