One thing about that defined Sons of Anarchy was its disturbing and realistic portrayals of assault. Every scene that involved r-wording really made you feel like you were a helpless bystander.

It made it more satisfying to see the villains in the show get what they deserved.

i know im late to the party but did you perhaps watch attack on titan and the vinland saga. that shit genuinely changed how i view the world. they compliment each other so good because they show the same coin from different size. vinland saga is more personal and is more focused on character development. Attack on titan is the best written story in my opinion and has basically the least errors in a show ive seen and im really picky on this stuff. I would cut pieces of myself so that people whove never seen it decided to give it a try.

Better call Saul is better than breaking bad.

The late 90’s/early 00’s HBO shows were amazing. Too many ended too soon, but Oz, Carnivale, Rome, and (of course) Deadwood were amazing. If argue that most of those were actually better than the Sopranos. The lore in carnivale is insane and really deserved more. Brother Justin Crowe is one of the great villains ever.

I really think The Shield should have made top 25 and not in honorable mentions. It's the only show to consistently stay good thru all 7 seasons, a perfect and fitting ending, + season 5 is the greatest season in the history of TV. Vic Mackey is that guy

Cool list. Different than most. I honestly also tend to prefer shows that are extremely rewatchable rather than JUST good.
Have you ever seen 'The Americans'? I feel like you might like that one, it's mature and set in a relatively modern setting (didn't really notice a whole lot of historical shows in your list). It's a series I watched in the past 5 years and just can't get enough of. I'm surprised at how underrated it is. It's about Russian KGB spies pretending to be Americans in the 80s. Honestly doesn't have a single bad season, it gets a little repetitive/predictable towards the end but that's also why it seems like they ended it at just the right moment. And it has a proper ending. Really love it, one of the best main romances too honestly. The chemistry is phenomenal (I wasn't surprised when I learned the actors married irl after finishing the show).

My favorite shows have no weaker seasons. Shit seasons eliminate any show from contention effective immediately...
