Netflix's Avatar Season 2: An Overanalyzing Review and Comparison
Video Overview & Insights
Netflix's Avatar The Last Airbender has released 2 further years of production. After the disappointment of season 1, can season 2 be a significant improvement?
Like comment and subscribe and maybe the Netflix overlords will let me post the rest of the season 2 videos to youtube.

Netflix Avatar The Last Airbender also.
Itâs not saving time if the new thing isnât actually efficient. Theyâre just moving things around, taking out the context, and adding filler bullshit

I agree this season was better then the first, and I actually really found myself enjoying the scenes things they added in to spice up the team avatar drama/violent nature of the world
@CheefSpleefAre you going to review the video game when it fully releases? đ
@ObiwanNekodyFor me episodes 1&2 felt like some scenes were like a 7/10 when the gaang was just being the gaang, but then the plotlines were like 3/10. From episode 3 on it went much much better, then episode 7 was again quite worse.
More indepth, I like how Toph made Aang face the Boulder as part of 'training' and they ended up instructing him as well. I must say, while most bending looks fine, the earthbending visuals seem a bit too slow to me. I liked the involvement of the painted lady and also interesting to see Jeong Jeong in there. I thought Sokka's emotions about Yue was pretty good, didnt bother me. What did was how he had to say the Cactus juice lines. I wouldve just thought it might me much funnier if halfeay saying it he passed out again; it was just a bit forced the way it was (also the comment on the giant friendly mushroom was so out of nowhere). I did wonder if that was also a scripted thing or the actor just improved it in and they kept it. What also annoyed me in the last episode and kept me distracted too much is that Katara was caught in her painted lady costume and then at some point had her normal clothes on again.
Overall it was definitely a great improvement upon season 1. Im just hoping they will keep improving.
Wow this is the first time I hear about this.
@Mar_TenI'm the Netflix writers team and I just invented this shit.
@Hussain_ZakiHard disagree for the "the action is great". Dude the fight choreography in the very first fight in episode 1 was SO AWFUL I decided to stop watching right then and there. It's a pointless fight against dozens of faceless goons with a terrible choreo. And that's the first thing you see after a terrible first season? Nah man. Bye. Insane that you actually praise it.
@egalomon1:50ish...woah woah woah woah wooooooahaaahhhh...Was Toph training Aang Erathbending...IN HER HOUSE!?!?!?! All hope is lost. Why you gotta ruin a perfect show??? The Ember Island Player did it better before Sokka intervened
@SpartanX317is it just me or does it deadass feel like a disney channel interpretation
@jakexĂžticSo glad I can trust you to give me an honest and sincere review so I donât need to suffer through this considering I didnât even make it through season 1
@TaeKwonJoe_exe12:05 missed an opportunity to say you'd have legend of Korra
@pugulishus2769Coming from Overanalyzing avatar and watching this review it's depressing. No wonder his views went down.
@IAmProdAGIdc Iâll say it, this series wouldâve been better as a shot-for-shot adaptation (especially considering what their âeffortsâ have produced). Someone already made the point in a pretty good review on this website that the total run time of the animated show is basically the same as the live action if their season 3 is about the same length as the 2 present seasons (a thought I had looked into days before I watched said review). And thatâs IF you kept in sum of the fat n filler of the animated show. Thereâs multiple episodes across the animated series you couldâve trimmed down to a scene you stuff in the live action plot, if not just cut out entirely (*coughs Great Divide). But itâs fully apparent more than ever regardless of what passionate fans were working on the show, Netflix was just trynna do the cheapest cash grab possible. Emphasis on cheap cuz it just feels they never trusted in their ability to create something amazing that could sell itself and were just banking on the IP to rake in dough, so why take any risks or pump the show with a Game of Thrones level budget. And I say that to say a shot-for-shot adaptation wouldnât be terrible if the effort was put into making the world as âanimatedâ as possible and capitalizing on fan service. After all, the selling points were always gonna appeal to OG fans the most. For me itâs things like blowing a bag on casting The Rock as The Boulder (you know the guy heâs based off of) and Dave Bautista as Combustion Man (another popular fan cast I can only hope could still be on the table), just to name a few. So why not just put the effort into bringing the animated series to life as fluidly as possible as opposed to what theyâve made. At the very least it couldnât possibly be worse than what theyâve made and best case scenario itâs a great nostalgia trip that actually gives a bunch of young actors something great to boast on their resume and get cast into more creative projects. Idk, my thoughts feel all over the place with the show, but I guess they kinda get what theyâve made wanted. The showâs top 10 on Netflix n ppl are talking about it. Netflix eats and Nickelodeon too, on top of free indirect marketing for the movie they have coming out. Cuz if not for anything, fans who donât like this show will watch the movie just to spite Netflix or sum.
My rambling is done, for now
Bro pls review attack on titan im genuinely begging
@KevinArthur-s6cback two weeks later and waiting
@justincarter3578Why not per episode....
@matrooperI was of two minds about Iroh not singing his son's song. Could they ever get that emotional hit like Mako had? Maybe, but this seemed too big of a nostalgia feel that couldn't be topped if done OR changed.
@jamesonstalanthasyuI really liked Zukoâs line about how it feels for a firebender to allow himself to be permanently burned, how itâs like a waterbender drowning.
@sarahballs8866"I am Avatar Aang and I rediscovered energy bending."
@AB-zl4nhOverall there were definitely improvements, but:
- Toph not having her living lie detector powers and falling for her mom's very obvious scheme
- Long Feng just. Not looking like a scheming eunuch and not being even slightly intimidating.
