A lot of good points made here and in this comment section, but I have a few things to add. Firstly, let me say this. I don't think Mbappe is a bad player. He's having a bad go of it, but imo he's a naturally talented player and he is good. If you look at past games and his record, he's not bad. Not Messi or Ronaldo comparable, but not bad. I think he made plenty of mistakes up till now, including signing with Monaco's Youth Academy and not Real Madrid's, but I digress. In my humble opinion, his technical skills aren't exactly limited, per se. My theory for his frankly rather abysmal performance is that he's not playing on instinct, and that he's struggling to figure out how to shift his technique from appropriate to Ligue 1 to appropriate for La Liga. He's at his best when he's playing the game more like street ball than pro ball, but I haven't seen that lately. Part of it is the fact he's now one of eleven and isn't used to having to play as a team, and he's facing off against people who are actually close to or equal to his skill. When he does shine, he's truly amazing to watch, and I trust he will work through these issues, but if he can't... what a waste. As someone else said here, he's just another player. He's not used to that, and it's undermining his skill. Now, all this being said, he does need to eat some humble pie, learn to play as a part of the team, and work on his fundamentals. He has the talent, but his hubris is catching up to him. He keeps trying to make these glorious solo plays when he should be focused on playing as a team and improving his all-around game.
