Tomar was one of my very favorite places to visit! And the boat ride on the Tagus River to the Medieval Castle of Almourol was surreal!
Awesome video! Thanks, Dave! We also loved Obidos in the afternoon, after the tourists left!

Great video, but you are missing on the islands, Açores and Madeira are for sure top contenders! Your portuguese is actually very very good, parabéns!

Half Spanish, half Portuguese here. I live in Spain, but Portugal has a big place in my♥. To my surprise you mentioned Sesimbra, that's a beach I used to go when I was a little child. I don't remember much, but it seems like I should go back to visit.
And... I was wondering if you were going to mention Tomar ♥, my Mum's city. I haven't been there for 7 years (time flies), I still have family there and I'm hoping to go visit next year!! I love Portugal and Portuguese people! Thanks for being so caring and respectful with my second country! I wish you all the best in life!

Thanks for another great video. I just got back from an amazing week in Portugal where I spent a full day each in Lisboa, Porto, Sintra, Valenca/Tui, and Viana do Castelo. Between my poor Portuguese and their excellent English, I had no troubles communicating. The hardest part was when I crossed from Valenca to Tui and had to switch from my poor Portuguese to my poor Espanol. I kept pronouncing words wrong. I do have my favorites of where I visited, but what I realized is that I just have to get here; I can figure it out from there. Unfortunately, part of my retirement plan includes a pension that is five years away and I haven't been able to make the numbers work without that. ❤🇵🇹

Hey Dave! Make sure to checkout the Castelo Branco region and all the Xisto villages around the interior of the country.
The triangle of Idanha-a-Velha/Nova with Penha Garcia and especially Monsanto (where they filmed game of thrones) is absolutely breathtaking

Obrigada pelo teu respeito e carinho que tens por Portugal! I'm from Lisbon and it breaks my heart how much this is changing, just where I live _ Estefania - there's another hotel being built where it used to be a building with apartments for people. Makes me furious to be honest - all about some making money>
loved this video - Portugal is definitely Portugal but not really Lisboa anymore

I’ve been to Évora three times., most recently for almost two weeks. It’s beautiful, culturally rich, has some of the country’s best restaurants, and was a great base from which to explore the Alentejo. Can’t wait to go back.

Last time I was in Portugal, I passed through Lisbon very quickly. In the short time I was there I couldn't go a city block without someone begging for money or trying to sell me drugs. I visited Coimbra,Tomar, Ponte de Lima to Chaves, Guarda, Fundao, Castelo Branco, Evora , Sagres, Albufeira, Portimao, Faro, Loulé, Tavira and a few others on a two month trip. I've been to Lisbon three times. I stay away now.

the terceirra islands are breathtaking

Brunch restaurants with an umlaut..brutal, lol. It's true though, Lisbon is quickly becoming the LEAST portugese city in the country, and those who only plan their trip around Lisbon are really missing out. Don't get me wrong though, I still love Lisbon but I've seen it change over the years and I think it tries way too hard to appease tourists, especially americans.

Really good job and it highlights the fact that in spite knowing the country from north to south, there's STILL a lot of places to visit and explore. If I may offer some suggestions...
Estremoz
Batalha
Sagres
Lamego
Peniche (between Nazare and Ericeira)
Zambujeira do Mar. This last one had the best seafood restaurant I've ever experienced in Portugal.

@richardhodge4556
@

A few inland gems in the Algarve - Silves for it's incredible medieval castle and vibe, and Caldas de Monchique for a hidden hot-spring retreat in the hills

@DarthFurball
@

Serra da Estrela, with Manteigas as the center spot (have to try the feijocas). Also Monsaraz and Aldeias de Xisto.

@JoãoPCarvalhinho

Hahaha buddy if you want the REAL portugal... then survive on 600-800 euro NET a month

Hi Dave,

I love this video and we just came back from Potugal and we spent some time in Avis. We did Marvao too but I'd you to feature that little gem, Avis also.

Hi Dave ... totally loved this video in particular. Setubal / Palmela, and the old town of Reguengos on top of the hill are other gems worth exploring. Well done my "Portuguese" friend.

Appreciate the content as always and just to say... I'm still here and actually will be round Lisbon end of October so the recent vids have been really helpful! (Nope I won’t limit my stay to just Lisbon 😆)

What’s the point traveling by plane to see calm beaches, an occasional castle and enjoy fish? Any better CO2 friendlier suggestions?

Congratulations, you actually pronounced Porto properly. Most folks don’t…

Thanks for enjoy our beautiful country. A big hug from Sesimbra.

Exactly on point. We live in a small village in central Portugal and visit larger cities in the off-season. The local food is amazing, and the people are welcoming and helpful with your Portuguese when you order. We love our life here and the slower pace compared to the US. Thank you for showcasing the true side of Portugal for those seeking the essence of what Portugal truly offers.

@Mike-y7v6q

Dave my recommendations: Monsanto, Silves, Mértola, Alcácer do Sal, Vila Viçosa, Bragança, Vila do Conde, Lamego, Tavira, Viseu, Castelo de Vide, Monsaraz, Parque Natural de Montesinho, Parque Natural de São Mamede, Parque Natural do Guadiana, Parque Natural do Sudoeste Alentejano, Parque Natural do Douro Internacional.

To visit, Alvito in Alentejo.

I appreciate the beautiful pictures. You know how to make videos, but please be honest. As beautiful as it has been, you should not hide the Indian and Muslim invasion that is destroying the local cultural heritage and replacing the Portuguese people.

You're the best Portuguese YouTuber Dave. Congratulations on you great videos and thank you so much for your hard work!

@SandraRRmos

Great work, Dave. And there's a lot to find and discover. Get lost in Serra da Estrela and Açor, one of the most beautiful landscapes in Portugal.

Just for shits and giggles all the parks are generally the same and go by just a out the same rules, only one is called Nacional because it is financed by the Central government. The other parks are financed by local governments.
