Michelin French Toast at Home

Video Overview & Insights

This is the best French toast recipe you can make at home. Soft, custardy on the inside, crisp and caramelised on the outside.

🍞

— @paulbounleuth8901

If you’re looking for a classic French toast recipe, an easy French toast recipe, or a restaurant-quality French toast recipe, this method shows you exactly how to make perfect French toast step by step. This recipe uses a Michelin-star chef technique from Hélène Darroze to elevate a simple French toast into something rich, balanced, and never soggy.

Unlike basic French toast made with eggs and milk, this recipe uses a light custard (crème anglaise) soak, gentle pan-frying in butter, and a final caramelised sugar finish. The result is French toast that’s creamy inside, golden and crispy outside, and full of flavour.

Surely they should be showing us how to make the bread if it's a vid on Michelin star french toast

— @FreddieWilkinson-s1w

INGREDIENTS

Slices of Stale Bread or Brioche

what is the white thing at the end

— @AbdullahIrfan-l6b

500 g Whole Milk

250 g Double Cream

I never realized english and american called our way to eat passed bread hard as rock "french toast", they are so dumb. Honestly, if you wanna cook some french dish, feel free to do so. If you wanna teach them on youtube you better learn history first before trying to teach (wrongly on so many level) a multiple century old recipee. You wanna cook fancy bullshit ? Don't detroy such a common dish that all french know how to do and why you are wrong, just stick to the fancy french dish we never eat like boeuf bourguignon

1 Vanilla Pod

2 Egg Yolks

Is it French toast or deconstructed bread and butter pudding?

— @aronhowarth386

55 g Sugar

Unsalted Butter

"A little bit of butter"!!

— @mjja00

Golden Caster Sugar

RECIPE

Mas capön? 😷er🐎

— @tutacat

1. In a saucepan, combine the milk, cream and vanilla pod cut in half lengthways. Bring to a boil

2. Let mixture infuse for 10-15 minutes

This is an absolute fail. (yuck!)

— @superjet2771

3. In a bowl beat the egg yolks then add the milk, cream and sugar mixture. Allow to cool

4. Once cooled, pour the mixture onto a tray or a dish to dip the bread slices

Michelin stars are just pure refined horse shit.

— @HasanAlKharfan

5. Soak the bread on both sides

6. Melt unsalted butter onto a pan over a low heat. Brown both sides of the bread until the milk-egg mixture has set

5:30 I don't understand this part, oil doesn't prevent butter from burning since the proteins and solid compounds of the butter will reach their burning point over time, no matter the presence of oil. Does it serve another purpose?

— @ValouIka

7. Sprinkle golden caster sugar over the top. Add the bread to the pan and caramelise.

8. Serve with (optional) figs and mascarpone mix

You seem like in a lot of pressure just to cook a french toast. It is just a french toast, what are you so worried about?

My French toast consists of egg and bread.

My family has a french toast recipe That I really like. I remember going out to a restaurant and thinking I love french toast, I will order that. It came out as essentially Egg Bread with Cinnamon. My disappointment was immeasurable. I now know that If I went to a 3 Michelin star Restaurant and ordered french toast, I would be only slightly less dissapointed than the other restaurants but for completely different reasons and would never order it again :| But I can see why people would think yours is the best French toast ever and that I would just be an outlier, and that is just the difference in peoples taste. I will say I learned some interesting things from this though. Thank you for sharing :D

funny how there is never a time when a chef says ''just a bit of butter'' without putting at least 2x the amount any regular human would put haha That's half a stick mate (all in love , I'm trying this during the weekend)

Now what you do is add butter then don't forget to add butter to the butter while buttering the butter with more butter while it's soaking in butter.
