Meen Pollichathu | Kerala Style Fish Fry in Banana Leaf | Banana Leaf Fish Recipe | Steamed Fish

Video Overview & Insights

Meen Pollichathu is a Kerala special delicacy that is renowned for its tangy, spicy masala and its unique method where the fish is wrapped in banana leaves and steamed. Some people believe that it is a Syrian Christian delicacy whereas there's another theory that it originated in the famous Toddy shops of God's own country. Either way, it's mouthwatering. That's what matters.

Tasty recipe 😋😋😋

First things first, this recipe is way longer in duration than what we normally upload on our channel. But the process itself is so elaborate, that we couldn't trim it down any further without losing details.

Now that we have that out of the way, let's talk more about this banana leaf fish recipe. There are many ways to cook the fish once it is wrapped in the leaf. You can fry it in oil, but it's a little messy. You can steam it if you wish to enjoy steamed fish with all that masala, and you can even bake it.

It's 2 minutes recipe 😮

We have shown two different methods in this video, fried and baked. Also, we have used Pomfret for this Kerala Style Fish Fry in Banana Leaf.

The authentic recipe is made using Karimeen or Pearl Spot, which isn't available as easily these days due to the Covid-19 situation. You can even make this with Tilapia or any white fish. :)

Thank you for the recipe

Without further ado, here's the recipe for Meen Pollichathu.

ABOUT OUR CHANNEL📜

Perfect...I went through many recipes on you tube for this dish.the best part of the recipe which I liked.... is the spices are cooked and then marinated to the fish as a result it won't taste raw and no doubt gives a good taste 👏
