Aw just reading these comments make my heart smile. I've always struggled with math as a child, and I always felt defeated when teachers would try their hardest to get me to understand. But the truth is none of us are dumb or weak it just means we learn and understand differently than others. It took me becoming a 24-yr old adult to finally come to this conclusion that I just have a different way of understanding information and that my brain understands through simple approaches. Also figure out what kind of learner you are, I feel like I tend to ask more questions even if it's a million questions, I ask the most literal ones because that's how MY brain understands! You can't be worried about ppl judging you bc what's most important is understanding so that you are successful. Now that they have Chat GPT I honestly feel like that's the closest thing to breaking down information for me because I can ask it a million questions as many times as I want without any judgement. As for an actual human being they would prob feel overwhelmed and defeated. All those years as a child I struggled and felt sadness because I wanted to so badly learn and felt like my brain was broken. To have to be around other kids who were way more intelligent than me and for me to feel so dumb because I also had parents, but they were not working with me at home. To now being on my own and deciding to enroll back in school for nursing because I have a passion for helping people in medicine and I want a career. I can't allow my fears from my past trauma to stop me from becoming something great when I can set an example and be motivation for someone else out there like me.

Dallas Community College in Dallas, made me reapply as a new student cause I haven't taken a class in 7 years. Well I looked at the ACCUPLACER pre math test and just knew by the 3rd question I would not pass it and be placed in remedial math. I am a CPhT and I know my math. Rusty on a lot of things like geometry but the fundamentals are still swirling around in my head. So I am going to binge watch you're video's. I don't mind learning. I don't want to cheat myself and am 100% committed to passing this college math quiz and willing to put in the work. Basic stuff like order of Operations, fractions, decimals, etc... Thanks by the way.

Which class would you recommend for me on you're website. I'm thinking remedial math refresher for older adults. I am clueless because there are so many choices. Integers, fractions, really basic to build up my foundation. I have the time and effort

I was a loser both inside the classroom and out. Now over 10 years after graduating school (continuation school) I have the urge that I only felt in sprites throughout my formal school years now I have as adult to learn and grow. Feels like a baby trying to catch up to track stars

This told me a lot and nothing at the same time. It was too convoluted to me. I just wanted to solve the problems you presented at the beginning. 😂

I’m 29 and I’m going back to school for Radiology. I remember I was not so great in this subject as a whole after algebra. To give my brain a refresh I decided to start from the ground up. The foundation is important.

Never give up and it’s never too late.

John, my second question is I am very weak in basic division, where I can start from? Thanks.

@NishatNaziba

Hi John, hope you are doing well. Why do we have to do things like keeping strategies inside our minds, while we solve even a simple adding or subtracting? thanks.

I am 32 years old. I was a child of 2 immagrints from Mexico. My father would get drunk off of several glasses of wine every night and my mom was never available emotionally for me and my brother cause she worked and went to school. I couldnt speak english or spanish in Elementary school. I struggled alot with focus in class. The only thing I understand in school was Math. And I was really good at math.

I am refreshing myself from the start and long to work myself up to Algebra and Caculus.

I am self teaching myself. I worked many different jobs despite the language barrier.

And journaling also helps. I journaled my trauma, insecurities and fears to get past it all. It took alot of tears and anger. But it helps.

It is never too late to change. It is never to late to try something new. And it is never a bad thing to refresh yourself from the beginning. Never give up and keep moving forward.

we're not going to talk about how I just graduated and I tried to take a simple test outside of school that kind of recaps every year ( without using a calculator this time) and realized i forgot how to multiply and divide some long equations by using what I learned in 2nd grade? let alone other simple things I actually am going to need in life. now I'm fixing to take the asvab and realized highschool screwed me over because they taught me things im never going to need and in the meantime dumbed me down to not even needing to remember basic math till I looked at the asvab.
