Mini PC to Home Theater PC (LibreELEC)

I'm still using Kodi on the TV as a client for Emby Server. I just change the skin to Embuary and use their installer which picks up all of my media from the server. But the TVs getting a bit slow and wanted to go back to a separate box for streaming.

You say @2:50 you want to select the Windows option. There is no Windows option. The USB creator has a Windows option, because it's a Windows program. But LibreELEC is Linux... a custom version of Linux with Kodi. It has nothing to do with Windows. Intel/AMD refers to the make of the processor or CPU. Desktop and Mini computers usually come with one or the other. Your Mini PC has a Intel i5 processor, and likely came with Windows preinstalled. After the Install Windows is gone and you're running LibreELEC... custom Linux with Kodi built in. Otherwise a good tutorial.

Instead of mini pc, much cheaper Raspberry Pi 3/4/5 could be a cheaper and better solution for Libreelec Kodi. Connect 4 external usb hdd for storage.

I have the same Mini PC as you used in this video, but I cannot get the USB to Boot! I get one beep when i goes to F9 boot and if I then press the USB tag it beeps once again? Any Ideas? I've Googled and browsed but nothing suggested works. Thanks

I would install the artic fuse 3 skin theres also an addon i forget what its called but u can set it up yo play a sequence of trailers and insert a clip feature presentation and your movie would start giving u an authentic theater feel .. also I recommend the valariom max projector ill never go back to anything else

I connected my HP ProDesk 400 G5 desktop mini PC to my Yamaha RX-V683 receiver via HDMI, and my streaming services (Paramout, Disney, Prime Video, Netflix, and YouTube) work perfectly. The sound and picture quality are excellent.

What about one of the android based os' and an "android tv launcher"? Fyde os, bliss os etc? Thought about maybe trying it myself but haven't got around to it, surely anything will run better than a fanless low spec firestick

And the room goes silent when it's time to talk about storage solutions for say, 67tb of video's. I'd rather use a minipc as a network security appliance and leave a tower PC or better yet, a NAS box as my media room manager. /js

I run LibreElec on an RPI 4 that has 2 GB RAM.

I had the same system on my TV. The problem was that you could easily get malware.

I have a 800G3 running the Batocera retro-gaming build, and opted to have Kodi run from within Batocera. I tried LibreElec with Kodi running from a flash drive but I was always getting lag watching live streams.

Ahoy, thanks for the video. For a couple years I ran LibreElec & Kodi on an old Asus jailbroke Chromebox ($30) with a Celeron 2955U 2c Haswell. Haswell GPUs ran at 1Ghz max so it performed fine. I now have Rocktek G2 TV boxes that have a good S905X4-K SOC and 4G/64G so Kodi performs super on them. Kodi was great for a time but I have found that my ISP has added blocks for many of the plugins so I don't use it very often except for local media playback. It was really fun while it lasted. You could have installed Batocera and it includes Kodi. Then you could game on it AND run Kodi too.

There is a better option.
"Batocera" x86 is a retro gaming distro with kodi built in. Ps4 to Atari, with all media playback on Kodi.

A very versatile machine - I bought one off eBay to make a pseudo Steam Machine. increased the DDR4 RAM and swapped out the 256gb SSD for a used 1Tb.The Vega 11 GPU isn't going comfortably run AAA games, but all I wanted it for was to run Skyrim, Fallout 4 and Witcher on Linux, and it does that very well.

Does it support Dolby Vision profile 7?

glad libreelec is getting some love. I have an intel arc a310 on a 4th gen intel optiplex and can still use it to do 4K HDR to my tv. Kept the original hdd in too since it seems like everything else runs from RAM lol

I've thought about buying a fancy monitor and using it as a miniTV (tv's lack displayports and adapters are hit or miss) especially a 32" or ultrawide. Wouldn't need to be as bright as a tv and it would be a lot more portable while using a similar field of vision as a 55" tv at about 3 meters away. Some Samsung monitors even have tv functionality built in lol. I'll still just use my own little HTPC, with a nice bluray player. (Yes you can get at least 1080p and 3D blurays to work with libreelec, I've done it, it's not that hard)

UPDATE: My Dell Inspiron 15 3542 laptop has died of motherboard failure. So I replaced it with a pre-owned ByteSpeed-branded Intel NUC NUC6CAYH Mini PC with an Intel Celeron J3455 Quad-Core CPU. I added 8GB DDR3 dual-channel RAM to my Mini PC and repurposed my 2TB 2.5” SATA SSD from my Dell laptop.

I'm currently running LibreELEC on my decade-old Dell Inspiron 15 3542 laptop PC with an Intel Core i3-4005U dual-core CPU, 8GB DDR3 memory, and a 2TB SATA SSD.
