Joey Cantillo UNDER 4.5 strikeouts.
Bet it before it moves! Shop your lines!
Cantillo has a 12.7% walk rate He has 1 of the highest among starting pitchers in baseball. That creates two problems for him tonight.
First: walks don't generate strikeouts. Every batter he walks is a batter who doesn't strike out. With that walk rate, a significant portion of his plate appearances end at first base, not with a punchout.
Second: walks inflate pitch counts. When you're putting runners on base every inning, you're throwing more pitches per inning, working deeper into counts, and burning through your allowance faster. Cantillo projects for fewer than five innings tonight. In under five innings against this lineup, reaching five strikeouts becomes a genuine challenge.
And that lineup matters. The New York Yankees lead all of baseball against left-handed pitching with a 123 wRC+. They don't expand the zone. They work counts. They foul off pitches. Against a pitcher already prone to walks, a patient approach compounds the damage, fewer swing and miss opportunities, higher pitch counts, earlier exits.