- no bear for the king?
- did Wan Shi Tong just eat the professor. that was so fucking funny. and probably Jet too (him being there in this scene is a strange choice but sort of worked)
- did Azula just roast a Joo Dee? F
- occasionally the dialogue slips into weird contemporary-isms that already feel dated
- Tiny Azula felt more like Azula than her adult version ever does
- the constant suitors for Toph. I know she's like 15-16 here, but still.
- some of the costumes feel weird, like Iroh having suspenders (I highly doubt those were a thing in any East Asian historical fashion)
- some plotlines did work together, but overall it was like a randomizer run where you walk into Rennala's boss room and get hit with the very fun combo of Valiant Gargs and Phase 2 Consort
Well I did make it through season 1, but just barely... I won't watch season 2, i just can't with this cringe shit... but that's where I have overanalyzing for
@Trickaz9Netflix should've just hired Overanalyzing Avatar and Hello Future Me and it would be banger
@RocketScience39Yup, I didn't know it dropped until I randomly watched some cheap sci-fi movie on Netflix and it showed up in my recommended list.
@hemmojitoTreating this, as if it was an adaptation of a classic the same way you do when you watch A Cinderella Story, or Dracula 2000 weirdly enough makes it bearable. They have the essence of the original story but theyâre so far removed from the original that youâre just like itâs a fun watch doesnât feel the same but itâs entertaining!
@iloveLmorethanyouWhat happened to the Apex video?
@andrazprelec826323:53 thank you!! Kiawentio is a good actress i love her in anne with an E, is not her fault katara came out as super boring, the writing didn't give Kiawentio something to work with lol
@barbara_lummIn this video you're too focused on analyzing from an objective point of view as opposed to critiquing as a form of analysis. Of course it's hard to be unbiased when the original show is always going to be better regardless, but there's nothing wrong with saying the show is just terrible in every possible way. You don't have to beat around that bush for 20 minutes. They cut out practically every good thing from the original show. The entire runtime of the live-action season is only 10 minutes shorter than the original season, and yet it feels like 10 hours longer because the pacing is so atrocious, and the dialogue is so drawn out, and the directing doesn't allow the actors to express themselves or speak naturally. It's like every scene the actors had a gun to their head being told to speak as slowly as possible. This is a disgrace to the original show and there's nothing wrong with admitting that. Several Netflix screenwriters have revealed that it is an incredibly common note from the executives to re-explain the actions that the characters are taking multiple times over in the script. This is done specifically to appeal to people who have the TV show on in the background and are not giving it their full attention. This is a blatant stifling of the creative energy that is being put into the show, and it throws out the window the most basic and important rule of filmmaking: show don't tell.
@joshodell130538:36 He was right! It seems we have a master of poetry! Though in the masculine way, of course.
@jojojohnson5008overanalyzing⊠one piece?
@mdlouis1859You can absolutely come at it from the angle of "why does this exist"- in fact adaptations as bad as this are a great argument as to why they should think more carefully before even considering attempting them.
@beep8849What happend to the apex video?
@M_WafaIf itâs bad, itâs bad. Comparing this video to your Korra review is bizarre to say the least.
@TheRickySpanishHave you thought of doing the live action one piece?? The one piece anime is massive undertaking but i feel like the live action would suit you
@christopherpruitt3010Actors were good, the writing was dog shite
@CyanCisternThe actor who plays jet is sooo fineee
@CyanCisternI think you are doing this season justice with your review. ItÂŽs a fair and well thoughtthrough analysis, while being enjoyable to listen to. Good job.
@ElhuppiI feel like shared scenes could fall into 3 categories
Different but good
Different but bad
Or different but worse (but not necessarily bad)
I really hate the annoying millennial tone in the writing. They all act like annoying teen millennials
@canadaplease7981I think Toph's line about inventing metalbending woulda been better if they added a "just" in there, honestly
@ocomolinaehain_ocomThe only thing I can say about the Netflix adaptation is that I'm glad it exists. All my other thoughts about it are in flux.
@bruhmoment11111This show feels like an Avatar fever dream, and I kinda like it lol
@alexallen126To me this is definitely a worse season than season 1
@mike_ereWhy the hell does Azula look like that?. Hold up hold up, i had to edit my comment because i just saw Katara for the forst time. Its no offense to the actresses themselves but why do the girls have such chubby faces? I cant get over how round they are, in the show they were sleek, jawlined, thin girls. Now it just looks like we got 2 actresses that cant put down the rice bowl
@suspiciouslystickysocks8850I thought this season did well and improved on the first in many ways. In some ways I think the first half of the season even improved on some parts in the original.
The second half is where it started going downhill⊠I realize they based everything in ba sing se this time around, but the library not being in the desert just didnât feel right. The entire desert arc being taken out seemed like a bad idea honestly. They tried to implement the important parts of it, but it just didnât work as well. Some scenes were simply not as impactful as they were in the show too, such as toph discovering metal bending.
It was mostly fine, but the hugest crime was shoe-horning the painted lady into so many episodes. Why move the worst character from the worst episode forward and waste sooooo much time on it. If they spent the wasted time on lake laogai, more political manoeuvring, and the guru, it would've been a really good season.
@LaVieDeReine86Iâm so confused on how you liked season 2 better than 1. I thought it was significantly worse. Season 1 was bland. Season 2 atrociously got every single character wrong.
@taintedshe-wolf1686wow this is the first iâm hearing of this. i didnât know this even dropped.
@DrawntoclassicsIâm chef ping pong! And I invented pretzel vending!
