Same story as a lot of growing channels. Built by passion, bought by people who chase away the people who made it great. That's not a good recipe.

It’s wild to think you took a channel from 800 subs to 2 million from a home studio, only to be met with corporate moving goalposts and zero equity.

You and your team weren't just hosts; you were the channel.
My biggest issue with this corporate behavior is how they handle compounded success. Every day those 2 million subscribers exist, they generate revenue for the company based on the years of hard work you already put in. Yet, instead of being rewarded for that foundation, you’re hit with 'new' targets and threatened bonuses if you don’t squeeze out even more growth in a finite niche.

To take the revenue you generated from scratch, then slap on 'creative handcuffs' and veto the very passion projects that built the audience in the first place, is just wrong.

They want the benefit of your past work while controlling your future output.
I’m officially unsubscribing from every Recurrent-owned brand today.

Most private equity firms are like these massive money hungry blobs that pretty much sound the death knell for quality for whatever company they acquire. I'm not saying it's all private equity firms, but it's always private equity firms.
